Is it just me or it's a bit stupid that it blocks the download of malicious files without saying anything? I would like to be informed when a file is blocked so that I understand why the download has failed. At least, that's my opinion. What do you think?

Avira has something like PUP blocking in it's settings called Application, did you miss that? Majority of programs that users come to contact with seem to be PUPs and things like that so Aviras high detectionrate may not be enough when it lets other things trough.

i use this AV for some time on my PC and I trust it, even if the fact that it doesn't really have a strange behaviour system. just as you said in another video, we are normal users, we don't acces lots of malicious links like you do, since you test these things. I didn't have any virus problems so far. i only use sites like youtube, messenger, facebook, deviantart, transformice, etc. (you got the idea, i only use sites that everyone knows are safe). In my opinion it is a great AV program to use if you rarely acces other sites than those who everyone knows they are safe.

Hi Leo, You're right it's a tired look and the fonts are very small and of course this is the free version, this would work well with Comodo Firewall after you mention HIPS and of course their sandbox that would make sense. The signatures maybe the best out there not many AV can match it. As always thanks for the review.

When i scanned my Laptoo with Avira it only found 7 risky files but when i scanned it with Malwarebytes it found 110 risky files. Is this normal?

the only 2 of known AV suits that have an AV and a firewall and are free are comodo internet security and zone alarm free antivirus + firewall, but theres a catch with free one, both firewalls are known to be very good but the antiviruses are questionable, comodo has a pretty bad score on av test (but decide for yourself honestly, has the same score as windows defender) and zone alarm did not work well at all on my pc, it broke randomly, crashed aplications and more, but test it for yourself, its most likely going to be a different result on your pc ^^ (im currently on panda internet security - 10 bucks on G2A)

At least with Avast you can easily tweak the settings to give you almost unmatched zero-day protection. But Avira is still way better than Windows security.

I installed avira 2016, avira have very good protection, but have bugs. Automatic updates not work succesfull, and i uninstalled avira, but uninstallation not work succesfull. I am tortured to delete any file of Avira, i using PCHunter to delete, unpossible delete folder, but PCHunter is delete any file and registry key. *AVAST* *IS* *BETTER*

PLEASE HELP, I installed this and next day my computer has the slowest startup of its life then gives me a popup from Avira so i dont like it and i want to delete it, then when i go to add and remove programs it tells me that it cannot uninstall Avira because its "required for free anti virus" this makes NO SENSE! don't download this software!!!!!

You should test some cryptlocker malware, and see if boot protection work in all antivirus.

I wonder if you could do like a torture test on one or more AVs? Like you said, if the size of the samples were large enough even a high signature detection could miss a lot. What if you did make a really giant folder with thousands of samples? Some new, some old? Still kinda doing the same tests of scanning the folder and running missed ones. Same with a long list of URLs. See which AV misses the fewest and see how destroyed the PC gets, but no only that, see which AV can still keep a running OS and if cleaning the system is possible, using only the AV and scanners. 8:00 Yeah, I think it should, it's gotta be at least adware, it looks suspicious and acts a little invasive. IT would be different if it was downloaded from a reputable source and with mostly positive feedback that nothing seedy was caught. One with some knowledge would have to take the time to disassemble the program to find out for sure if something fishy was going on. Like key logging, or spyware. I still don't thing I'd use Avira as a stand alone, I'm pretty much an Avast die hard at this point.

I installed Avira and it crashed multiple programs plus caused my computer to completely freeze up. Startup took like 5 minutes (even though I had installed the add on that was supposed to make it faster) and for another 5 minutes or so the screen was half black (like part of it was black and part of it showed my desktop). Went back to normal after I uninstalled it. Never again.

I have been looking into Avast after windows defender started having issues on my desktop and laptop. I remember using Avira on my old desktop computer the signatures were awesome. I just hate Avira's new launcher called Avira connect I should not have to open a window to get to your antivirus.

Its a German Software and its not complicated, the options as u say! interface etc...at least here in Europe. Probaly the best Av ever. Better than Avast, for example I have seen enough infected machines with Avast and not with Avira installed ... The only thing that's wrong is not having a firewall built into the product. Since purchasing Avira's Internet Security Suite, we have had more problems with hijacking, malware, adware, and viruses than we have had in twenty years of internet use. Its almost as if some were attached to the download. It was almost immediate. Coupled with Avira's flack catching design for user feedback and division of billing from engineering, consumers who are dissatisfied can find little relief. My advice skip it, free or paid. Windows Defender is better.
