AVOID Audio-technica at-lp140xp at all costs

Audiotechnica at-lp140xp just out of the box - please have a look at platter backlash. Better save money for other turntable if you dont feel like fixing it by yourself.

@@NiiOnLood Wrong! Hanpin does not make Audio-Technica Turntables. Audio-Technica Turntables are made by Audio-Technica in Japan and many of their products are great!

@@NiiOnLood yes way I have done some research and this is what I have found Anyway, what difference does it make if the tt is reliable and sounds great. Incidentally, I currently own an A-T phonograph which cost about $450. I still have the box it came in more than a year ago. The return address on that box is a Japanese address. Again though what difference does it make if the tt operates well and sounds great as mine definitely does. I owned another A-T turntable for around 20 years, the popular LP 120, the original LP120 which I admit had a supposed minor flaw, the anti-skate control did not function the way I had learned by way of the Youtibube videos it was supposed to function. To be absolutely clear, I found out the KZbin videos were wrong According to videos I watched, the anti-skate Is supposed to keep the tone arm completely motionless on a groove-less disc which, I found out is absolutely incorrect according to a phonograph technician I spoke with extensively. He told mean if the tone arm is motionless on a groove-less disc,way too much anti-skate has been applied.

A defective TT might come from any company once in a while, including AT. That is no reason to judge negatively the entire product line.

I had the same problem. It is enough to tighten the screws that hold the engine and the problem is gone😁

lol, mine is fine. I'd say 99.9 percent of people who have this turntable have zero problems too.

I bought it recently but returned it because motor rumble was noticeable at a not too high volume

Mine are fantastic, no issues at all. I have all the super oem decks. This is on par with all the others.

I have its less-expensive brother, the 120. It does not do that. I'd say you just need to tighten the motor mounts, or else the plinth got cracked in shipping by the FedEx DROP team.

See if it pushes in more & clicks, I have the same turntable in my platter is the same platter, and dampened, but does not move around like that. But I had noticed one day when I was taking the platter off for cleaning reasons, that you can accidentally put it on, and think that it's on correctly, but I actually had to finesse it a little bit to get it to fully click into its place. I can't even get the platter to even move a centimeter, as far as how it was moving in your video. That definitely sucks if it came like that, but I'm sure you probably already tried something or looked into it already, I just figured I'd mention that because that happened to me like last week or the week before...👍🙏

Mine doesn't do that, thank god, the 140XP weighs a heavy weight 40 lbs. for stability, & after seeing this, I double checked mine, just for GP! Luckily mine is legit.... Hope you got it all worked out homeslice... I would say dont get the Audio-Technica LP120USB, cause it doesn't have the dampening platter, like the 140XP, just regular lighter platter. the platter is bit seated correctly it has to lock in place that looks like too much movement in the video

Actually technically the design of the turntable is such that the motor is supposed to be suspended like that. So arguably it's nothing wrong with it
