I worked for them they are greedy don't give back to the community and extremely high in price They have stations for everything being priced and price point systen of how to price items they can go online and check to see what it goes for. They work the workers like crazy with the least pay its alot to do especially the donation attendants they deal with the hardest part. They arent even great to work for with 15% discount you have to wait 72 hours to buy something from time It's put out dated and ticketed onto the floor. Its usually gone before you want it.

When I donate, if it is like a puzzle, I count every puzzle piece to make sure that everything is there. With clothing items that I am planning on donating, if I find a hole or stain in/on my donation items, I trash them. I love thrift store shopping myself so I try to put myself in the shoppers "mind and shoes" when I donate. Truthfully, I try my best to only donate to Salvation Army.

Sooo true about Goodwill 's greed and pockets getting lined..Salvation Army have helping programs for AAA..Women's shelters and car programs to donate to people who needs transportation for work. My Ill Will - mostly trash makes it through to the shelves. Anything worth buying gets sent on line, where their crazy shipping and handling kills the deal dead. No jewelry in the store whatever. No video games. Nada. Not even clothes in my size, or at least that fit properly. You can't return anything. Electronics have to be returned for store credit only within 72 hours. If you can use single pieces of dinnerware, glasses printed with someone's prom date, busted silverplate teapots and chipped glass vases, you're in luck. Anything good...no point. They want $4.49 for random t-shirts, $12 for low-quality used jeans, and $3 for used dollar store merch. Even the DVD shelves were bare today. I went in today for no good reason and all I found was a bathroom to use. Mikey gets better stuff in Vegas.

Their upper management pushes the prices so they can make millions in wages and bonuses every year. GW is a company that figured out how to con people into giving them free inventory, they pay minimum wages to the store workers, and donate the minimum they have to in order to be considered "non profit" so they get bigger tax breaks. I personally only look for the discounted sticker items when I go there anymore, and donate my unwanted items and spend more $$ at smaller local thrift stores instead. But I won't knock anyone who shops there, no more than I would knock anyone paying $150 to buy a t-shirt.... it's your money and your choice where and how you spend it. BTW - I did a quick google search on that shoe with the handle and found some possible matches - all the ones I found said it seemed to be Dutch, some said a decoration of sorts and some said it was a cobbler's tool but weren't sure exactly how it was used. Very interesting either way.

I went to goodwill recently and I bought a small towel. I removed the price sticker and found out that I paid a dollar more than what the original price was. They ha priced it at $1.99 and the real price on the tag was for $1.00. Yep, I got ripped off! I usually don't shop anymore at Goodwill. I also don't want to keep lining the CEOs pockets. The one purchase that was worth it was the set of blinds, brand new, not broken for $3.99.

Feds raided local goodwill years ago. Short version, district officials were contracting Goodwill employees for cleaning services. Employees listed on payroll didn't exist and some didn't have a disability. They also sell donations to thrift stores and years ago 60 minutes did a story. Clothes in a warehouse the size of a football field was scooped up with a front in loader, baled like cotton and shipped to AFRICA. I will never forget it was sold to locals for $60 Us dollars a bale. I'd say it's still going on around the world. In documentaries I've watched in recent years small villages around the world are wearing Tommy Hilfiger, Disney, and other name brand t-shirts.

I used to live in an area that had a "bins" and loved it. Now I live in another area that has a regular Goodwill. Yes, the prices are up and right now packed with holiday stuff. But i shop there at least once a week. Especially senior day. I buy almost all my outer clothing from Goodwill, and also gifts for family. I know the higher ups get the big bucks and regular folks get rid of unwanted not great stuff at Goodwill, and know tons end in landfill. There are certainly good reasons not to shop at Goodwill, but for me the lower than regular stores for things I like and will use.. My family is also with me. In fact yesterday was my birthday and my daughter and son in law gifted me a nice gift card!!

Goodwill also sells some items online that are considered more valuable than putting them on the shelves. I've done resale for quite a few years over 30. A lot of the resale stores have caught on and they have upped their prices so it makes it harder and harder for a reseller to make much of a profit on just resale stores. Any more auctions have been better in garage sales. Example 5 to 10 years ago t-shirts were a dollar now they are $5.58 in my town. Some of the name brand clothing is even marked higher. Good luck.

I live in So CA and they do not have sale prices like Vegas. Senior day is 10% off and the color of the day is 50% off (good luck finding something). Bins (not that close to me) are $3.49 a pound for clothing.

The goal is to pay the CEO’s millions more every year. My best friend’s son has down’s Syndrome and worked there. They paid him crap and it’s shameful. Their prices keep going up to get rid of the middle man which are the resellers. They mark it below what you would sell it for online. They don’t have the expenses of packaging and mailing to contend with. They know what they are doing. Thank God there are gems you still can find.

Okk.. these are I think just my goodwills because we have a large homeless population... But 2 downsides you need an employee to put a code in to use the bathroom... like they dont give you the code.... you have to track down an employee and have them come with you .. 🧐🧐🧐 and you cant take carts outside because the wheels lock up... Goodwill has gone way too far with their online sales. They will eventually realize that anything shippable up to $50 value should be in the retail store for under $20. Trying to get top dollar for those $25-$50 items can take several months to sell online and the labor cost adds ups.

I saw on the short girl picker a GW that has one price for for shirts, shoes, purses, pants, accessories. They had some things marked up but for the most part clothing was one price. Shirts were $7.99, shoes $7.99, accessories $1.99. I really wish all GW stores would do that. I think $15 for a used shirt is way too much. Would you ever pay $15 at a yard sale for someone's used, unwashed shirt? I wouldn't.

The glass cat is probably Indiana Glass. Your GWs in Nevado are cheaper than our New England GW's. In Maine, where I am, stuff starts at $2 even when it is Dollar Store stuff! You should keep some band aids in your wallet! We have a brown grocery bag for $15 on Mon. with last week's tag color; last time I went, I crammed $92 worth of overpriced stuff (books, linens into my bag! THAT was worth it! Stuff that didn't sell when it wjen it was half off. I launder, starch, and iron my linens to resell; when I bag them for my booth,, they look GOOD! Some of the condition of stuff they put on the shelves disgusts me!

As an employee and a shopper of over 15yrs I see both sides. Anything worth anything is suppose to go to auction to get the most $$$$ As a shopper that cannot shop where u work u must go to other GWs I simply look for the stuff that slips past n makes the floor. I look for a deal. Im also raising a grandchild n GWs clothes where i live is still cheaper than retail. Ill take 5.75 for Levis like new anyday. I do think GW needs to live up to the name n not hide behind words wt no meaning. Give back to the community that is giving all to you. I saw ZERO help to the ppl in NC that desperately needed clothing.

Went to a local goodwill whie visiting family . Its a brand new store and wed waited for opening day. Once they oened the door we piled in and i kid you not there was a whole section of shelving on yhe back wall holdind hooks and baskets filled to the limits with things clearly tagged from the dollar tree @1.25 then retagged by goodwil for @3.00???? Wow...I LOVE that toad piece...Looks like I need to relocate to your local...for adding frog-themed pieces to my collection...to bad you did not take it, as I would surly bye it!! Don't forget the CEO, who nets a large salary! Those two dolls look like thee star of a Twilight Zone Episode..."Talky Tina"...an evil little lass who states to the main character, played by Tully Savalas "I'm Talky Tina...and I Don't Like You"!!

My daughter stopped donating to goodwill and won’t shop there anymore. The CEO or president makes over a million a year

A few years ago oozing to donate for my grandmother I check best nonprofit organization for fair practice etc. People need to be aware like the girlscouts CEO also makes over a million meanwhile the girls walk door to door selling cookies and did you know less than 3% of that money goes back to the girls 97% goes to " administration costs!" Isses me off.😢
