COTA is in fact not an awesome public transit system. I use it on the regular and despite being less than 3 miles from my previous job, I consistently had to call my manager and ask for a ride because of something causing the buses to not run on time. It’s so rare that they run on time that it’s an actual joke for frequent riders. And if the buses are early, they’re REALLY early and even though they’re supposed to wait at a stop if they’re that early, it’s rare for a driver to do so. It’s also pretty common for drivers to just drive past your stop with you standing there, completely ignoring you. Anywhere outside of downtown and campus immediately goes from an every 10-20 minute frequency, to once every HOUR. Also, the bus lines are beyond annoying; not many of them go in a straight line. You can’t go straight down fifth avenue from the airport to grandview which makes no sense considering it’s one of the most major streets in Columbus. Anywhere outside of central Columbus, is extremely indirect. If you want to go from upper Arlington to Hilliard, you have to go DOWNTOWN to do that. When Hilliard is quite literally just on the other side of riverside dr. And don’t even get me started on the transit app. It straight up lies to you about 40% of the time. I was headed to an interview in Hilliard and it told me to go to downtown to get on the 32. I have a screenshot of it saying to get off on High and Long. When I got down there, the app was suddenly telling me I should’ve gotten off at east north broadway… 3-4 miles north of where i was. I passed east north broadway on my way downtown. COTA sucks. Do not move here if you don’t have a car and don’t want to spend money on Lyft/uber

You are lucky if you can see more than 10 stars in the sky over Columbus. It wasn’t that way when I was young. When I was young, you could see the Milky Way. That is no longer true. The night time sky is no longer dark. Lights are everywhere and on all night. 😔♌️

If it’s growing fast , why haven’t they put a rail line and upgrade the public transportation, I came from Los Angeles, this city really sucks , business don’t even open up til the evening, downtown is super dead I live in downtown an I hear nothing but birds chirping lol

As an Ohioan I can tell you Columbus has way too much crime. Not as much as Cincinnati, Akron or Canton. We have constitutional carry in Ohio now. In the year following passing the constitutional carry law, most cities had less gun crime. Columbus dropped by about 1 per 1000. A step in the right direction.

@@MovingtoOhio - Have a house in the Linden area that I pay $396.00 a month for including taxes and homeowners insurance. Weird thing is area seems to be getting better every year with less riff raff. Being close to Easton and Polaris area shopping is a plus. I work remotely and take care of my wife after she had a stroke during heart bypass surgery so the low cost helps alot.

As a native of C-Bus I agree with some of these things, but other things are just false. Lack of Historic charm? You mentioned German Village, how about Victorian Village, Franklinton, Old Town East, Italian Village, Clintonville, King-Lincoln, I can go on. I mean WOSU made a entire series called Columbus neighborhoods that showcased this. Lack of outdoor activities? I mean what does this even mean, there are tons of public parks, metro parks, golfing, Alum Creek and Hoover Reservoirs for boating The Zoo, Zoombezi Bay Waterpark, etc…. Same thing for entertainment, Sports, theatre, nightlife, COSI, Museums, etc… these two categories I have no clue why you would put into the video. Columbus has the same things to offer that other cities of its size do. The mountains thing is also kind of strange to add, I mean nowhere in the entire Midwest has mountains. But of any major midwestern cities Columbus and Cleveland are the closest. You can drive just over an hour and be in places like Hoking hills or Mohican State Parks which have Appalachian foothills and Amazing caverns or go another hour or so and be in the mountains of eastern Pa or West Virginia. I would have told people about those two places that are easy day trips and completely stunning. Other than these things good video I suppose.
