I’ve learnt so much about my DI unit from following your Channel. Thank you so much 🙂

Wow super important video, yet such an unheard of topic. Guess the DI resin companies don't want this info out there. Without an inline tds meter you'd never know this was happening.

All you do is buy TDS meter-£10-20

Thank you for taking the time to find out what kind of person I am, rather than judging me quickly and assuming I'm just trying to make a quick buck.

I use a float valve in my rodi reservoir that automatically fills up . What should I do to void TDS creep ?
@12madmax1213 жыл бұрын
how do u put a valve to drain first minute. can u demonstrate when using a resovoir and float valve. i want to maually drain first 2 minutes then be able to open valve then fill up container

What would be the difference between this, and a flush valve? Flush valves bypass the flow restrictor on the waste line, right? Is this a better option, or should you do both? What about just closing the DI inlet so the water all goes out the RO waste line?

I checked out most of your videos today I like the one where you were at the hotel that didn't have no security latch and or that was funny LOL LOL

That was nuts. Bullet holes in the ceiling, blood on the back of the curtain, the whole place was icky like a former crime scene. hehe

great video! I'll start doing that now.

I have one of those BRS flow restrictions with a lever you can flip to flush the membrane. Can I just open that restrict then close after a couple minutes? I wish I had known this years ago. I would have saved so much money on resin!
@melevsreef2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you open it for 15 seconds, then close it. Don't walk away, don't forget you opened it.

Hey Melev, My membrane started doing the same thing so I replaced the membrane today. Does this mean the membrane is losing it's capacity to filter water if it just dumps it back in???
@melevsreef9 жыл бұрын
+MoneyMarcMes Replacing the membrane is fine. Whenever you turn off the system, trapped stuff on the membrane will wick out into the surrounding area. That's why you should let it run for 90 seconds (or 2 minutes) to get that stuff pushed out before you start making DI water. Did that answer your question?

so just a three way valve and a jug to collect?
@melevsreef10 жыл бұрын
A Tee fitting, 24" to 36" of extra tubing, a cut off valve and something to collect the initial 90 seconds of water. I have it run into my washing machine since it's only about a glass' worth, but whatever you find convenient.

my system has a self flush for 19 seconds on startup and then again every hour or so would this avoid the creep automatically or is it something i should still watch?
@melevsreef10 жыл бұрын
I would test to know for sure. Even 20 minutes later if you turn your RO system back on, TDS will rise up quickly and come down again. I don't know if 19 seconds is long enough, but I bet it helps some.

Hi is the TDS 10 good or bad
@melevsreef6 жыл бұрын
Mohammed Hussain 10 after the DI is high. We prefer 0 for reef tanks.

It don't take me 5 mins to get down to1-2 using a TDS meter; the Water Board over here give all of us aquarium keepers special discount as they get the water back anyway! Tony -Salisbury-England
@melevsreef6 жыл бұрын
Why did you say 5 minutes? I suggested 60-90 seconds is all it takes.
