One mistake I made …I was protecting my ends, getting them clipped every 2 months but they were still splitting….realized that my high porous ends needed to be moisturized and sealed every 3 days (when I noticed them getting dry) as well as be protected. I hope this helps someone 😊

I experienced hydral fatigue. That was a big mistake. When my hair was puffy and not defined I thought I needed more moisture. It wasn’t until my hair responded SO favorably to a henna treatment that I realized I needed more protein. Because I’m low porosity, I focused much more on moisture. But the last few months of last year, I really researched products that would help balance my routine, so I’m really trying to listen to what my hair needs this year.

A mistake that I’ve been doing for years and just realized about a year or two ago is ALWAYS wearing my hair in the pineapple. My crown started to break off and now I’m currently trying to get it back healthy. Hoping it’s not too late cause I used to scratch it a lot not knowing how that can make it even worse….

My mistake was taking hair skin and nail vitamins. I am post menopausal and have PCOS. taking the hair vitamins just added to. my facial hair problem. It's now at the point where even after removing the hair on my upper lip, it still looks like I have a mustache. 😢 Also, hair is still thinning on the crown. My big hair mistake was not adding hair oil to my regiment, after over 7 years of being natural. So no matter how much leave-in, curl definition cream, and water I used, my hair stayed dry. I just started using oil about 2-3 months ago, big difference with my hair dryness. I am over 65 years old.

@TheMotherlove411 Your story sounds like mine. I'm 50+, post-menopausal and I have PCOS. I take GNC's MegaWoman vitamins. I friend recommended them over a decade ago and they work best for me. My crown area had always been thinner. But the older I get its looks like it's getting thinner. I've been using Kreyol Essence Haitian black castor oil and I've noticed a little growth. I just have to give it time and be consistent. All the best with your journey.

I think I discovered a way to remoisturize and refresh my hair by "plopping," applying a moisturizer or spraying a curl refresher throughout the hair, put it in a pineapple, and sleep in a plastic cap. In the morning it's "wet"/damp, shake it out and go. Hair is refreshed and looks moisturized. I'm experimenting with using different products (curl creams with oils vs. liquid sprays without oils, etc). BUT my question is, is this bad for the hair? Will it cause "hydro fatigue?"
@kaelathompson212810 ай бұрын
One of my mistakes definitely is not washing often. Sadly everytime I was my hair I get a head cold which basically means I get a headache for like 2 days after and I get congested as if it's a full blown cold. I've been told it's because I don't dry my hair properly, but I've been taking extra time to make sure that my scalp is completely dry but it's still happens. I'm not sure what to do about that as it prevent me from being regular with my wash days.

This video is so spot on.😊😊I have low porosity, type 4, and super dense fine hair. And I have made all of these mistakes in 2023. But in 2024, I actually implemented all of these tips because my hair and body were craving it. The biggest mistake I have made for my hair was neglecting scalp care. I didn't realize how much my scalp and hair were CRAVING hydration and moisture. So now I have made sure to water my scalp and hair. I use humectant (water loving) serums or liquid sprays to increase the longevity of hydration of my locks. Twice a day I mist my scalp and hair with cold water. And I follow up with a moisturizing product to boost hydration. 4 of my favorite hydration boosting products are Camille Rose Honey Dew Refresher Spray ($8.69), Biossance 100% Squalane Oil ($34), The Doux Get Honey Serum ($13.99), Donna's Recipe Strength Oil ($25), and of course good ol' H20! Additionally, I always dry/diffuse my hair with cold air, to seal & lock the moisture in my hair. And my hair has been thriving ever since! 💞💞 Healthy long coily hair, here we come!
@Raexrae_6829224 күн бұрын
Note: It's really important to listen to your hair needs. Meaning, is your feeling and looking its healthiest. Does it need more hydration or more protein. My hair usually needs more hydration if it's dry, dull, and frizzy. And it needs more protein if it's limp and and not springy. I personally always use a balanced protein and moisturizing deep conditioner every wash day. And I prefer light weight styling products so my hair completely dries within an hour after styling. I hope this helps someone

My mistake was the whole time I've been natural in the last 8 years and using every oil under the sun for moisture, my hair never retained length and was always dry until I totally switched back to HAIR GREASE. I use shampoo and conditioners that DO NOT have any natural oils in them and I use leave in creams in which some have petrolatum and mineral oil in them. I have been elated to now see length retention for my thin strands, high porosity, 4b hair. I also had to find a gel which doesn't have any natural oils or aloe in it for my wash and gos. I also discovered that aloe products created protein buildup which had caused so many setbacks over the years. I am now starting to have hang time with my hair, finally. I do appreciate your knowledge and advice on caring for our hair.

Hey Tonya, I love how informative your videos are. I wanted to know if it's good or bad to steam your hair, or will that also create gaps like how using hot water does? If using steam is allowed how much time would you recommend spending under at steamer?
@CurlyChemistry11 ай бұрын
Using steam for your hair is not bad, you can also apply your conditioner to your hair with a shower cap over it, if you would like extra protection for your hair, but if you have really dry hair, doing a steam treatment can be helpful.
