There's a time and a place for everything. If I'm running errands in the summer for the day, running to the post office or supermarket, I'm not wearing Krigler Abracadabra or initio Atomic Rose. I'm wearing my basic Versace yellow diamond 😂🤣 I don't mind smelling like how I look running errands at times. However my car, bag and accessories are far from basic, even if I'm smelling basic. So there's balance 🤷🏾‍♀️

Idk, for me "boring" has to do with how often you smell specific perfumes on other people in your area. There was a time when i lived in London when everybody I was passing by, smelled like rose/oud combo. After a certain point, it was all the same. Maybe if I would have passed by someone that smelled like Daisy, I would have appreciated it back then and not considered it basic, due to the fact that it would have been something different than what I was used to smell.

New doesn't always equate to better. There is a reason fragrances are around for a long time, it's because they are beautiful and still appeal to a large group of people. I hear "what is that beautiful fragrance you're wearing?" all the time, no matter where I am, so Chloe still rocks. One person's basic is another person's classic and perfect. I own the niche and the not, and everything in between, it depends on my mood which one I reach for : )!!

Light Blue might be basic and very mainstream, but I don't care, haha. I adore it (and all of the flankers I have tried), and it is by far my most complimented fragrance. I honestly don't think there's any other fragrance out there that's exactly like Light Blue either. There's so many fragrance DNAs that have been often imitated (BR 540 and Viva La Juicy for example), but I haven't come across any that are like Light Blue. It's an oldie but a goodie, and it still smells unique to me.

The way I avoid basic scents without breaking the budget is wearing classics. Try Rochas Femme or Tocade if you want to smell amazing for under $30. Also the classic Guerlain's like L'heure bleue & Mitsouko you can get under $50, nothing basic about them & you smell like a million bucks

OMG! I HATE D&G Light Blue! I’ve never liked it and never understood why other people liked it. It smells like linen spray to me. I’ve actually used the word basic to describe it. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I always avoided bright crystal like the plague because people said it was basic. But I just smelled it for the first time in my life and I was delightfully surprised. I still don't think ill own a bottle but it's very nice and was not as "basic" as I had been expecting

Light Blue is popular for a reason.... I always wear it in the high heat and humidity of I agree with everything you said. my Caribbean home in the winter. However, I do agree that fragrances become dated, dull and boring, and as we evolve and change and grow, so will our taste in fragrances. BTW, love the concept of this video!

I have to say I agree with Daisy, Bright Crystal and Yellow Diamond, I feel those ones personally are a bit outdated and not as great these days as they were in their prime. However, personally I do still think Chloe the original is a relevant classic even though it’s very popular and a bit over worn (so is Chanel No 5, which I still think is a great scent and a classic perfume). I feel like Chloe is one that will be around forever and will always be loved! 🥰 I love your alternative recommendations, except J’adore Infinissime, I much prefer the original J’adore to Infinissime. Infinissime I find a bit overpowering, not pleasant, and a bit of a disappointing release considering it’s Dior. But fragrance is very subjective and personal. Also, I would love to smell the Envy Me!! It sounds beautiful 🤩

I love the honesty! The two I agree with most are Daisy and Bright Crystal. Those two smell very cheap and juvenile to me. And I wouldn’t call them “good” perfumes, you know? What do you think about scents that are not cheap, and are really beautiful fragrances, but overdone? Think BR540/dupes or Santal 33? Stuff like that? At what point do you think those types of megahits become basic?

That's a very good question... I kind of want to say that if it's a good, unique scent profile then it wouldnt become basic but just "overplayed"... In the same way when you hear a good song too many times it gets annoying after you hear it 300 times over. But then you give it a rest for a couple years and that's when you find out if it's really a good song or not - like Queen, which to me never gets old and boring but I can't listen to them everyday either, because it's already so familiar... However there are some Justin Beiber songs I'm happy to never hear again LOL I hope that analogy makes sense 😊

I just bought Dot today because it’s discontinued. Can’t figure out what it smells like exactly, I’m sure it’s not a head turning stunner, just blend in the background, which I don’t mind at work. If I wore YSL Libra I think people would tell me to go home and shower - it’s complex but not in a good way to me.

You are a young, relevant knowledgeable woman. You know fragrances and have a developed sense of smell and style. The kind of work I have done for years, prohibits a detectable perfume smell. Aside from that, around here, the majority of people have lessened their perfume usage. So there is less boredom, when it comes to popular fragrances. I love the basics, I love complex perfumes,I love them and wear them all!!! Fun video, though. I do understand what you mean by saying "basic". People really shouldn't be offended. Wearing a basic perfume doesn't make you a basic person,those are just perfumes who are too popular, or too simple,but that's perfectly OK. I've binged watched your reviews this last few days. Love the channel. This is one of the few instances where I'd have to disagree . As someone who lives in the Caribbean where a lot of fragances can feel cloying and suffocating since the temperature never goes below 65 degrees ( and that's on a "cold winter "day here) I don't mind this softer/ basic ones. It's a matter of context. On that note: would be awesome to see some fragance recommendations for very hot tropical climates

In fairness to her, she’s only stating her opinions (subjective). She obviously isn’t crazy about the perfumes she referred to as basic/boring. One’s choice of perfumes is personal. What others may like or be crazy about, may not necessarily be your choice of scent. Others like La Vie Est Belle, Marc Jacobs Daisy, while others may hate them (like me😊). One KZbinr I watch regularly as well, says she doesn’t like flowery scents and raves about perfumes that she finds AMAZING, that are sweet smelling. I am pretty sure that what others deem as AMAZING, may not appeal to others the same way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion/opinions...

okay so imo bright crystal by versace smells amazing! 💓 I like floral, fresh (also powdery) scents and I think they compliment me the best bc of my fair skin and pink undertone. Also, i don't think you should ever call a perfume ''basic'', ''boring'', ''trashy'' etc even if you don't like it. that one is one of my faves and it honestly smells rlly good

Versace yellow diamond was my very first perfume purchase and for that reason I won’t get rid of it. I have about half of a bottle left. as my taste in perfume went up I definitely will not need to repurchase this in the future.

I am struggling with Black Opium and J' adore. I have them for so long, big bottles and I don't like them, but at all... I keep them because they are so well known.

Yellow Diamond was my dumb reach perfume and I got so many compliments when I wear it, I usually always choose Delina or Idole over it now. I knew way more people that wore Chloe, bright crystal and Daisy so I thought yellow Diamond was different 🤣

For popular scents, Yellow Diamond (yup!) and flankers Delina La Roseé and Idôle Aura are some of my jams. But Bright Crystal, Chloé, Daisy and Light Blue are all basic scents to me. Surprised that Sí wasn't on the list.

You need to add Coco Mademoiselle to this list. It’s fine if you want to smell common. Better choices would be Coco Noir or the original Coco EDP. Coco Noir actually smells similar to CM at first spray, but the dry down is much more refined.

These are so spot on! Jadore, Bright Crystal, Daisy, Chloe just smell like perfume. Nothing special or unique. I totally forgot about Envy Me. I used to wear it in high school and didn’t remember until I saw that bottle. I haven’t smelled a Versace scent I really like yet.

I wear at least two of these for the office when I work with clients and patients. Not surprised they're considered basic at all! I want to smell good but also blend into the background in case any of them are sensitive to fragrances. I definitely wear less basic ones everywhere else, though. What do you think about Etat libre d'orange fragrances? I've been interested in getting a few of their fragrances.
