Next time avoid famous tourist destinations specially like mirissa. You can find so many attractive beaches like hiriketiya and polhena in south coast. In mirissa even for locals everything is normally expensive.

@@OTWD_yt You can take a bus back to Matara and ask to stop at Polhena. It's a nice beach with many hotels surrounding it. Nearby Madiha beach is good for surfing

All the bus's have a number posted up on the front and sometimes the back to illustrate its route number. Moroever, some buses may show the route they travel on. Interesting Fact: The red busses are owened and operated by the goverment of Sri Lanka, and they tend to be pretty quick as they have strict timings to reach their destination. However, the white busses are private and tend to be at times slow where they would park at some bus stops for longer duration trying to get the maximum passengers they could, hence they tend to be slower.

Hi! Guys just caught your channel. i would have loved to have caught up. i am at Mirissa. always ask the price of a meal first. the food in Sri Lanka is a lot dearer than Thailand. everyone has put up their prices because of increase in power and petrol but 90% of the products used in their meals are local so how do you justify a 80-100% increase in food costs. the only things cheap is accommodation and beer and public transport. sri lankans are going to shoot themselves in the foot if they continue to think that tourists are ATM's. i negotiated my present accommodation down by 50% and i buy where the locals shop. buying western meals is a trap. pizza pasta dishes are a trap. my budget is 14 pounds a day but most days it is under 10 pounds including trips and the ps1.40 visa cost per day (US$50 per month). locals are trying to maximised their profits by high prices. i am trying to maximise my savings by being smart. you are right about the ocean. the waves are mental this time of year, so the snorkelling with turtles off the beach only happens Late October to Feb. even most of the fishermen don't go out this time of year and don't get trapped into whale watching (we saw 3 whales yesterday). no whales in the off season.

You do realise that just because something is grown locally doesn't mean that it is unjustified to increase the price? We are seeing this even in Europe, USA and Australia. A lot of vegetables grow in the central hills of Sri Lanka where it is much cooler. Unfortunately we don't have the technology yet to teleport produce from one area to another - so obviously producers are dependant on fuel for the trucks and lorries to transport the produce and distribute them to the sellers/supermarkets etc. So you can imagine with current fuel prices - they consequentially have an effect on the price of the goods. Secondly - how do you think all the live stock are fed? Grains are imported - and in fact, wheat, flour, pulses, certain varieties of rice, vegetable oil, and even some vegetables and meat are imported. The prices haven't just increased by 80-100% - in some instances they have increased by 300%. I can see them going up even more - given the import restrictions that the government have just introduced.

Love buses lads!👍🏻 u think they are crowded? Wait until u take buses in africa! Took one from zimbabwe to mozambique some years ago. They had scooters on the roof!! Among other stuff. Think about how long it takes to load all that on the roof, once it is loaded, off u go. Maybe 3-4 hours off schedule. Once at the border customs take another 5-6 hours to do their job. Once released, driver not to be found fir another hour. He was at the sex sellers house after being a the bar for the wait!! Laughing now, but not a pleasant experience at the time!! Hey, why u lads don’t load ur bags on the upper bins?! Good info for our future trip in December 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello my friends, I hope you had a lovely trip in Mirissa, but in Mirissa, you can see the beach, infact you can see more tourists in Galle, Bentota and Hikkaduwa. They are good tourist attractions and you can see the coral reefs and sea creatures in Hikkaduwa. I'm so sorry to see you have to wait for a long time my friends at the bus stop and please avoid from some of those people who pretend to be tour guides and taking your money. I wish you to contact a confident person my friends or you can get tour informations from a tourisf hotel in Sri Lanka. I wish to your many lovely travelling videos my friends. Thank you.
