We've come a long way in childbirth, but we still have some progress to be made. Let me know if you know what the policies are in the place where you will be giving birth.

❤ very useful information, thank you. During the first birth, several mistakes were made: signing papers without thinking, without a birth plan, a routine amniotomy, a quick cutting of the umbilical cord, bathing the baby.

I made some of those too! I'm so glad that you are going into this upcoming labor and birth with a new plan. I'm excited for you.

Thank you for this video. I'm happy you're in Georgia. We're trying our hardest to secure a Homebirth midwife due to past hospital trauma.

Both times I gave birth the hospital made me stay in bed.. I asked if I could move around and they said no. That’s one of the reasons why I chose to do a home birth this time around.

Good information! I noticed the enema slide shows up for most of the video
@birthtoolbox4 жыл бұрын
weird! I haven't heard anyone else mention that.

Although the enema is uncomfortable, will it ensure that I don't have a bowel movement on the table? Is it at all dangerous to get one?
@birthtoolbox4 жыл бұрын
This is actually a myth that a lot of people believe! The enema doesn't guarantee that you won't have a bowel movement during pushing and sometimes can even lead to more quantity in the bowel movement! It isn't dangerous.

I had mine in 1990, 1997 and I didn't get skin to skin with either of my girls, they took them to the warmer and bathed them early on. I wanted tonursemy babies but we never got the hang of it.

It has changed so much!

If induction is taking place can you still deny being confined to the bed?
@birthtoolbox3 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as there isn’t a medical reason for you to be in bed (like high blood pressure)
@gratefullandblessed01353 жыл бұрын
Okay thank you, what if you have had a history of high blood pressure?

In the case of carrying Group B Strep I wonder that it would be good to bathe the baby to keep the bacteria from spreading into baby’s portals of entry. I don’t like the thought of applying chemicals to a newborn’s skin or drying out their natural moisture but if it prevents an infection then I would rather bathe my baby that’s due here in a few weeks.
@birthtoolbox3 жыл бұрын
Group B on the skin isn't a concern and bathing the baby wouldn't be necessary.

When I asked my doctor about an episiotomy, he said he gives it to all his patients as Asians have a tighter pelvic floor as we r shorter. I'm here in India. I'm 5"2'. He said Whites and Africans have a much taller build n hence r able to give birth without an episiotomy. IS THIS TRUE? HELP
@birthtoolbox Жыл бұрын
This is not true at all. The need for an episiotomy has nothing to do with race or build.

Sadly, all of these are still VERY commonplace in the Caribbean.

That is sad!

In Latin America! Oh gosh it’s so crazy how our women are treated during labor & child birth 😥😥.

None of these are common practice here in my province anymore (canada) but also these are things I've been clear with my ob I don't want these just in case. And or want delayed cord clamping and immiate skin to skin and Breastfeeding ect :) baths were given at 24 hours here in 2018 but im inclined to.deny it this time for a little longer wait
@birthtoolbox3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Delaying the bath is proving to be beneficial to babies. Best of luck to you!!
