In the age od social media there are so many wannabe teachers with undeveloped courses, lacking proficiency. People are drawn to them because they are great entertainers, but not because they are good tutors. I am glad you guys making your videos and correct the mistakes of self-proclaimed teachers. It is hard to navigate among all these courses and find a good one especially when you are a beginner. Some people are teaching others, writing posts without understanding the subject. I mean if you know english is ok but that does not mean that you know how to learn a new language. in my opinion all of these teachers do a good job because they teach things that could help you to learn a new language. and at the end of the day if you say something like "i met a dog" 100% of english speakers will understand you. your english cant be perfect all the time.

I guess the girl in the video meant it as over using it in contexts where you should use a different word with similar meaning instead of "very". (like as words like "much", "soo", "highly", "greatly" and there is even more that i couldn't recall right now) And the emphasis is on OVER USING. I also tend to fall for this over usage in situations where i should have used a different word instead.

@@tovarishcheleonora8542if she had clearly explained that like you did then there wouldn't be any complaints. But she said using "very" was a mistake while in fact it's not.

@@havuhuy3257 Maybe she did explain it. We only seen a few seconds of that video before they did cut it off to complain about it.

Language is all about understanding during communication. Not showing-off our vocabulary resources. It's not important whether you are native or not. it's not vital to follow others. just be yourself. Vocabulary diversity is for literature, academics or public lecture. just use appropriate words, that's all. most of the ENGLISH content creators are making it complicated for beginners and intermediate users. and accent is another disturbing thing

Agree for 100%. If you're not gonna become an English teacher or get a specific specialization at a linguistic field. You don't have to learn all of the Englush rules, knowing the thousands wors. People use a language as a tool, that's it

Language is not about just understanding! You are so naive. Who told you that? It is essential to be a native speaker. I live in the US and learned English from native speakers, not by joining a group of international students in college.

Dear teachers Kevin andLisa, thanks for excellent and thorough analysis.I would really appreaciate a video listing only the examples from Marina's "teaching"videos.Being a teacher myself I would play it in my classes and have my students spot the mistakes themselves. It is a really good practice.
