It's okay. We're getting a Miami Microcenter next year (not too far). Have parts aside, current psu, spare case, and cooler ready. But I haven't went ham on an upgrade build yet. D4 went better for server slam than WoW but that still gets 1440p done with FSR compromise. 9600k 3060 holding up until I move on. Am on 32gb ram, so I like that DDR5 prices for ram are comparable to what I shelled out for my DDR4 kit back in the day (2019).

Interface is by far the most important consideration for a music production computer. Spend more on a good quality interface than GPU unless you're intending to game too. Look at things like Focusrite scarlett 4i8 or something like that. Go with plenty of ram for running more audio sends. And a mechanical hard drive is useful for audio, the speed isn't necessary, but storing stem files can be extremely consuming for storage.

I have all the parts in my car between Newegg and Amazon with a total after tax about $1600. That also include a new monitor, inexpensive keyboard, mouse pad and cables. on the $2800 build, i would have tried to get the 7900 or 7800x3d and dropped the fancy stuff. i think the 13700k was the better cpu over the 7700. you can build a $2800 system with either a 7900 or 7800x3d with a 4090 and similar design features but not in white. that would be the way to go. for $2800 you can have it all.
@gergoturi7559 Жыл бұрын
Good point, but I would rather go for an asrock X670E steel legend motherboard instead of a 7800x3d, since ryzen 8000 series is right around the corner. Also while I think the RAM choice in the boosted build isn't terrible, I seriously would consider a 6000 lc 30 or 32 kit. In fact, that's pretty much what I'm going to buy: 7700x with the 7900xtx, oh and of course a different cooler, preferably an air cooler.
@rozzbourn3653 Жыл бұрын
@@gergoturi7559 so you are thinking of the 7700 as a placeholder cpu for ryzen 8000? if that was the case, you could just use a 7600 for a few months until we get the 8000 cpus available. the system i put together on newegg for $2800 was with ddr5 6000 cl 30 2x16gb, because i think that is the best for amd. it was an msi b650 tomahawk mobo, 2tb nvme pcie 4.0, bequiet 1000w psu, sama case that looked like the lian li but in black, a 360 aio msi cooler, msi rtx 4090, 7800x3d. i dont think you would have to upgrade that system for a while. i didnt spec windos 11, because you can just get a key for like $14.

@@rozzbourn3653 okey, my use case is a little bit different, I like strategy games a lot, including distant worlds 2 or stellaris, in which case the extra 2 cores are beneficial. The reason I will go for the x version is that's a little bit cheaper in my area than the non-x and I buy the cooler anyway. But that's an other story, 7600 generaly could make sense too. I agree on the win 11, I think installing windows on your own isn't that annoying, so I see no point in spending extra for it.

Hey Jason, I hope you are doing great and staying safe! I wish I knew pc parts better and why it works with/compared to another. I know for sure you are the person to come to, and watching videos on price drops, builds, or parts are amazing. Thank you for being the person you are and supporting people who are trying to get a pc. I got a IBuypower pre-built slateMR 203i for 799.99$ or 899.99$ at walmart. I knew the price for the parts weren’t that good, but the prices were bad for 2021-2022. Hi. I see 4 RAM slots on your mobo. Is it just 1 occupied or 2? From the pics on Walmart, seems that just 1 is occupied. You need to check their Latency and Frequency. I suspect it's 3000 MHz CL 16. So you can just drop in another stick of RAM and save some money. You don't need to replace them. The 11400F doesn't require AIO cooling. A big air cooler should be just fine. The one you have is kinda noisy I suspect. 3060 is fine, but you can afford something better. I can't tell what PSU you have. Probably a weak one, since ... iBuypower/Walmart/Pandemic/GT1030 .... I see you listed a 600W. That should be fine, but we can do better ;) This is what I recommend. I don't know/can't tell the GPU clearance on your case, but it seems a 305mm should fit. CPU Cooler: ID-COOLING SE-224-XTS BLACK 70 CFM CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Aegis 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory ($21.13 @ MemoryC) Video Card: ASRock Phantom Gaming D OC Radeon RX 6750 XT 12 GB Video Card ($359.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Best Buy) Total: $511.10 In Warzone: On high settings Intel Core i5-11400F can achieve from 140.6 FPS up to 270.3 FPS , with average around 188.7 FPS . On high settings AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT can achieve from 199.8 FPS up to 462.5 FPS , with average around 264.3 FPS . On high settings NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 can achieve from 130.4 FPS up to 301.9 FPS , with average around 172.5 FPS . You're being bottlenecked by the CPU in this scenario, but you can upgrade to QHD to put more pressure on the GPU, and it will balance out then. In QHD, the CPU is going to produce the same FPS, the GPU is going to go down though: On high settings AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT can achieve from 150.3 FPS up to 347.9 FPS , with average around 198.8 FPS . On high settings NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 can achieve from 98.1 FPS up to 227.0 FPS , with average around 129.7 FPS . If you do wanna stick to FHD though, an RX 7600 should be just fine and 140$ cheaper than the 6750XT or 40$ cheaper than the 3060 while having more performance.
@madmycc Жыл бұрын
@@gruiadevil hey, the 2 ram sticks are occupied currently in the first and 3rd slot. It's running at the expected MHz CL in bios (if that's the right term for ram speed?). I think otherwise for the AIO cooling since the CPU temp runs kind of high at 35C in bios with having fans on full speed (it's noisy) but I could be wrong? I'm not too of the temp when running a game at low-mid settings at 1080p or college assignments. The PSU is C tier at 600w, so I think that's good for now. It can definitely fit a 305mm, but not looking to change GPU so fast. The CPU cooler has good reviews and good temps according to other buyers. I will look into both a AIO and big air cooler. That's amazing and really do appreciate the results of the settings. I'm not too sure what you mean with the CPU upgrade to QHD.
@gruiadevil Жыл бұрын
@@madmycc Ok :) So you have 2 sticks of RAM. That's fine. You can add another 2 sticks of the RAM I suggested, and get to 24 Gb and that should be enough for the next 4-5 years for anything you want to do. Your CPU runs fine. The cooler you got right now is weak and noisy, that's why you have high temperature. You don't need a liquid cooler AIO. A sturdy Air cooler will do the job just fine. The CPU can't be upgraded to QHD, I don't know what you understand from what I said. QHD = QuadHighDefinition = 2K = 2560x1440 resolution, which is a higher resolution than Full HD 1920x1080 and lower than 4K 3800x2160. The higher resolution, the more detail you can see -> better visual experience. But this would require for you to upgrade your display. In the future, you can look into that, read some stuff, about people comparing the 2 resolutions. Note: The more resolution, the more strain on your GPU, so you need more GPU processing power. That's why I recommended for that category more powerful GPU-s. But. The CPU doesn't need to be upgraded. It makes no difference for the CPU the change in resolution. The CPU can chunk out 140 FPS and 720p, 140 FPS in FHD, and 140FPS in 4K. That's all the FPS he can chunk out. He sends those FPS to the GPU. If the GPU is strong enough, he can either display all of them, or not. So, did you already got the RTX 3060? If so, there's no need for a GPU upgrade, indeed. That should set you up fine.

US doesn't list prices with tax. So that's never the final price, which you see in these builds. We, in the EU, have Tax + Import fees on lots of products which are imported from the US or somewhere else, if it's not being made in the EU. I think there's a factory being built in Germany right now which should cut costs on the importing fees. I mean I see what you are saying about the b550 and going with the b450 was a better option for now, but once he upgrades to a cpu that can take advantage of PCI-e 4.0 the b450 motherboard wont take advantage of it. I'm looking at it more towards future upgrades here.
@gruiadevil Жыл бұрын
B550 boards are limited to 5800x3D or 5950X. 5800x3D tops out a 6950XT in QHD or a 7900XTX in 4K. Unless you want to play in 8K on a GPU that doesn't exist yet, nobody needs PCIe4.0 on B550. The loss is minimal. The only place where it would be useful is SSD. But again. A 3500/3000 Sequential Read/Write is plenty enough for gaming+occasional video-editing. You don't need a 5000/7000 Mb/s drive unless you're doing some pro-work.

I am a old time PC builder. Been doing this since the the 80s. I got tons of parts over the years. Between upgrades of the AMD 4050 and B550 upgrades gave me some great parts. Such as a 5600X CPU 32 g 4x8 mem matching kit. I got this idea of making a test pc. I bought a new case and PSU to pull this off. I had a new 550 PSU never opened and a cases but I wanted a different look and I know that I will be testing graphics cards. I need more power than a 550 watt PSU so I got a Modular 1050 watt for $71 on amazon. Case I think the one I got may be a little over priced but it will do. AZZA CSAZ-280B Spectra for $59 amazon I got a renewed MSI Torpedo B550 MB for $109 to give me all the parts I need to build my GPU testing system. I had about 3 B450 MBs but I wanted the Gen 4 lanes. Now all I need is the GPUs so I will start with RX 480 for testing I got from amazon for $99. After I get my new rig put together. that is $338 to start this project. not to bad. Beet that! You know that is not going to be the GPU that PC will end up with.

Hey Jason, when you mention motherboards you often mention audio is there a way to check which one is good and which one isnt as good if we dont know which is better than which?
@gruiadevil Жыл бұрын
Big number = good. The number he's looking for is ALC 1200 or higher ... Idk ... I mean ... you kinda can tell ... but it's such a gamery-niche-thing ... like .. I can hear the footsteps in CS:GO with a lower grade audio, but with the 1200 I can hear it much better and clearer ... IF you use the front-panel I/O for your headphones ... I mean ... sure ... but that's if you play shooters 24/7 competitively ... I personally use USB for mic and headset and it's fine ... I think board manufacturers got hounded by Jason for 3 years, so they started hiding which audio codec their using :))) It's not listed on Mobo specs. It's not listed in the manual. You can't even see it if you zoom in the board (it's an exposed chip usually close to the front panel audio I/O with the Realtek logo on it) You have to Google the board + Audio codec and sift through the results, until you find one saying which it is ... takes a while ... No wonder the man can only do 3 builds per week :))
@ReadyPlayerOn3 Жыл бұрын
Google ALC1200, ALC1220, and ALC4080. These are the 3 you should look for if you want good audio. Motherboard manufacturers will tell you which one they have. If you want the best audio, then an external DAC [Digital to Audio Converter] is the best choice. On-board audio doesn't compete with external audio.

We go through this in more detail on our best Ryzen 7000 motherboard guide, but two things really: the audio codec, and then a visual look at how many capacitors are in the audio section. Entry level audio codec is usually ALC897. Upgraded ones include the ALC1200, ALC1220, and the newest ALC4080 (similar to ALC1220, but just works a bit differently). If the manufacuter doesn't list the codec in the specs page, it is more than likely it is just ALC897. Also, the micro center bundles are totally insane value! Make sure to use the link in the video description to also get $25 off if you are a new customer.

In that first case study, I think the builder might be planning to install the OS on the 128GB SD (have a dedicated OS drive), and then install everything else on the larger secondary drive. Thought there was some advantage to having a separate (dedicated) OS drive.

There is no longer any advantage to partitioning storage that way, check out our Best SSD for Gaming 2023 video for more.

You mentioned future proofing and it got me thinking how I need to build a new comp...mine is 10+ yrs old, Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H motherboard, Intel 3770k processor, 32gb ddr3 1600 and GTX 650Ti 1gb vram unlocked (came with assassin's creed 3), up till the new games recently (2021+), I haven't had an issue with it, now I won't even buy them because the are incompatible. I haven't looked at components in years and have no where to start and no budget in mind except for being future proof another 10+ yrs. I am not partial to amd or intel regarding cpus and not partial to Amd or Nvidia regarding gpus. The only thing is I have never had good experiences long term with Asus. I built comps/nets back in the win95/98/net4.0 era and my current comp was the last i built. When Windows 11 and Star Wars: Jedi survivor came out and was incompatible with my hardware more than my gpu, i knew i needed to build a new comp. Can you help with a roughly next decade build?

Hi Jason, I have a question. I have a 6800xt paired with a 5600x. I play single player games, like The Last Of Us, Cyberpunk , Hogwarts etc, at 4K with FSR quality. Is spending 300E for a 5800x3D upgrade justified? Will there be any noticeable difference in current and upcoming games like Starfield or Stalker 2?
@PCBuilderChannel Жыл бұрын
I think 5800X3D is a great upgrade for you. You should see a good uplift
