@@PCBuilderChannel I also have a question. Say a 500 build. Will a integrated graphics system be better than a dedicated gpu system. I’m trying to a prove my friend that says that the CPU in CPU intensive games like CSGO and valorant is all that matters rather than the GPU. Or a 1500 build with like a 13900k and 3060 is better than a 7600 and 6950xt. . I’m exaggerating, but I think you get it. I disagree, but I don’t know the exact way to explain it

@@notderfeets9149 this is true but the issue is that CPU intensive games tend to like fast single cores... there isn't an APU out with very fast low core count currently. SO it's better value to buy a cheap 4 core (like a 12100f and pair it with something like a 1650 or rx 580 honestly... this is very achievable even new for 500 usd. To clarify about Modding having bad compatibility with AMD. Games such as Skyrim and Minecraft do not respond well to AMD’s drivers and their API’s with mods that change the rendering of the game. It is important to check the compatibility with your GPU with modding the games of your choice. Some games prefer NVIDIA like Minecraft do not get AMD for Minecraft Shaders. A ton of shaders are broken with AMD, and Intel. Preferably get NVIDIA if you want to touch Shaders. V-Sync is currently broken with AMD GPU’s where performance is reduced by 40% and it does not limit your framerate, so keep this in mind when choosing a GPU.

Thanks for another BMB video jason. I appreciate that. No new boost stories for me though as final semester would be over soon. But I could tell you how ridiculous some builds are in my country. Few months ago I found a video where someone had bought 5 of these PCs that consisted of these: a 5800x, cooled by a wraith stock, on a B450, with a 512 GB SATA SSD. Rest of the parts are passable like 16 gigs of ram and a 650w C-tier psu, and a 3060 12GB. If that's not ridiculous enough, here's another one. A build consisted of a 4600G, an A320, with a 1 stick of 16GB ram, a 512gb sata SSD, an "RX 550", put together in a generic office case, and powered by a psu that surely costs like 10 dollars.

I like that you suggested selling an old rig to finance a new build. More and more people are seeing the future proof philosophy being less viable, since so much changes in 3-4 years (which is I think a minimum for how long a new PC should last you) Older rigs that still do okay at lower resolutions are a great cheap buy-in for someone getting into PC gaming, and they can extend your budget by several hundred dollars to help you hit higher performance tiers. Bonus points if you sell to a friend/family member who you can now bring into the circle of PC gaming

I play at 4K most of the Time except for Shooters that i usually play at 1440p and it worked fine even the old 8700k. I sold the old system for 600 euros. Greetings from Germany!

As we get older, we tend to "build and forget", and I know for a fact a lot of my friends are like this because building PCs is no longer their main priority in life, but they still enjoy upgrading and using PCs for gaming. Also, a third option for an older PC is to use it as a streaming PC in a dual PC stream setup. Not everybody streams, but more and more people are dabbling in it, and if they're technically competent, running a two PC streaming setup - even if they're recording content with OBS and not broadcasting - Is the best way to produce graphically intensive content since the workload is split, of course.

Great video but, all this RAM talk is giving flashbacks to when tech reviewers were saying that 4×8gb sticks performs better than a 2×16gb DDR4 setup with Ryzen 3000 well, that was if you can get your four × 8gb matched set of RAM to actually run at its validated speed of 3200mhz or even get said 4 sticks to allow your motherboard to boot regularly...I mean even though my motherboard manufacturers QVL had my matched set on it, I was still having many stability issues to where I would have to go into the bios and had to lower them all down to 2400mhz and then slowly raise the speeds up until the system seemed "semi-stable" at only 2933mhz but, when I took 2 of the 4 8gb sticks out=No issues with me getting 3200mhz speeds at all...I eventually just bought a new 2×16gb matched set and had no issues after that so, in closing just remember when it comes to RAM and it's compatibility "Your milage may vary" ;)

Jason, i do not agree the first built is future proof. You’re using AM4 platform, upgrade path will be only limited to AM4. If wanna upgrade to AM5, had to scrap the AM4 which incur cost. If go for the intel path, using b660 would be ideal as it can support 12th and 13th gen. I don’t mind using a 12th gen as budget, in future i can use a 13th gen is easy. Downside is no ddr5, thats it

Two questions: 1) Are there advantages to pairing an AMD 7000 series CPU with an AMD GPU (rather than an NVIDIA GPU). 2) Are there advantages to having two 1 TB SSDs rather than one 2 TB SSD?

No and No. That being said AMD GPUs offer better value vs Nvidia unless you really care about Raytracing.

Don't upgrade anything. Keep the 5900x and the 4070ti. You can change the settings to med-high and it keeps some of the quality and fps. I've seen a video where graphic settings does not matter much in gaming as long as the resolution is the same.

3:03 You're saying that 1x16GB of DDR5 appears to be slow, and you're suggesting that two or more of those would make RAM performance more adequate? Perhaps I can say the same thing for DDR4 since I currently have 2x16GB DDR4-3200 sticks waiting to be opened. I also read sources indicating that even on 4x16GB (yielding 64GB total), I can maintain dual-channel RAM performance while having plenty of extra RAM to work with. (and am I right about that?) Right now, I have only 1x16GB on my laptop which is why I am ready to retire that in the coming months. 4:33 I think you have a good point on pitting an i3-12100F against a monster 16GB RTX 4070 in terms of performance, and there is no telling how well that would perform along with an 8GB Radeon RX 6700XT (which in fact I ordered yesterday through Newegg). I haven't got up to the processor part yet since I am ordering parts a little at a time, but would any Ryzen 7 CPU/APU be appropriate for the GPU in terms of CPU/GPU performance overall? 4:59 The motherboard I bought weeks back is an ASUS ROG Strix B550-A for 3rd/5th gen AMD's, and I figured - would that be also be a good choice as adequate as the motherboard you would recommend? 5:31 I been dependent on Silicon Power since I first bought a standard SATA SSD under that brand years ago. Before that, I had a Crucial SSD. Should I stick with Silicon Power or is there a better brand that is competing well in the same SSD market? 5:40 I once placed my bet on NZXT since I believed they're best known for some of the most catchiest PC cases I have ever seen. In fact, I bought my very first PC part which was an H5 Elite. Years before that, I had a close friend of mine who also bought an NZXT pre-built in 2000/2001 (I think) before he allowed roaches and dust to build up years after. Between my case and the one you talked about, however, which would you prefer obviously?! LULZ! 6:01 I haven't got up to the desktop PSU yet, but I seek a good Tier A PSU just to be on the safe side. I'm leaning toward a Thermaltake GF1 Snow, somewhere in the 600 to 800 watt range. Before I go too deep, which PSU in the Tier A list would you prefer in the $75 to $200 range and why? I always thought a PSU that would stand up to all the parts I have with some room to upgrade should be a must.

I "built" my first OC during the pandemic. Due to price gouging, I was always looking for lowest price to performance, rather than ever over spending. Started with an Optiplex that I put an RX 580 into. Upgraded to an i3 10100F with a B560 motherboard. Earlier this year, I upgraded the GPU to an RX 6750 XT. With the new(er) GPU, would it be worth it to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 series CUP and MB, or wait for Zen 4 prices to come down so the new motherboard would have a CPU upgrade path? I know the cheapest option would be to go to an 11th gen i5 or i7 with the current MB, but I've been curious about making the switch to Ryzen, and having a future upgrade path, rather than making a slight upgrade to my current MB.

It's a massive one. I considered it as well, but in the end went with NZXT H7 Flow. Torrent and North have slight availability problems due to esp. North's popularity. Torrent Compact otoh is a bit cramped in the backside, for example it doesn't seem to fit Corsair Swift psu and cable management is difficult for the same reason, lack of space in the back.
