2 years ago your video about the pump assured me that there really isn't any problem getting one so I did. THANK YOU. :-). I also discovered using my spare innertubes (folded up, slightly inflated in a ziploc bag) work perfectly for my seat cushions. I haven't had soars since. I'll do a vid soon on how to make them. One for each cheek.

So glad my video motivated you to get the Baclofen pump! I know it has made a huge improvement in my quality of life so I'm happy it made a difference in yours as well. Cool tip on the inner tube idea. At least I know that's a fallback option if I ever need it!

Just recently had to get hand controls. I liked Menox's style, but due to cost I chose a good quality portable one. I've driven my car from coast to coast once since 2001 without them. I've been off my street bike since 1989. Hoping to ride again soon.

Great videos. I'm a T4 para an dealing with the ulcers has been a setback since I got injured.

Also, it's important to change your position in bed if you can. Switching sides is very important. If you can't change sides in the middle of the night, go to sleep on different sides each night.

Good video, I've been a T4 complete para for 21 years. Actually going thru my second pressure sore experience. It's amazing how fast they can go from a normal pressure to open wound with an infection! I'm toward to end of my healing, but started out 11x6x6 (cm) now is 1x1x1(cm). With the help of the hyperbaric chamber for 6 weeks! Definitely prevention is the key! But thankfully when not if they happen technology, supplements & diet can offer great assistance! Regards, Terina.

Oh wow, that sounds terrible. I have some irritation that has kept me in bed for a couple days now. I can feel pain from it, so at least I'm aware. The only time you'll hear me say this, but luckily I got laid off last March and staying in bed doesn't affect much. Best of luck on your continued healing.

Hi Trina, after the pressure sore healed. How did you succeed in preventing it coming back?
@markorollo.11 жыл бұрын
I have spina bifida and use a chair, got a small pressure sore but I think I've been lucky that it took 35 years to get one lol. The mirrors a good idea, I've never actually seen my sore, others check for me. When I'm not sat in my chair at home I use a pressure cushion. I actually noticed the sore more when I was in bed last night than I am right now sitting here. I must try to remember to lift up more than I do, I don't do it often enough to be honest

So true. Got a pressure core and had to lie down for a year. Because it was , it returned and spent an additional months. And I use Roho and do push ups.... Please be careful

Thanks for the info! I am not paralyzed but I spend a ton of time sitting due to a chronic pain condition called fibromyalgia, and I'm about to start using a wheelchair part time. Will moving around prevent blood clots in the legs as well, or do you have to do something different to prevent those? I am terrified of those because sometimes i just can't move much :/

+Kati Hammar Hi Kati, I have fibro too, I use a powerized wheelchair and rolator. I also get a vascular ultrasound twice a year to make sure no clots form.I would love to share ideas with you on what works or makes life easier. I live in the Washington,DC area. I also have other disabilities including hearing loss in my right ear.

Hey Brian. I know this is an old video, but have you ever considered a Ride Design cushion? I never have to worry about sores. I also have a purple cushion for the car. I'll hit my 6 yr anniversary this Sept, and no problems yet (due to cushions, anyway).

Yes! I currently use a RIDE cushion. It took some getting used to feeling like my butt was in a hole but I really like it and feel more peace of mind with this cushion over others I’ve used. 👍🏼

Hi, my name is dustie and I was wondering how u manager not to cath at night?I got to cath every 6 hrs and getting up at 3 in the morning is hard on me to get up...so how could I not cath at night... I was injured about a year ago but then had a blood clot go to my lungs right before I went home I died 4 times from all the injuries so it’s been rough for me but doin much btr now.
@ParalyzedLiving6 жыл бұрын
Sharon Thorp that’s a tough question to answer bc sometimes I make it through the night and other times I have to get up to cath once. I noticed if I had a few drinks in the evening it usually dehydrates me (i pee a lot before bed time) so I tend to have to get up less at night. It’s all hit or miss. I just listen to my body and the way I’m feeling to tell me.

Hi, what kind of cushion do you like to use? I'm on a roho now
@TheWayItIs.10 жыл бұрын
I just wore out my roho. Instead of spending bunches of money, I made my own using their concept. My chair uses 24"x1.25" tubes. I fanfold each one so they fit into a medium size freezer ziploc (one per bag). Then I inflate to a comfortable firmness. One per cheek and slide both into the old roho case. Effective, comfortable, and cheap. Try it.

It can definitely be tough. From what I’ve heard, it just about eating less calories and avoiding sugars and carbs. Both things I struggle to avoid. 😆
