As someone who lives in Hamilton, Ontario, where we have 1 of only 2 airworthy Lancasters in the world, this plane is near and dear to my heart. Just one flying over fills you with the wonder of what hundreds filling the sky would've been like.

0:31 respect to the F-82! escorting bombers had been one of my favorite thing to do in War Thunder, its super difficult but i learn that its best to stay more than 2km away from the bomber to give a barrier between the bombers & the attacking fighters, but honestly, if i mess up, the bomber is toasted. anyway, i love your Bomber reviews! barely anyone on the internet cover them, so this is a gem

I miss the twin 4000lb loadout. In naval that was an excellent way to dispose of two battleships in one run. Now there’s the bigger bomb but only one, and 4000lb was plenty large enough.

Love the Lancaster!! Lucky to live in the UK where we have one of 2 airworthy Lancasters & 1 taxiable which is being restored to fly. In 2014, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum flew their Lancaster over to the UK & flew with our Lancaster for the Summer. It was amazing to see fly!!! Also they flew over ex RAF East Kirkby where the taxiable Lancaster is based. I wish i was there to see that!! 12 Merlins purring away!!!

The secret to its design was the bomb bay, but a big part of that was the placement of wing spares that 'keep' out of the bomb bays area. The plane has a terrible problem with the hatch men were meant to escape through. It cost a lot of lives. The plane was liked by its crews and it did a lot of work. I love the Lancaster. When the brackets are just right in air sim, this thing can take out almost FIVE bases!! It is an integral part of my RAF Bomber Command lineup. Fairly cheap to spawn in, and it is (to my knowledge) the most capable of all the heavy four-engine bombers in the game. Flying the B-17 feels like a chore, in comparison. My only pain points with the Lanc are that, to be relatively safe from enemy fighter interception, you have to climb to just below contrail altitude, which can take quite some time, and eats into sim's "useful actions" rewards timer. And that the defensive armament is atrocious at this BR. Both of these problems are solved with the Lincoln, which I've come to regard as an upgraded Lancaster in spirit. I feel quite proud, and lucky, to have seen two RAAF Lancasters in real life - "G for George" at the Australian War Memorial, and the cockpit of "F for Fred" at the Imperial War Museum in London.

I've flown it on simulator battles and the Lanc can't take much damage to the wing (yellow on the model) before it becomes uncontrollable... Until you drop the blockbuster, then the plane begins flying normally. Thankfully, most of the time the sorties weren't a waste because I'm pretty handy with the turrets and downed the enemy that made the Lanc a falling bathtub full of cement

Isn't the 4062 kg TNTe of the 14 × 1000 lb MC Mk.I bomb loadout not enough for three bases? 8:48 All bombers should be landed with manual engines controls as you can increase the prop pitch and open the radiators for more drag.

Real quick: the Lancaster has a max load of 14,000lbs of bombs. The B-17 had a max of 17,600lbs (using both the bomb bay and wing hardpoints). However, no bomber was ever carrying the max load since it made the bomber fly lower and slower, making them easier targets. While the Lancaster had a larger bombload than the B-17 in a normal mission, the B-24 (as far as I can find) surpassed the Lancaster in terms of standard bombload Also, the USAF mounted 2 grand slams to a B-29 during prep for Operation Downfall. When do we get that Gaijin ))))))) Also also, how the hell did you get that close to a carrier with AI gunners lmfao. Then again I guess it's not Touhou Lite aka Naval

Great question. I went over the details once or twice in like, annual FAQ vids, but generally speaking I record most of my "regular gameplay" at 1440p and let the renderer do the upscaling to 4k/60. Some segments, like the outro, are often recorded at 4k native. (Long story to explain, but I need at least one snippit of 4k footage as the first bit I insert into my video editing software because of the way I have my stuff setup).

I stop playing bombers around this tier, because it takes too long to spade them and you're basically bait for fighters and interceptors. Makes me never want to play bombers at all, because I know that speed and defense is almost never adequate to be engaged and survive, let alone intact.

While i appreciate this thing as an engineering marvel. i absolutely hate it in war thunder. It stands as a pinnacle of fun for me but not for you game design in ground battles. With no counter play (besides spawning a plane) available. Since the bomb is killing tanks behind buildings or "cover". This plane has me seeing red like the pe-8. I do wish ground players had adjustable fuses for long range aa guns that you could actually use over the joke range finder mess we currently have.
