This has to be one of the most amazing string Sextet I ever heard. Brahms took the 19th century far into the future.

Terrific playing. Both the 1st violin and cello understand how to sink into Brahms and pull on the sticky parts, like at the end of the first movement. The end of the third movement by the 1st is brilliant. She keeps the line going. Simone Lamsma is terrific.

Einfach toll!

Beautifully played by these superb musicians. The ensemble is perfection. Brings Brahms rarely heard sextet into a new appreciation. Must have been a wonderful festival at which it was recorded. Lucky fella!

Very curious error in the listing: Emmanuel Tjeknavorian is not in the group [!!??], and three violins would make this a Septet. The two violinists are Simone Lamsma and Candida Thompson. An absolutely splendid performance from all six musicians.

I used to think that Simone was married to Jaap Van Zweden but she is not. (I noticed that the viola used by Lise is huge but still it does not stick out.) A very good job by all seven. Thank you.
