The deep sorrow of the 2nd movement is a really touching performance. The orchestra performance is very detailed.

Mozart send the viola was the nearest sound to the human voice, and he is so spot on, it has the most beautiful sound, and this proformence of this masterpiece is fantastic.

Fantastisch ontroerend samenspel.

Karl Boehm ( a famous conductor who i am not crazy about ) said of Mozart's music: "It has the effect of a fountain of youth" and here you can hear and see what he meant... Not to mention, that Mozart composed this unparallel creation at the age of 23! I also appreciate the fact that most players here are standing--giving the music a unique youthful prospetive, a sense of respect, as well as keeping the players alert and focused.

What an amazing orchestra, never heard such clarity, commitment and musicality in the accompaniment. And the second movement is a deeply moving account by all concerned, after Khachatryan's lovely opening statement of the theme, matched by an equally gorgeous response from Candida Thompson (I wonder what viola she is playing, sounds amazing).

Mozart consciously used something he learned in Mannheim, especially by modifying the rhythms of solo phrases, or with certain ascending and descending rhythms of the orchestra. This interpretation, in addition to clarity, has sensitive, affective nuances; are admirable.

This way of modifying the rytm in the solo parts, and also elsewhere, I have never heard before, I think. But I like it! It makes Mozart even more Mozart if you understand what I mean. Listen to 5.00 and so on, at 5.25 when it comes to the violin solo we hear is a much slower rytm. Breathtaking, yes, and I think that it was so it was meant to be.

Viola lover, player and luthier here- love the f-holes on Thompson's viola! I wonder what it is? Reminds me of two very different schools of making: Bresica and English. I'd love to know. The last time I saw such lengthy f-holes (of a different design) were on a Da Saló, as owned and played by the great violist Michel Michalakakos.
@Thompson3463 жыл бұрын
Old English, no name. Probably cut down to a viola at some point long ago! Hence the v large f holes.
@liamnevilleviolist18093 жыл бұрын
@@Thompson346 Understandable, there are a couple of obscure English makers. It did remind me of a Jacob Rayman school viola (English) so perhaps it was someone near him or around his time. I agree it may have been cut down, yes. Looks and sounds beautiful now! Nicely played :)

Pues Candida es una excelente violinista, pero con la viola no la da. Le falta profundidad con el sonido en los graves y ese vibrato es demasiado apretado, especialmente inadecuado en el segundo movimiento. Una lástima. Panadero, a tus panes.
