Thank you for this comprehensive video covering transmission fluid change on AW55-50SN..This is the same transmission on 2007 - 2013 Volvo C30 T5. I am wondering if the fluid life counter had to be reset after the fluid change at a Volvo dealership? Thanks

Hi bud, great video. Just a few things i wanted to ask you. The backwards oil filter flush that you mentioned, is it messy? Do you need to replace gaskets after removing that small black unit? Secondly, how many litres is their between the cold measure and hot measure on the dipstick?

hi, it would be messier if not doing on a hoist. always replace gaskets and seals if available when you do work on components that have not been off for a while. cheers

hi, the filter is internal, trans needs disassembly toreplace. you can install an inline filter in cooling line to make it last a bit longer or if you remove valve body you can reverse flush the internal filter. cheers

I'm guessing probably oil leak if that much came out and that much went in torque converters hold a bit but still the value should be the same

Oil change of the AW55-50 is about 4 liters. Total oil in the transmission is 7,7litres, the Torque Converteer stays full of oil when you let out the oil. I remotely service these AW55-50

Can you explain how to do the reverse transmission filter flush? I have a 2006 Chevy equinox and it's has the af33 transmission. Shifts fine I always do a drain and fill every year for about 5 years with the right GM dealer fluid. It has a slight whine when I'm stopped but in neutral and driving it is quiet. Any idea? I search everywhere no one knows and it's been like this since I've owned it from 175k miles to 230k on it now. Thanks man.

hi, either someone underfilled it or has slow leak somewhere, could even be on cooling line, as there it would push fluid out as its pressurised....sometimes if you overheat the fluid and then check level, the expanded over hot fluid will run out, leaving you to think it was overfull...when the trans cools down would show underfull. always check at or within manufacturers temp range. cheers

On the trans cooler what is the out and In port assignments? And what is the output pressure? Wi want to check on the possibility of an external remote filter Subaru s Filter I think and larger cooler? More filter and more cooler oil is better?

hi, the in/out configuration does not matter, we have tried it. deeper pan or a way to get more fluid volume is always better and will help keep trans temp down. make sure you do a regular filter service and add magnets as well. cheers

i, you can use any reputable and compatible fluid. most oil companies will have a spec list. we use tritech or penrite mostly. www.datateck.com.au/Lube/TriTechAus/ cheers

And strangely enough, when i check my dipstick at stone cold temperature, the oil sits 3 quarters up the dipstick (yes i know its too high, im onto it) and when the car got up to running temperature, it actually went DOWN on the dipstick?

hi, when cold you get the top half of fluid drain back into trans, giving you a false high indicator. you have to check trans at correct temp... also the fluid will expand when warms up. if you overfill trans, the fluid can reach the spinning components and cause fluid to become aerated. aerated fluid in an hydraulic circuit can cause overheating, spongy shifts, burn clutches and bands and cause fluid to come out of trans breather or filler tube. cheers

hi, generally less than a liter. but keep in mind that the fluid will also expand with temperature, so check level at the temperature according to manufacturers specifications. cheers

​@@YepThatsIt Thanks for answer. I have checked oil level when gearbox was warmed up after about 30 kilometers of driving, and i had oil at 3 out of 5 mark on the dipstick's "hot" scale. I have the same gearbox as shown in this video and now i'm wondering if its worth to fill it to the max sign.
