At 8:50 I love how lawrence really was about to go for it, like any other normal man would do. And how Holo could tell him just after she pull him into the bed that there was some people outside, but she waited until she was sure he was going to do it 😁

As far as falling asleep, she's a wolf. Ever see how fast a dog falls asleep? Also, she's quite drunk. BTW, there is a post credit scene in this that you should watch.

the dude was saying theres no point at face value of harming or kidnapping holo and lawrence because the pieces are already moving to counter what theyre up to and if it came to choosing holo (btw, its pronounced like hoe-low, not hallow) and lawrence over their profits the guy would choose their profits. its harsh but its the truth.

This episode is one of the best. Lawrence sharing his hope and dreams and Holo just becoming completely vulnerable and breaking down sharing her fears and anxieties. So good. Lawrence giving her his drawing to wipe her face as he's starting to realize maybe his dreams are changing now that Holo is in his life. Yeah the romance is real with these two. The next episode is great too and you'll find out even more details about the money scheme. But since you skipped the post credits scene in ep 4 I'll just say someone at Medio Trading knows who Holo is and how important she is. Holo is the leverage, or at least they think she is.

1:52 what i take from lawrence explanation is lawrence assume medio will profiting with this way. They make rumour about trenni gaining in value >People/merchant fomo buying trenni in huge volume >People realize trenni value decreasing instead of increasing >People realize they have too much useless silver coin >People decide to sell/trade those coin even at lost >Medio trading company gain profit buying coin from people willing to sell/trade their coin at lost. Next step is spoiler ,they will explain it at next ep i think.

I've made this comment to many people over the years, but if you still enjoy it after episode 3 you are completely fine for the ENTIRE story. I don't think I understood the econ until 5+ years after the show ended, but understanding the economics doesn't really change the way you feel. If you're emotionally connected to them, that's the only thing that matters! Forget the economics, the show is just SO CUTE!

This was a very good ep. When Holo was sad they animated so well that I just wanted to give her a hugh. You missed some after credits content. You need to watch it. Next episode is going to be very good.

I don't think he's in love with her yet, but he's come to care for her deeply and she's come to see him as a true friend and that's what this episode was saying about them. They're forming that lasting friendship that will become romatntic later on. I also almost cried during that one scene. Not to mention, her causally trusting him with the wheat aka her LIFE was peak. I love them so much. Holo is precious. And you're right about the trading companies. Can't wait for more! Also love the book update. I just started a new one and the last one I finished was really good. I'm just waiting to get the next one. The Storm Runner if you're interested.

Holo 🥺 Holo is the main reason I watch this anime . For me she carry the show since I don't care much about the economics/merchant part of the anime.

14:27 wise choice. I remember someone claimed spice and wolf is the best romance anime ever to exist. I don't know if it's true, but other romance anime usually consist of high school romance dramas. It's pretty rare having a romance anime featuring two mature people.

It's not so much rare as much as not really popularized often. They don't tend to get really well known outside of certain audiences that look for them.

They *are* clearly in love with each other, although they're both slow movers. Everything that happens between Lawrence drawing his shop and Holo acting as a decoy is *so* romantic, I just can't. Glad that you're staying for the full ride! In the scene with the shady-seeming guy, he was talking through the apparent lack of motive for the kidnapping with Lawrence to try and get a grip on the situation, but Lawrence wasn't able to handle it, emotionally speaking--hearing hypothetically how there's no incentive for the shady-seeming guy to help him and Holo wasn't something he could rationally entertain and think about. Then, before they can draw any conclusions, the answer arrives in the form of the letter--the kidnappers know Holo's secret. Why and how that explains the kidnapping will be addressed soon.

Yeah as for Holo falling asleep so fast. In most of the cases she does that she's drunk a few barrels of alcohol. So she tends to be barely awake while awake let alone while laying down on a bed.

Not personally but my older brother can just sleep on demand like that it's like a superpower but yeah totally feasible. Also some animes do post credit scenes sometimes with very important info on them. yeah it's kind of annoying but it's an industry standard at this point.

If you enjoy reading and you'd like to better understand the financial shenanigans you might like the Spice and Wolf light novels. The main series is 17 books and there are 7 more books in the epilogue series Spice and Wolf: Spring Log. Then there is a spinoff series featuring a certain silver haired wolf girl called Wolf and Parchment. The spring log books and the wolf and Parchment books are both still ongoing.

@@dddoodles there is more of the romance in the books as well. The economics are better explained this easier to understand in the books is all I was saying. The books are great and the anime is great as well. But like any other adaptation things are a little different between the two mediums.

Basic explanation of what's going on with the silver coins Spoilers in the read more Basically, they want them because they need to be melted down to make more coins with less silver value so preventing that means they can use them to gain concessions from the government because they won't have the silver to be able to do that. (Not quite the exact plan but close enough of an explanation.
