Yeah... That was kinda painful. Perception: -1 But his _second ground battle_ was *textbook EAW Ground Strategy.* Perfectly executed. And he does pretty good in space too. And, same with a lot of his choices, I remind myself: even if it's not what I would do (with my 5k+ hours) doesn't always make it wrong. There are multiple paths to the same destination. 😊

Personal Log: Davon Cress, serving onboard the Venator-Class Battlecarrier "Liberation" Liberation Quick Response Force Operation Feather is going rather smoothly. Compared to Operation White Moon, (the war against the Hutts), it's all gone well and according to plan. Frankly, I think it's very well timed too. With the empire's massive losses over Dathomir and Muunilist, they've surprisingly had a hard time healing their wounds. We haven't seen much imperial activity outside of the construction of two of the empire's SSDs. From what I heard, they may have cancelled the other. Though, the Bellator is still in play. Operation Feather changes that though. Luke took his unit to Manaan as part of the operation. Vader and his unit were stuck there after we blockaded the planet. Bringing a few aerial transports as well as X-wings for scouting, Luke managed to flank the Empire far behind their lines. Vader was caught off guard, and the entire unit engaged at range while Luke dueled him. I've managed to nab a holovid of the duel from a favor. Many of the unit's blasters were simply deflected by Vader while Luke swung at him. Eventually, all the footage showed was a red fuzz being deflected wildly off everywhere. Footage ends with Vader retreating alongside a unit of armor. Never thought i'd see him run like that, but here I am. Then came the battle over Cato Nemoidia. Their garrison was easily overwhelmed by Snunb alongside an escorting MC80 Justice. From what I've heard from Shack, command may no longer be relying on the Dauntless as the main brawler of the alliance. While being an effective close range brawler, it only functions well at a short range. I would know. Either command sees potential in long-range orbital warfare, or are trying to get more support from Mon Cala. Either way, we're gonna see more MCs. Luke's unit took the surface a few hours after. They raided an old droid factory all the way from the clone wars. Got themselves a few AAT droid tanks. I believe we definitely gave the imperial veterans a little wake up call that day. Well, that's all that's happened this week. Brask told me about a rumor onboard the Liberation. Pirates infiltrating, one of them being killed. Told him whatever they're doing, they're probably doing it badly given how we know about them. Might need to tighten security here like I did on The Arquent. Either way, busy day. Davon Cress, out.

Lore for the reason why that second AAT got stuck: the repulsed lifts failed due to age and lack of maintenance over the years LOL you got lucky Shack. You didn’t seem to notice that the Empire was building the Executor but the Black Sun took it out. Suggest you do a recon in force against Rendili, see if wiping out the orbital facilities stops the Bellator construction. If not, maybe try the same against Kuat if casualties were light. Just blockade the planets, don’t bother taking them. Once you’ve stopped the Bellator construction, invade and conquer Corellia

Shack, there is the Maw and Trandosha still left in enemy hands. You might need to take care of them soon. The Zhar region has an Empire leader (Jerrod?) you will need to deal with. Furthermore, the Wheel needs to be taken as soon as possible. Ackbar is crucial for the Mid Rim Campaign. Especially when you are going to face the Ark Hammer. I don’t know where it is but I have a gut feeling that you are going to encounter it soon. Finally, the CSA can be demolished easily if with a new separate fleet and army. That can act as a secondary response should the Empire or Black Sun stage a counterattack. Make life easier. ;) Hope these suggestions helps! Look forward to the next episode.

Senior Captain's Log Orbit of Scipio Week 152 [Begin Log] Well, looks like the Southern Fleet is having all of the fun. With light casualties, they have taken Manaan and Cato Nemoidia. They are beginning a push into the Core, and many in the Northern Fleet are getting antsy. With any hope, the battle here will be quick, so that we can continue our other operations. The capturing of Mandalore and ghe Wheel are both glaring objectives that need to be achieved. Back up here, I had to deal with some bad guests, Harrison and Sonquel trying to bug me on Uncle's behalf, killed Sonquel as a message and Saber Squadron escorted Harrison away from the Liberation until he jumped to hyperspace. Apart from that, I took the Fourth Great Company out with Rouge Squadron to destroy an Imperial base on the Jade Moon, it was pretty entertaining. Oh, and Tanya's surgery went well, she was up and walking a week after her appendix got taken out. Well, that's all for now, Nartha out. [End Log]

Yesterday we finished mop up operations on Manaan; meanwhile, fleet scuttlebutt is becoming increasingly partisan on whether the target is Corellia or Kuat, and i even had to break up a brawl between one of my own flights and the ground crew. Anyways, Gauntlet was flying CAS for most of the campaign, and we lost 2 pilots. One of them was a rookie, kid probably never knew what hit him; the other was a veteran, survived Dathomir and had just kicked his spice addiction, too. My XO was on the ground, serving as air coordinator since the ground-pounders didnt have one. She took it pretty hard, blamed herself for not making sure the approach was completely clear of AAA before calling them in. Its not her fault; she's used to seeing it all from the air, not the ground. Id better- kriff, thats the alarm! We must almost be at Cato Nemoidia already; I guess ill have to talk to her about it after the battle. Alright, this is Captain Galen signing off." =========================

Shack, you should really reinforce your fleet with MC80 Liberty cruisers (and other capital and support ships) so that you can take on Corellia and liberate it, plus you should focus on the Mon Cala Buffer Zone mission to finally unlock Ackbar, Home One is gonna be needed

I would take Corellia, and then back track in the other direction to do hit and run raids on their bigger ship yard. What I mean by hit and run is, I would take in a fleet of nothing but X wings and Y wings, and Target the Shipyard, then the Base Station. Once those two targets were destroyed, I would then retreat what was left of the Fighters and Bombers. Have a Great One!!!

Rogue Squadron Journal Week 152 - Scipio Lt. Witton Bogre - Rogue 4 The sieges of the Mid-Rim worlds have begun. In an effort to take pressure off of the northern front, command has decided to make a drive into the Mid-Rim. Commander Skywalker has led this offensive better than anyone could have hoped, and now our forces sit on the edge of the Core worlds. It's said he even drove Vader himself into retreating. Even when he's not commanding Rogue Squadron personally he's looking out for us. As I understand it, Corellia is within our crosshairs now. Hopefully the day is soon coming that my homeworld will be freed. Here though things have slowed as continue to lick our wounds. As for Rogue Squadron personally, we were sent on a vital mission to raid the imperial storage base on the Jade Moon. Thanks to the intelligence agent Nightswan had collected weeks earlier we had learned that this base was a major supplier of materials to the imperial navy's shipyards. Specifically their star dreadnought construction yards. Using a recently stolen and repaired sentinel class shuttle, Captain Saul and his Fourth company, loaded up and set out with us to hit the base. Using the codes provided to us by Nightswan we were able to move in and land undected. The Imps never saw us coming. Rogue Squadron cleared a path for Saul and his men right up to the base's front door. Unfortunately things took a turn when the defenders managed to activate a base shield preventing Saul's team from entering. It had to go, the problem was it was located at the end of nearby canyon that was littered with AA batteries. The only good thing was that none of those AA guns were in the canyon itself, only above it. So we dived right down into it at full speed, compared to the training Luke made us do in Beggar's Canyon this was child's play. A couple of protons later and the shield was down and our guys were inside. As we rushed back they grabbed everything that wasn't nailed down and destroyed what was. After clearing out the last of the imperials we took our spoils and headed home. Knowing we had bought the Rebellion another few weeks that wouldn't see any construction on an SSD.

Saul's around 5'8 with brown hair tied in a topknot, and gray-green almond-shaped eyes he's got a thinner, more muscular frame than at the start of the series. He also has a knife with a snake's head pommel on his right hip and an RG-4D pistol on the left, and the tooth necklaces. Toba(Talian is his first name) is 5'11 with a buzz cut and brown eyes, same shape as Saul's. He's always got two DL-18s on his hips, as well as a necklace. Tanya is the same height as Toba, with long deep black hair in a few braids and side locks and green eyes. She's got a lean and muscular build, especially with her legs. She is somewhat self-conscious over having a flatter chest than most of the female cast. She also has a pair of durasteel knives sheathed on the back of her waist, as well as DC-17s on her hips. She has the necklace from episode nine. Sareena's a pantoran, about Saul's height, and is not as well built as the others. She's also more endowed than Tanya. She's got a DL-44 on her. Saurthen is about 6'0, has a brown Fu Manchu crossed with a goatee, both with hints of gray. As far as weapons, he has a vibroblade and a DL-18.]

Any guests arrive, they'll be dealing with a bunch of troopers ready to go loud. Saul: As for the activities, nothing more than taking out the trash. Harrison and Sonquel are - scratch that, were - nothing more than a couple of dumbasses that thought some stern words would work with me.

My commander, i have collected some intel on the bellator and it seems to have a big oversight in design, the ship is vast and has overwhelming firepower but lacks any kind of long range capabilities, I suggest a strike force of long range frigates with a substantial fighter swarm to match, I suspect Captain Juno Eclipse's modified Nebulon B would be a great template for a highly maneuverable long range fleet to dismantle the Bellator without sustaining immense casualties

Captain's Log #27. Greetings Commander, I have reports that the Black Sun to be making large fleets and researching older ship designs. I'm concerned they will have access to larger CIS vessels. We have a bigger issue. Our fleets are almost enitrely destroyed. It seems only a few ships and our flagships stand. We need to rebuild ships and press the empire from the south to relieve the north. Perhaps we take Manaan and Onderon to use as a chokepoint? I must be going now, I have a meeting requesting aid from the Command staff. Admiral Pisces out.

Rebel Diaries 27 - Nothing has come down from the north... so, I'm assuming Leia is still building up forces to retake Scipio. Hopefully that comes soon. Though, I can report that we have not been idle down here where we are. No, we haven't attacked Zhar, though some are wondering about that... but I'd argue we've done better than that with a couple of more strikes toward the core, and ones that have gone a lot easier than expected. First, we started with Manaan, and I must admit that I have some personal satisfaction in taking this world. Mostly because of Vader's presence. The man who murdered my father and the man who killed Ben Kenobi... only just after Old Ben had told me about my father being a Jedi Knight... The man is a cyborg monstrosity, and the helmet is scary looking. In a way he does fit the image of the terror the Empire wants to give. But on Manaan, I managed to lure him into a trap. He came roaring after the infantry with me as I held a capturable turbolaser. It, and a pair of transports fired on him, which slowed him down. Then as he got closer to me, the rest of our infantry came in from behind him and they gave him enough of a distraction that I was able to slice through one of his arms. The weapon of my father taking down the monster that killed my father... I will take some personal satisfaction in that... even if it isn't exactly the Jedi way. I can't help it... Vader's done so much to so many. It's only fair that he get taken down a peg or two. From there, we moved on to take Cato Neimodia, and this battle was even easier. We managed to take down an Imperial convoy in the region and Admiral Tallon's forces were able to take down the small Imperial fleet that was defending the planet's orbit, and I got to see one of the new MC cruisers come in and it did a lot. Together with the Dauntless in this fleet the Imperial ships couldn't match it. Hopefully more such ships are on the way at Mon Calamari and other planets. For something in the Force tells me that even with these attacks and operations, the blows we've delivered to the Empire will not last long. We will need more. But for the moment, that wasn't the thing to worry about, as we still had to secure the ground at Cato Neimodia. Though, much like the space battle, that went surprisingly easy. The Imperials were build onto some hanging cities and bridges, and we found a set of old droid works. General Kota in one of his more... calm... moments, explained they were the enemy that the Jedi thought was aligned with the Sith in the Clone Wars... before Palpatine and Vader arrived. The tanks these droid works provided proved quite helpful, and I can see why the Black Sun uses them. They helped us capture the world and that's now what has us in a bit of a pickle... Not because of a direct or immediate threat from the Empire, but a question on what to do next. Admiral Tallon has asked my advice, much to my surprise. I mean... I've only just got started as a Jedi. Even with the win over Vader, I don't have General Kota's experience or Old Ben's powers. There are things that I feel... but they could just be hunches. For where we are, presents us with easy avenues into other coreward worlds, and the Empire may be shaken by Vader's defeat. And maybe some of them could be raided, provided enough raiders are assembled, but there are going to be a lot of other areas where we will need help to build up. Our fleet is tiny and largely the scraps of part of two other fleets, and the other fleet is the remnants of the battle with Admiral Daala. I just get the sense that for long term success... we will need more. Particularly to take on not just the Empire but some of the other worlds that their allies control. The Wheel and Mandalore might be good targets to take... but I get the sense that we may need to commit EVERYTHING we presently have just to damage the Black Sun in those regions. The Empire is weaker in some other areas of late... but they have great industrial capacity and will surely have some ground to space weapons that we can't easily endure. We may need to build up more for space before looking into any more major campaigns... but that's also just what the Force is telling me. A small strike may work... but I'd leave the final decision to Admiral Tallon. - Luke Skywalker

Captains Log: Captain Rylan “Saber 1” Brask. Alliance Fighter Squadron Lead [X-Wing Squadron Callsign Saber] Well the medics cleared me to fly but we don’t have any orders. I guess we’re still trying to build up the northern fleet after our losses over Dathomir. Can’t say I blame command for that. Gives me more time to make sure I’m 100% before we go back out on a mission. Saber Squadron was given orders for a patrol soon after I was cleared to fly. A small group of Imperials had come up from the surface trying to escape the system before we decided to invade. I don’t think I’ve had an easier time blasting TIEs. I don’t know why they had TIEs with them when they don’t have hyperdrives. Basically just doomed their pilots. The officer who ordered them up is also dead so there's that. Seems our southern fleet is having much more fun than we are. But they also appear to be distracting the Imps for us. Heard they managed to make it all the way to Cato Neimoidia, meaning we’re officially in the Core Worlds now. And one step closer to liberating my home planet. Like I said nothing much going on in the Northern front, it's kinda nice hanging around Scipio though. I do hope we get combat orders soon. Also, if anyones heard rumors of pirates infiltrating The Liberation and one of them being killed, I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations. Captain Brask, Out. [END OF LOG]

Doesn’t help that we aren’t getting many combat orders either, we’re all bored out of our minds. Maybe I oughta ask if Saber Squadron can fly with Rogue Squadron again for a mission or two. Judging by the fact you’re up and walking the surgery went well?” [NOTE: I saw your comment chain with Billy and I will say the “Firebrand incident” wasn’t 100% completed, in my mind at least. Kayla would currently be on the hospital ship getting psychiatric help since the reason she fought with Rylan and Witton was her brainwashing kicked in due to the Firebrand among other factors. Basically she was a pseudo-sleeper agent who after interrogating Kyle Katarn, managed to start fighting the conditioning.]

My rule of thumb when conquering planets in EAW is to make an push for an planet that can host an significant amount of defensive platforms only then can I rest assured or worry less about the space station and ground forces.

24:38 If you pause and aim your bombardment carefully you can call it in on units revealed by fire (like that turret). You just have to do it CAREFULLY. The range of this reveal is about 20, so it's around the radius of the turret model, so just call it in there.

I would of liked some more ships being built from the numerous shipdocks in the south i suggest rebuilding the 2 backuran destroyers and keep up building quazars i thunk the bulk freighters did a good job for poimt def and the attractor beam did well but i think a few dreadnaughts in front of that would beef up the fleet allot not to mention i think mc40s in the south would work amazing

going after Vader was probs a mistake, Manaan was only under threat from Cato (Which was already taken) and Onderon (which I can't imagine is to heavily defended). But now Vader is gonna respawn somewhere else and give the Empire a free Star Destroyer. Also there is a fleet building up on Zhar, may be worth at least putting down a defenesive station in the area

For big ships I've found that light torpedoes for the shield generators, then heavy/mediums for the weapon hard points tend to work. Mc30's use large torpedoes, so 5-6 spread along the length of the big ship with tanky ships in front (like dreadnoughts) tends to work. If you spread them out they'll fire at closest turrets so you can have 6 taken out instead of 1 with overkill. Sometimes you can pathfinder a faster ship than it, the enemy tends to not switch targets. You can run the ship around to give your fighters time, and keep it away from carriers you use against it. As many heavy turbos as you can get.

You don't have to take Rendili and Kuat, just destroy the shipyards.. while taking Corellia and making it the FOB. Then Onderon, Trandosha to secure the backside. Fleets at Wheel and Mandalore are going to become a problem eventually.

Shack corruption is not necessarily bad, especially when it's not connected to their territory. Sometimes it makes units and buildings on those planets cheaper. As for raids, if Chewbacca can capture AT-AT, Rendili should go a good target for that.

3:50 It's completely possible to raid this and win without cheesing the battle, you just have to know the map, choose the appropriate units and control them very tightly. Very high skill manoeuvre.

Definitely say go for Correlia. you can always just hang in one corner of the map, scout out where the research centers are, and send in fighter strikes. Those are the priority to take out. Taking the ground would be lovely - but also may not be possible without throwing a lot of your army in and with heavy losses. So take Correlia in space or do fighter strikes on the research stations. If you can invade it quickly do so. If not, go hit Rendil and take the ground. Then see if you're in a positionw here you can circle back to hit Correlia. But don't try and get into an engagement where you'll need like a 30-40 unit army to take the planet.

Take Corellia. It is a bigger hit to the Empire in terms of losing invested tech, a bigger reward to you in terms of getting new units you can make as well as also a discount on CR-90s and such (if they are built there), and the Bellator might be under construction there. The Bellator could also be under construction at Rendilli, Kuat, Bilbringi, or Yaga Minor; I wouldn't be so sure it is being constructed on Kuat. The Empire did start building an Executor during this game, but canceled it. Could have been that Executor was being built at Kuat. Who knows? Either way, take BOTH Corellia and Rendilli soon! You can build huge space defenses there, to protect Cato Nemoidia and that entrie avenue of approach. If you put Ions down on both Corellia and Rendilli, and max out the space stations, plus a few extra ships/fighters, you could probably hold there against truly massive attacks. Plus, you can get Dreadnaughts and Assault Frigates cheaper at Rendilli, so I would say you should put a medium shipyard there and a Light Shipyard at Corellia for CR-90s at a discount

Hear me out: Rebel Officers as a stealth unit with a U-Wing that can hold 2 infantry units. Officers limited to 3 vs the Empire's 5 due to less resources. Also limit raiding parties size to offset the OP stealth gunships.

You could pick the Wheel to death with a few fighter raids. Drop fighters/bombers in, nuke a big ship, run away - you know, just rebel things. That may be time consuming though.

Hey there Shack, well on Cato Neimodia, where you landed, if you would have taken one of your speeder bikes straight back there was a Droid Works also. I usually get Super Battle Droids or Droidekas from it. Just letting you know in case you have to defend or retake the planet. I gotta go for a bit but Rebel High Command will send an Intel Eval for this stage of the War. We are proud of you for using those old Bulk Cruisers, our research/tech people did their best to make them relevant and it seems they have become an integral part of the fleet, plus their anti-fighter and tractor beam capabilities make valuable as well. I can't get going too much gotta get to a Rebel Food Warehouse HEB to pick up supplies for the wife. Even in war, a happy wife is a happy life.

If you build a capital shipyard on Sullust, Dauntlesses will be cheaper there than anywhere else in the galaxy. Multiple shipyards decrease the build time and sympathizer outposts decrease build time of space structures.

Aside from the first ground battle being a little rocky, the rest was executed excellently. Im not exaggerating when i say I play about 4-6 hours of this mod _daily!_ And I couldn't have executed your space battle over, and ground battle for, Cato Nemodia better than you did. 👏 👏 Bravo, good sir. Regarding the first battle though, that's why I always emphasize the importance of locating and capturing of the large turret pads. Or ..at the very least.. watching for when the enemy is doing so. :P But you keep making 'em, I'll keep watching 'em.

I would recommend taking the Maw. It can be a tough battle, but it is cut off and once you have it it's easy to defend via Kessel, and gives you 10% off on up to 4 space tech buildings.

[intel] How to change that fleet. Honestly its a good mix, what i would add to it is 5 squads of fighters and 10 squads of bombers, for sneaky strikes of opportunity. This would actually be a separate detachment in case of near by lone ISDs on sensors. As I said.. good fleet mix, just add something to take advantage of targets of opportunity. [tactical] What to do next? hit rendil or corellia? I present a third choice. pull out completely - wait for the empire to move in a fleet and ground troops, THEN hit their troops. bait and switch.

Well i believe you need to build up your fleet and hit corelelia just to destroy the ship yards then crush the empire on the ground. You already stopped the executor if your quick enough you can get to kuat and shut down most of the imperial navys production.

hate to say it but you will need space stations on throws plates. if you don't build them the black suns or the empire can just move on throw to another planet. example by not having a space station on Muunilinst , dathomir and kessel the enemy can attack planets linked to them throw hyper space and into your back lines.

the easy, but boring, solution to dealing with the Empire's Super Capital Ships is X wings. Sure, you can throw in 10 squadrons of A wings, 10 Squadrons of B wings, maybe some U wings to spice things up, but honestly all you need are X wings. Alpha strike any hangars and flak ships with their torpedoes, clear the space of all strike craft, take out shield generators, and then just focus fire the "hull" point to just chew through cap ship after cap ship. If you use enough strike squadrons, this strategy results in very few actual losses. Its kinda broken. The X wings is just... so versatile. The 4 medium lasers are accurate enough to dogfight strike craft while having enough punch to slowly eat through heavier ships, and due to their speed and maneuverability they can launch their light proton torpedoes MORE OFTEN than dedicated bombers can fire their harder hitting torps. Y wings would be worth building if the X wing didn't exist. B wings have enough punch that it makes it worth while bringing like 5-10 squadrons into a fight, and A wings are worth bringing for their concussion missiles. The less cheesy strategy is to use a balanced group of strike craft, hammerheads, and MC 30's. The Super capitals have a hard time hitting corvettes and MC30's, and the MC30's torpedoes wreak subsystems pretty fast.

I was thinking if you decided to attack towards Kuat. I would only "snipe" the shipyards and attack with 1 or 2 Tanky Capital ships as a distraction (maybe sacrifice them) and fill the rest of your pop cap with at least 50% H wings and the rest with fighters because I am concerned about the Imperial Capital Ship fleets in the North and else where. My thoughts are it would be better in the short term if you minimizing your Capital Ship losses with this little incursion you have begun because I am sure the Imps are going to counter attack. Also your very low on Capital ships. If I were to guess half of your total Capital ships cap are hero units which I think for your income and territory is too small.

The Bellator isn’t nearly as strong as the executor. It has a large fighter complement, but only two hangars, which you can target. I was able to destroy one with a couple capital ships maneuvering behind it and 5 each of x wings and y wings targeting hangars then engines
