Great work. I have the original Halcyon 1:1 scale model of the chestburster. I had an idea years ago to make a lab tube similar to yours for it. But I was going to make it from two large glass tubular vases from a garden centre; one with a slightly smaller diameter than the other so it would fit inside the larger one. The chestburster would go into the smaller vase and then that would go into the larger vase. The small gap between the two vases would be filled with water with a fish-tank pump (hidden from view) to make bubbles rise up in the water. The finished thing would create the illusion that the chestburster was suspended in liquid, even though in reality it was completely dry and wouldn't get damaged by the water. The whole thing would be uplit with a colour changing LED lightbulb. I'll make it one day. . . Hail Odin

Even if I don't want to make the prop that he's making, I always learn such great craft tips from watching Odin's DIYs!
@AcheronLV-4263 ай бұрын
Question(s)! If I wanted to do a more movie-realistic tube, with liquid inside, what liquid would be best to use to not destroy or breakdown the prop? Would it be better to use a "dual-layer" tube to create the illusion the prop is in the preserving liquid and then its not actually in the liquid? I have so many questions!
@angusmclaren62577 жыл бұрын
Also, as a personal take on the prop, this works very well. It adds a story, it looks the part and it's cheap to make.

The only problem i have with it is the steel counter tact foil, it wrinkled terribly on the sides, your better off using sheet metal or aluminum or something, and also the acrylic tube was tooooo thin i dunno his thickness but I would want it atleast between 1/16th and 1/32nd of an inch. So it feels sturdy and it doesnt flex when you touch it. Other than that, thats a great idea, sadly im to shaky to do any of the saw or wood work and also lack the tools
