An idea for DIY PROP SHOP: It would be super cool if you could do (from Star Trek) a Borg ocular implant or the cybernetic arm, or both, I wouldn't mind. Did not like Legend of Korra myself, though I'm a big AtLA fan. Because Korra was basically a clump of mini series, it lacked a grand plot to give it focus. AtLA was much better in that regard. First series was good. Second series was the worst and kinda ruined the rest.

I agree I prefer TLAB than LOK, but Korra did have some highlights and I did like the action scenes better. In terms of characters TLAB for sure. The 'Books' or seasons whatever they're called for me ,were kinda up and down. First was alright, 2 and 3 were meh and 4 was not bad

Fundy Namic I made a tube out of WonderFlex and then covered it in fabric! Then I used a large crochet hook to get my hair through!

if you would like a stream of water/fire/air get a piece of half transparent fabric (2.5-3metres square) the same colour as your element of choice (Blue, for water is recommended if combined with this cosplay since it matches Korra's outift) place a moderately heavy object (see through, or solid blue, Christmas tree baubles work amazingly) in the centre of the fabric, close the object inside and make sure it's impossible for it to escape. (if you are using a Christmas bauble and it has a string attached to it, make that poke out of the side of the fabric, get a piece of fishing line 75cm - 85cm in length and tie a strong knot to the bauble string, if you're not using a bauble, attach the line to the "stream" using whatever you please. Once your string is attached to your "stream" you can "bend" it. (If the fishing line hurts your hand, get a ring-shaped item and tie the string to it, put the ring on and grip the string with your fingers.)

I noticed that you mentioned using the original concept art as references for this build and I wonder if you know whether or not they also released art for the last airbender and where I could find it? I'm trying to get started on a white lotus uncle Iroh cosplay, but I haven't been able to find any suitable patterns or reference images myself. Also, in answer to your question, I feel that I would be a waterbender in the Avatar world; I don't mind the cold and waterbending also has awesome extra abilities like healing and bloodbending. The thing that I always struggle thinking about with cosplays based on cartoons is getting the textures right. On the one hand, I like the aesthetic of some of the stuff of the Last Airbender movie , but it went too far in adding texture. The trouble I have is that the colors need to stay recognizable and credible, but they need to stay true to the show in how 'flat' they are in the show, so they remain recognizable. So, I tend to refer to functionality. For Amon, for example, I imagine that I might look at fabrics that are (relatively) fireproof, seeing as his initial targets were the Triads of Republic City. So, something made out of wool, for example. Now, I wouldn't make a cosplay that was made out of wool, because that'd get warm very fast, but you could take a look at wool fabrics to see what kind of texture you want to emulate on your clothes. And, obviously, I'd be.. eh.. I want to say I'm an equalist, but in truth, I'm probably a firebender. ;-; Sorry, brethren.

I have to ask (as a guy) how you did the ponytail like that? I need something similar with a braid for a male cosplay i have coming up and It's been a nightmare finding examples/wigs/extensions that might work

Winter_Chill Arda Wigs sells a ponytail wig that a lot of cosplayer she use. If your hair is long enough, 3 inches or longer, I would definitely just use extensions. Bring your hair into a ponytail and wrap the fake hair around it. Then cover it with the hair wrap!

I've made All of Korra's costumes... i couldn't afford the stretch suede...or even find it. I don't like buying fabric online. I like being able to touch the stuff I'm buying, so I used regular stretch jersey, or dance Lycra...which ever was in stock at my local joann's. except for her book 3/book 4 shirt. for that I used two XL t-shirts that I dyed One and used the other for trimming. and for her book 4 runaway look. I used a t-shirt for the tunic and I dyed and altered a pair of target lounge pants.

You can use a zigzag stitch on a normal sewing machine to keep the stretch of the fabric, though it doesn't always have a cleaner finish compared to overlocking
