I see you keep looking to buy a Dutch Oven. The main tip I would give is to be sure to get one with feet, that way you can cook over coals. Also make sure lid is flat and has a lip to it so that you can put coals on top. Using both coals under and on top is the best method for cooking in a Dutch Oven. Love watching your videos!

Love your video's. As a veteran I find I get lost in panning for gold. Keeps the voices and images at bay. I watch as many of your video's as possible and learn as much as I can from each video. I have bought pay dirt before and my daughter and I have a blast doing it. We live in Montana and wondering if you have been to Libby MT?? From some research and what I understand is that in the area if you find gold you keep. I know your busy and I'm a nobody but do you have a video of that area?. Thank you for your time

All your videos are good Shane, there's always a sense of hunting down something. Gold, coins, jewelry, bargains... i enjoy the chase! The other day i went to an actual goods auction. It was an eye opener. Hardly any public folk, mainly dealers in antiques and the like. I realised that they all knew the price of the items, the bidding was to see how much profit they could make on them! I ended up buying a little china dish from Austria. 246 years old. I got it for $155. Saw the same thing on eBay for $200. The dealers all seemed to be aiming for a 30% profit - the dish went up to $140 then everyone seemed to lose interest. Then i bid $145, some old biddy took it to $150 and i got it for $155. I've never spent so much on something that i never needed or collected but it was an interesting little thing in perfect condition that is as old as the USA itself. Later i was mingling with some real old dealers and they were talking how things can lose huge amounts of value depending on whats popular. At the moment antique furniture has slumped but vintage furniture (40's - 80's) is highly valued. Asian items aren't in demand but old industrial stuff is going through the roof! The little dish i bought would be hard to sell I was told, no one wanted that type of thing at the moment. I told them i was going to keep it and one fellow said it really belongs in a museum, it had high historical value but just not collector value ( whatever that meant) I also bought a little Japanese tea set, $25. One of the dealers said that in the 80's it would have gone for $400. It was very wistful talking to these old gents and ladies. They were the last of their kind and it made me sad to think of all the knowledge and experience that was disappearing.

$5 for that Bogen tripod is an amazing deal! FYI Manfrotto (Vitec) have purchased a lot of other companies in the past so you'll often find models and brand names merged. Also I wouldn't call Manfrotto the best tripods as their recent models have dropped in quality to target the average budget consumer, but their older models are hard to beat. Nice find! 👍👍

That last place reminds me of the time I went to a yard sale and they wanted like $50 for a used fishing pole in kind of rough shape. The really bad part is that you could go two blocks over to the store and get the same exact fishing pole brand new for $20.

Every estate sale that I have been to had massive markup on prices. I remember one particular local sale...they kept funneling more and more junk from other properties to that particular property. Every time we went, there was more of everything after they had sold down. My best find there were these bronze medals of...I think it was Richard Nixon. There had to have been 500 of them there that some fly-by-night marketing company probably convinced the owners to buy at some point. Numismatists like just collecting junk like that. I paid $40 bucks for all of them. They probably weighed 50 pounds or more. Straight to Ebay. I never figured up everything that I made from them because it was a one-off thing and, but it had to have been somewhere around $1,000 - $1,500 selling them in little groups of 5 and 10 each.

Here in Nashville there are several companies doing Estate Sales. Most are three days and the first 2 days prices are high (they look up value), 3rd day is half off, but if you go near closing time can get cheaper. After that they sell to someone who buys everything. Can find bargains sometimes... Furniture, clothes, and dishes arent good unless you need.

I really enjoy your videos. A few years ago, I loved going to estate sales and goodwill stores looking for treasures. I found some cool vintage pieces, but also some expensive things that I bought for almost nothing. For example, at a goodwill store, I bought 2 nice looking vintage bedside lamps for $3 each, after doing some research, I found out that they were worth about $500 each! I put them on ebay and they sold within 2 hrs for $300 for both. However, I had a bad experience also after I bought an antique looking hand carved wooden ox with metal horns at a goodwill store. I didn't notice that someone was probably watching me and followed me home. He or she opened the trunk of my car at night where I had placed it because I didn't think it was a valuable item and left it in there when I got home. They stole it! They didn't steal anything else from my car, just that item. I stopped going treasure hunting after that.

At the last Estate Sale store, old items were more expensive than when they were new. Funny😁 I'm sure that if you go there in a year, these same things still will be on the shelves there. 😅

At the 7:05 mark, there were a couple old Mitchell 300 series reels there. They are a nice reel, if they are in good shape, and easy to refurbish. I have a couple from my granddad, it's a pleasant project for a winter evening to pull one apart and get it ready to go for next year. At 7:21, that looks like a Slavia pellet rifle. Made in Czechoslovakia back in the day, break action, pretty potent for a .177 pellet rifle. (I used mine for sniping rats in the barn when I was a kid.) Oh and 100 bucks for those cast iron pans is not a good deal, unless they are something spooky rare. Not so much a yard/garage sale as an open air antique store.

@@itatane I would think that as a collector, those prices seem even more obsurd.

I enjoy all the videos, but the yard sale ones are a fun mix-up from the gold prospecting at home series. There were some silver spoons in that box of utensils in the first estate sale (I could see hallmark/stamp on some). Were they asking too much $ or you just weren't interested? Thanks

Not silver, just stamped “IS” or something else meaning silver plate.
