Well I’ll be darned! I’ve been waxing, carving, inlaying and hand painting pottery for years. Love it! I never knew there was an official name for what I was doing, until now. And you are absolutely right...those particular pieces tend to be priceless. They can really be labor intensive if you get into a lot of detail, which I can’t seem to keep from doing. If i colour the bisqueware with underglaze and brush on clear glaze after it dried, will the colour smear due to brushing of clear if i did not separate the firing of the underglaze and clear glaze?

We want to see the bottom of the pots, because we're taught in classes that the sign of a great potter, is how the feet of the pot look.

I ask people all the time to show me their pottery bottoms, but never meant to be critical. I just like to see how they sign them and if the glazes look as good on the back, or how they will hang them, or because I want to learn how to improve my own pots. That's all.
