I recently purchased your singing course, and I’m very happy I made that decision. Had two twelve hour days driving across the country and I probably spent 1/3 of that time doing exercises with you. Gotta say Ken you’re a great passenger!

I just did your warm ups and it really helps broaden your ability to execute pleasant tones. I was a featured church soloist for years and have been back at my home church now for 3 years. I followed the requirements to be a soloist,i.e., try out and give testimony about my salvation. My heart attitude is appropriate about WHY I want to sing again. I had a collection of favorite songs I loved that meant a lot to me but the rule is that if someone else has done one of “my” songs while I was gone, then you cannot sing that song. The rationale being that people in the congregation will not compare singers doing the same song. I understand that. So, I asked our director if he would let me do some of the solo parts of the new octavos we might do and he said yes. But new ones have come and he still chooses his favorite people to do them when they are parts that I could do easily and really speak to me. There are many people in my church that remember me and have asked me about why don’t I sing again. I have said all this to say that I was asked to sing a special song for a friend whose husband just passed away (because it was his favorite song). It has been done by another friend in regular church service and she is fine with me doing it at the funeral service. Ken, I have not done a solo in 25 years, it’s a new song for me and I’m nervous! The choir director will be there too. I n my heart, I want to sing my best for my friend. But truly, part of me wants to show my director that he is hiding my candle so to speak. God has given me a talent that used to bless people, but he apparently thinks I’m not good enough to be a soloist on a Sunday morning. I feel that my calling is to reach people for the Lord through my life, and the deliverance of messages in the songs. I have no other axe to grind. I know your testimony and I’m asking for prayers for God to sing through me this Saturday, March 11. I will continue to do your videos because of your testimony for God and vocal teachings.

Maybe instead of God thinking you’re not good enough to be a soloist you should look at it as God giving you a chance to prove yourself on Saturdayday. I wish you the best of luck, I’m sure you’ll do great!

Brings back meager beginnings from 2017. Here in WV, where we pipe in sunshine, get home by grapevine, no internet in the state forest where I practice, so I had put all the audio on cassette (MUCH easier to cue).I wanted to skip the warm ups ,go straight to my newest project BUT?...I KNEW I needed these and needed ta "pay my dues vocally" just as I had for instruments in the 60s/70s. (STILL PAYIN...lol) Gang ! if ya start this venture, DO NOT shirk these warm ups... Do them ALL ....SLOW... not hurryin thru them. Let Kens R brain exps work their magic on ya. (PING is KING... match HIS timbre )The results will start showin up in your arrs' when ya least expect it?... Simply MAGIC, once muscle memory takes over using proper vowel mods for phrasing.😎

I recently watched one of your warm-up videos and found it very interesting. I have a question regarding the vocal registers used in the warm-up. Could you please clarify if, during the exercise, you are primarily singing within one register and pulling the chest voice upwards, or if there is a transition occurring between the chest voice and the head voice?

Hey Ken I appreciate those great examples… Vocal warm ups are extremely important to be done correctly… Bigger voices such as mine need a longer time, since I like to stretch mine all the way going up and all the way going down… I usually run through all the possible vowels it really helps… However I noticed, that there are days I need to spend up to an hour in even more to really consider it’s entirely stretched… Other days it takes less time and I get happy results & stay proud… The frustration kicks in, when there are specific things each day that need attention and only those need work… Sometimes I don’t seem to identify them entirely, but only a part… Which leads me to run through the same thing over and over, but some parts ( registers) of my voice remain unwoken…. Not completely sure whether open vowels or closed once are more helpful in this case???? Any Recommendations & Advice???

Ken, what about vocal breaks? (I mean the place where you switch vocal rergisters). Is it okay to ignore them or just to try to push everything possible into the chest voice? I am curious because I have a good support and vocalization as a choir singer but my voice naturally has a lot of breaks. SOme of them I have overcamed, but some still exist. Is this something bad? I wonder if it's okay to perform these warmups in my case or maybe I have to work additionaly for overcaming the vocal breaks with another exserecise and to do these warmups you show in the video at a later stage? I am a little confused.
