Was supposed to be in the class on the date this video was shot. I will enroll again in 2022. What a great instructor! I took a lot away in a 30 min. video.

Dave, Thanks for sharing your expertise! I learned a lot in this short video. Your work is beautiful. Sorry for the people who are complaining in the comments. They obviously can't see past your unique presentation style to see your genius and craftiness. I appreciate the offering here. Good on ya!

This video was really soothing to watch and very informative, and I like your quirky personality. Thank you! I feel very called to try out marquetry. I love working with wood but I want to do something for which I don't need a workshop and many tools. Marquetry is perfect since it's quite minimal on space and tools but maximal on the satisfactory & beauty levels :)

I absolutely agree about the minimal tools, and the quirky personality. You have to go with what you've got.

Thanks for sharing your techniques. I'm also interested to know the process of moving from blue tape to veneer tape, but also to know how you cut the larger area shapes so they fit perfectly.

Is it possible to buy the whole kit that your classes make? I’m not the best at woodworking but I am very interested in Marquetry and inlay. I would try to follow your guidance from your KZbin videos. I’m really curious at what’s all included ( I guessing tools and hard templates are not included)?

I noticed the veneer is much thicker than what I've seen being sold online. Where did you purchase that veneer and what is the thickness ?
@daveheller3268
@daveheller3268 4 жыл бұрын
That is standard thickness veneer : about 1/42 of an inch, 0.020 inches.

What's the big chisel tool called that you were cutting with? How do you make the fillet tool that scores the veneer? Thanks in advance.
@daveheller3268

The chisel is a Record 2" firmer chisel. I like its heft. I make the fillet maker on a table saw with a sacrificial fence. It's a bit fiddly but doable.

How did you notch the wood piece that you used to register with the piece of veneer to 2 MM??

table saw. It is fiddly but doable. I make them in bunches so that the setup time seems better.

Show the next steps too. He mentioned veneer tape, so show changing from the random bits of blue tape to that, then how to attach it to a base too.
