I am very glad that I stumbled upon your videos Dr. Russ. There are a lot of air gun videos on KZbin but yours are definitely my favorite! I believe that I have watched 6 or so and every single one is informative and interesting. I purchased my first air gun yesterday (a Benjamin Armada .25) and it should arrive next week. I just wanted you to know that it is because of your videos that I went with that particular air rifle. I didn’t realize the importance of not going too big and powerful for backyard and “plinking”. If it wasn’t for your informative videos I probably would have purchased a .45 or even .50 caliber and that would have been loud and dangerous. I really appreciate all of the important information and entertainment that I get watching your videos. Thank you Dr. Russ.

Mark ... I am sure you will be happy with that Benjamin Armada in 25 caliber. It remains one of my favorites ... both the gun and the caliber for backyard friendly and critter control. Please share your experiences in the future ... and I am glad to hear that our videos are helping make you Air Gun Sharp. Dr. Russ

Your videos are very genuine and whole-hearted I appreciate them. You are not loud and over ecstatic but rather calm and also share stories while doing your videos. Like I’m speaking to my dad or grandpa about hunting. I want to get the Benjamin armada and plan too soon. Looking forward to more videos and love your property in Michigan, very beautiful

Brian... it is good to hear from you. My Benjamin Armada is my favorite air rifle and I am sure you will enjoy yours. Consider getting the 25 caliber version instead of 22. The most common complaint is not getting the highest caliber .... a little like the guy who buys a boat ... and soon wished he had gotten the bigger version of that model. I hope we can continue to be a value to you ... in helping you become Air Gun Sharp. Thanks again....Dr. Russ

I have ordered a replacement recoil reducing rail ... Its set up with a red dot and laser dot parallel to the bore its my goto for night time vermin in my yard. Would you even recommend a scope for under 40 yards?

@@drsrussandpaula I use a Stoeger X5 .177 to cull the toxic pest cane toads we have here in Australia. It’s low-powered though perfect for this job as the target is right at the end of the muzzle. Though your videos are inspiring me to look at something I could use for traditional hunting of something I could eat such as rabbits. I like the Gamo Swarm with it’s magazine feed. Keep up your great videos & words of wisdom. 👍

Very interesting and informative information, I definitely took notes. you are very Correct, crows are one of the most challenging creatures to hunt with an air rifle or 22.lr. They are highly intelligent Cooperative species of birds. I hope in the future you can make videos on hunting squirrels. Hunting pest squirrels in someone's yard is easy, but for me hunting them and their environment is extremely difficult for me, maybe you can make a more detailed video on the subject for individuals who are having trouble. Thank you for being a content provider on the subject, unfortunately in the future, these types of content will be hard to find on KZbin.

Hi Dr. Russ very informative videos keep them coming . Just got a gammo swarm Magnum. I watched a few video that suggest that the scope that comes with it is not the best . Any suggestions for a scope for that riffle ? Also do you have any tips on hunting green vervet monkey's? Thanks again
@drsrussandpaula2 жыл бұрын
Maxwell Wilkin ... it is good to hear from you .... and no recommendations on hunting any kind of monkeys ... however, I do have a good source for scopes and that is from Fieldsupply.com.... they have many scopes ... but I have ordered over a dozen of the CP (Center Point from Crosman) and so they are built for the unusual kick of an air gun ... plus they arrive in like new condition at about half price of retail. You will find 2 ...one at about $40 and one at about $60... get the $ 60 if you plan to hunt with it... Dr. Russ

Dennis ... your request for information on a Hatsan Bull boss fell thru the cracks here ... only to be discovered 9 months later. My apologies....Assuming you are still looking for a Hatsan air gun ... I would go to Fieldsupply.com ... or to Hatsan.com in Florida ... both places offer new and refurbished air guns... and both are good... I have used them and typically purchase a refurbished air gun at a 40 to 50% discount.... Dr. Russ

So I have doubts about the power and capabilities of my gun, I have the "GAMO Black Bear IGT", is it powerful enough for hunting or it'll be leaving wounded animals?
@russjones64973 жыл бұрын
Ekinc Ekinc .... it is good to hear from you ... The Gamo Black Bear IGT will definitely kill small and medium size game... In fact, I have a new video coming in about two weeks that shows my Gamo in 22 caliber with 2 destructive Woodchucks ... one destructive squirrel and 4 starlings. One woodchuck was at 55 yards and took 3 rounds and the other was at 30 yards and took 4 rounds..... shot placement is huge and that first one really needs to hit the head (mine did not)... fortunately, they were in open areas that didn't let them crawl off too far while I put finishing rounds in them.... I believe the head shot is important with any air gun ... even PCP and even with large bore. Powder guns often are not one shot killers ... Still we use them because a cannon would destroy too much meat. Powder guns have more velocity and energy and allow that first shot to go thru the chest organs... they also allow a nice head mount for trophy's... Pellet and slug guns have less velocity and energy and that first shot needs to go thru the head. Follow up shots are often required by both. Practice, practice, practice to make sure this is possible... Dr. Russ

Yes blackswordshinobi ...some states just haven't seen the light yet ... but they will. In the mean time you have two options.... shoot squirrels just in the head which you wouldn't eat anyway .... and secondly, find a source in a neighboring state that does allow 357 to hunt big game. Pyramid Air has a section in their web site that tells the rules in each state... Dr. Russ

Good to hear from you Dennis Cox... first explain the problem to your charge card and they will get your money back... Secondly, click onto my circular photo to access our full channel of videos... Not long ago, I did a video on "Buying Refurbished Air Guns" and while many are afraid of buying refurbished, I have had no trouble ... and when you understand that refurbished means that a air gun gunsmith completed reviewed and fixed the gun ... which is better than a shipping clerk at a factory or wholesaler... you might consider using them too. I have purchased two Bull Bosses from Hatsan in Florida and love them both ... I believe the price was under $400 each... check out that video and also check Field Supply . com for a refurbished Center Point (Crosman) scope ... they have two ...one for about $ 40 and one for about $ 60 ... get the more expensive if you plan to hunt. These are not the scopes that come free with low end air rifles... Please keep us in your air gun loop of experiences... helping everyone stay air gun sharp... Dr. Russ
