how does this k20 ep3 swapped dc2 compare to the euro R h22 dc2 on straight line speed?
@PerformanceCarsChannel8 жыл бұрын
Hi, the K20 swapped DC2 is a lot faster than the H22 swapped DC2. Tuning the K20 is easier too I suppose as it is a more recent engine with lots of parts available.
@TheBb6prelude8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. You have an unbiased opinion on both. I'm not sure if the k20 dc2 had hondata base map or tune but if it did that makes a big difference. If you can ever get your hands on a h 2b setup I highly recommend. H series motor mated to a b series close ratio trans.

Great video, I really like the car. How would you rate this to the standard B18C6 engined DC2?
@PerformanceCarsChannel8 жыл бұрын
+Twin2 Civic Garage T2CG Many thanks for the comment and support. The k20 swap makes this car insanely fast. I can be on the limit with a b18c6 DC2 quite confidently but with this engine, I have to concentrate a lot more! Really tuneable engine too. Would highly recommend it but once you go k20, it's pretty much impossible to revert back to b18.
@twin2civicgaraget2cg758 жыл бұрын
I started my project to convert my EF civic to run a B18C4, way before K20 engine swaps were done regularly. If I was going to do the swap again, I think I would do a K20 swap. I am running a EP3 with a K20 as a daily, and fancy putting the engine into a EK civic in the future. Keep up the good work, I really like your content.

I timed the 25-60mph on this and I think it's the fastest of the all the cars you've reviewed bar the tesla. I think the 10-60 mph test times are misleading as you can see how much faster the cars are in their powerband. I get your using this as a 0-60 comparitive and don't want to damage people's cars launching them but it's not a fair comparison of acceleration. A big engined car or jap 4WD turbo with a launch will be faster than this to start with but once this gets going it would be closer in acceleration or faster. Does the VBox tell you 20/30-60mph time aswell? The EVO X 400hp got a 4.4 10-60mph (i got a 3.2 20-60mph) and this DC2 got a 5.8 10-60mph (I got 3.3 20-60mph)

do you have to have the shifter extension if you convert to a k20?
@Saugusari117 жыл бұрын
hahaha holy fuck that car is angry when you step on it. Props to the owner and awesome review! and damn, that h22 integra is a full second and more faster 0-60 than this one and this one is only 30kg heavier. You said this has around 230bhp with bolt ons, and 212 in h22 standard. The question is, is the torque so much bigger in this h22? + k20 wseems to have much shorter 1st and 2nd and it looks like that extra shift work actually harms its acceleration. Would like to hear your take on these things! CHEERS!
@PerformanceCarsChannel7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and support Marko. It is very quick and responsive which is exactly what you need in a track car. I felt that the H22 Integra was quicker too and it was proved by the times like you mentioned. Personally if I had a choice to go for a H22 or K20, I would still choose the K20 because the aftermarket support is huge compared to the H22. Regarding the acceleration and gear ratios, these can be changed but it will depend on what you will be using the car for i.e sprint racing, endurance racing, street driving etc. What would you choose?
@Saugusari117 жыл бұрын
Well ideally I would like to try both and then decide. But if I was deciding solely on these videos, my first thought is H22. But when I think about it k20 might be better for circuit due to its high revs and power curve. I might be wrong but K20 seems a bit pricey from what I've seen so far. And since I am a student H22 seems much more affordable. + the swap with B series transmission yields even quicker times. Only thing I am worried is that extra weight at the front. Back to my first sentence, I would like to try them both but I dont doubt that they would both be more than awesome to drive with correct suspension setup to avoid understeer. CHeers for the answer and continue the good work!

Why is it that some Hondas have the engine with the exhaust manifold outwards and some inwards?
@PerformanceCarsChannel8 жыл бұрын
+Lukvaz Munk Hi, it's to do with the rotation of the crank - clockwise or anti-clockwise. The earlier B series rotate anti-clockwise which is different to many engines. The K series changed this and they rotate clockwise. Hope that helps :)

Hi, I've heard of great things coming out of the K24 engine. I would also like to experience that set up as it generally has more torque than the K20. Driving a fully mapped K20 DC2 really is fast. Power is constant and with such a great chassis, it really is a fun car to drive/own.

Cool car. Way too stiff for the back roads though, I can tell by the way you're bouncing around in that seat and fighting the wheel. Mine used to be like this until I changed it to something that flowed with the road. Probably great on a track, nigh on useless on a bumpy B road IMO. Ace car bud, just not the way I'd set it up.
@PerformanceCarsChannel8 жыл бұрын
+SomeYoungGuy Johnson I totally agree with you, this car was making me crazy over the bumps but the owner does take this to track a lot! He has since changed his suspension to Tein monoflex with adjustable dampers and this setup is more forgiving. What car do you have now?
@someyoungguyjohnson72398 жыл бұрын
PerformanceCars Yeah, they're a bomb on the track but I think even better on back roads, where the steering and overall balance feel great in less violent transitions etc. I have an '01 CDM in Championship with red interior, grey wheels and original dealer add (Burrard Acura) ground effects kit. It was street raced and tracked a bit in Vancouver Canada in its' early life, but I've brought it back to stock in many ways, the stock suspension set-up is almost perfect!
@PerformanceCarsChannel8 жыл бұрын
+SomeYoungGuy Johnson That's great that you have managed to convert it almost back to stock as there can't be many around that has not been modified. How are the roads in Canada btw? Ours can be quite awful in places :(
@someyoungguyjohnson72398 жыл бұрын
PerformanceCars they're pretty bad here too, but I'm in a drier area near Vancouver so some are ok. The one's back east in the rust belt with all the crazy frenchmen driving? Yikes, most of those have been airborne lol. I own a small car lot so I've had a few over the years. Love em. My brother is the sales manager at a BMW dealership, he drives Nissan GT-R's, GT3's, M3's, 458's all the time etc etc. He drives his '01 Type-R more because he says it's just as fun with less tickets! I have to agree, I drove a new M5 the other day, practically fell asleep.
