I fished the Maumee River in the springtime for walleyes and I fish Lake Erie the Western basin doing the same thing you doing right there but we use 1 oz purple hair jigs

Thanks Brett! No requirement to use barbless hooks in this area. I usually try and use them when I catch and release however, particularly when catching perch and panfish.

I fish on the North side of the bridge and on the Canadian side.

Why you not use your electric motor? That’s the way we use to jig, back in the 70’s, before electric motors.

It boils down to comfort I guess. I usually have 2 people with me if I'm guiding and with the seat layout, there's almost no space for me to comfortably get around the guests to the bow. So I started back trolling instead and just got used to it. When I'm out on my own, I treat it as practice for when I have people out, so I just stay in the stern to hone my craft. That said, I just got a new boat that is larger and has a better seat configuration, so I'll be using the bow mounted trolling motor for jigging moving forward.
