Oi oi!!! Was there on Saturday and made sure I watched and photographed this fantastic display - the black clouds as a backdrop made those afterburners look even more sinister!!! Great video as usual TCS and Kudos to Ted for the taxi ride back to HQ!!!!

Amazing display! 👍 Shame he wasn't able to pull-off that 'signature' landing move though; I guess the low cloud put a stop to that incredible vertical climb, and then roll and free-fall back down to glide into a perfect landing.... Those practice displays earlier this year were just jaw-droppingly good to watch, with that landing just capping it off..... 😉 Great footage again Nikos and Ted.... 👍

Love our Typhoon, just wish the display was a bit more aggressive and closer in. After watching the Rafale, it was clean (no tanks) and very aggressive. Showing off the jet at the limit. Why the Typhoon has a tank on when it’s operating in and out of Fairfield is crazy… take it off and develop a display that is maximum attack. The typhoon has a lot more to offer.

Just taking a punt here but maybe it's about preserving the fatigue life of the aircraft. Perhaps the French don't care so much. Just one theory of mine but then again it's just a theory.

I thought it was a high energy routine with the Typhoon in afterburner/reheat for most of the time. 8 minutes on burner will go through a lot of jet fuel, which may explain why there was an external tank.

@@sonofalbion7651 I think the original comment refers to the aggressiveness of the maneuvering, not so much about the time in burner. We all know the Typhoon can roll faster and pull harder, even with external tank(s) but maybe it is limited to preserve fatigue life of the airframe.

@@sonofalbion7651 I’ve seen clean (no tank) displays before on the RAF typhoon. The tank is normally required for transit between coningsby and show area. It shouldn’t be required for a 9 min display. Rafale and typhoon very similar designs and specs, typhoon slightly more thrust. Just my point of view, display seems lacking compared to displays from 5 years + ago
