This video brought back a lot of memories. I spent 16 years re-enacting the American War of Independence, much of it serving cannons. As I watched the video, all I could think of was the loading and firing sequence. All of the cannons I served were beautiful reproductions, brass and iron. Good video....now go buy a swivel gun!

Well he used some weird low melting point metal to fill a giant void in, probably aluminum or some copper alloy. Whatever it was, I wouldn't trust my life on it bonding to the cast iron enough to not blow up when pressure build up behind a heavy ball. Paper and some snap rocks and nothing compared to gunpowder.

I love sandblasters. I have been using your techniques to do some pretty awesome repairs on equipment that is immersed in harsh chemicals. I’d like to recommend another chemical to try. CLR!!! It gets into corrosion areas, especially aluminum. Between the CLR, Marvel Mystery Oil, and PB Blaster, along with judicious use of a sandblaster, I’ve brought back some pretty well jammed steel parts on some equipment that would normally be scrapped. You have given me insight on how to revive things, I give you the three items above!
