I am pretty sure that they could not use the exact SHIELD heli-carrier from any of the films it was in, because they did not have any rights to anything from the MCU...the rights for Deadpool and the MCU were not joined at all for this film. If you look at the carrier in this, there are significant differences to make it clear that it is not the same as any version of the MCU heli-carrier. 👍

23:58 The dig is because 20th Century Fox didn’t have any faith whatsoever in this film. The only reason it got made was there was an internet leak of some footage put together as a test. It got such a huge response that Fox had to do something, so they green-lit the movie. However, the still believed it would fail. So they only gave it a budget of, about 58 million or 1/3 of the normal budget of an X-men movie. The bit about Deadpool always forgetting his guns was done to save money. The first fight scene, where they are having a gunfight while going down the highway used almost the entire budget for the movie. Btw, the movie went on to make $800 million world wide.

Yeah, in addition to being highly schizophrenic, obsessive, and a few other flavors of insane, he's also about the only character who is aware he's in a comic book (or movie), so when he talks to us, others just assume he's raving. As to his face not looking SO bad, the movie look is quite a bit tamer than the comics. It seems his healing ability also enhances his cancerous cells, so his body is constantly working to expel them through his skin.

Deadpool looks the way he does because his healing factor didn’t truly cure his cancer rather it’s constantly fighting against it to keep him alive. The disfigurement essentially is the cancer which grew & scarred his skin upon awakening his healing factor yet as it was present when his ability activated it sees that as his normal state so it won’t 100% cure it.

5:01 X-Men were the face of Marvel by the 1990s alongside Spider-Man. From comic book sells, arcade games, and of course the amazing X-Men Animated Series. We then got the first X-Men (2000) a good amount of sequels and spin off films. If you brought up Marvel to someone pre MCU they'd most likely bring up Spider-Man or The X-Men. It wasn't until iron Man (2008) and later The Avengers (2012) that The Avengers along with Iron Man and Captain America became the face of modern Marvel. The MCU introduced alot of people to Marvel so it makes sense that the modern mainstream audience would think of the MCU when Marvel is brought up. To them the MCU is Marvel a universe that did not have the rights to X-Men or Fantastic Four two of the most important Marvel teams. So this audience never associated X-Men with Marvel along with the fact that Fox owned the rights and made the films, pretty sure the first X-Men film didn't have the Marvel panel opening as well so you could've easily watched the film with zero idea that it was Marvel. As of 2019 Disney bought Fox so those X-Men and F4 rights have reverted back to Marvel who can now start working on X-Men and F4 projects. Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) releasing next mouth will be created by Marvel Studios making it the first X-Men MCU project. Marvel are also working on a Fantastic Four film as well and just a few mouths back released X-Men 97 an amazing animated series that continues the X-Men: Animated Series from the 1990s basically a next day follow up to the shows final season with updated visuals, more mature storytelling and visuals, yet still maintaining that 90s Animated feel and tone. It's by far Marvel's best project since Infinity War (2018) and the best depiction of the X-Men outside of the comics. So yeah X-Men are very much Marvel, an X-Men comic is not only Marvel's highest selling comic book but it's the highest selling comic book of all time.

Forgot to mention but Marvel from the beginning tried to connect the X-Men films with the MCU. From Nick Fury in Iron Man (2008) mentioning Mutants in a deleted scene to planned cameos of X-Men characters showing up in Captain America: The First Avenger. But legally it seemed like Fox and Marvel never made a deal unlike Sony who owns the rights to Spider-Man and allowed Marvel to introduce him into the MCU and even feature Spider-Man MCU films.

Deadpool 1 and 2 were done by 20th Century Fox when they owned the movie rights to the X-Men Franchise. So technically not MCU. But Deadpool and Wolverine coming out soon...that will be MCU. So good to catch up. 👍 A lot of anti-heroes have been depicted with white eyes. Batman, Deadpool and Wolverine. 😊 Deadpool is actually a parody of DC comics villain Deathstroke: The Terminator. A mercenary soldier for hire known as Slade Wilson. Who used swords as well as guns and has a bit of a mouth. One minor difference is that Slade lost an eye. So his face mask reflects that. Deadpool was created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicienza. The Jared reference with regards to Agent Smith was making fun of his looks which are similar to former Subway sandwich spokesman Jared. That's why he said "I'll take the foot long!" Blade is a Marvel movie franchise about a Day Walker vampire hunter named Blade who wears a black leather outfit and trenchcoat. Goths who are into vampires also wear all black outfits. In the Deadpool comics there is a character known as Hydra Bob. Who is known associate of Wade's. Fox did not have the rights to use Hydra which is a villainous organization usually tied to fighting Captain America...so they just call him Bob here. Deadpool is rated R like Blade was. Most of the Marvel movies are PG-13. So that they are more family friendly. The X-Men movies to date are all 20th Century Fox. They all deal with mutants. Mutants are humans born with a genetic mutation "The X Gene" or mutations that typically are dormant until puberty or in some cases manifest due to extreme stress. They tend to be more serious than Deadpool but have some humorous moments. Best to start with the first X-Men film by Bryan Singer and move forward from there. 😅 As far as R rated superhero movies. Blade is rated R for violence mostly. Watchmen which was a DC property has both nudity and violence. Logan which is one of the last X-Men Wolverine movies is rated R for violence and language. Deadpool 2 is rated R for graphic violence and language. I would watch the earlier X-Men films so you understand the context though. 😅

This is not like X-men or any other MCU film. Though the movie Logan is with the violence. There is a Deadpool 2 and a third coming out soon. Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool before. You asked about the aircraft carrier that they fight on. That you will see in future MCU movies. You got quite a few of the jokes, but your lack of knowledge of other marvel movies and characters means there was quite a bit that went over your head. Ideally before you watch this movie, you should’ve watched all of the MCU. And all of the X-Men movies. That would’ve given you about 85% to 90% of the jokes. There’s about another 10% to 15% of jokes in there that only comic book readers are going to pick up on. Yes Deadpool is an extremely funny character from the cartoons to the comic books to the movies. He’s one of those characters that just has you laughing.

I was born and raised in the Vancouver area of Canada and moved 3 years ago to Vancouver Island and I remember watching the filming of this movie and the sequel. The bridge where the early fight takes places is the one I used to take to go to work from the West End in the northern part of the city to the "west side" or Kitsilano. One of the buildings they shot a lot of scenes in with the cool lighting is called the Shangra La Hotel. Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool, is actually from Vancouver. Yes, we do have a lot of Indian taxi drivers and they are that much fun. The whole movie is like a guided tour of my hometown with a lot of swordplay, blood, guts and jokes.

Ah, yeah... not exactly part of the MCU. The relationship between studios and Marvel properties has been rather complicated for a while. When Marvel faced bankruptcy issues in the 80's and 90's they wound up selling licenses to anyone under the sun in the hopes of staying afloat. A lot of stand-alone films have been done featuring the characters with many being their own isolated endeavors. It was Disney and John Favreau who decided to launch a much more congealed film campaign that would encompass several films to culminate in the Avengers thus birthing the MCU. Beyond that, it's a very complicated age-old tale of executives trying to stick it to the competition and being petty with their licenses while typically diminishing the brands by releasing sub-par films just to keep the rights to characters. Ultimately Disney has won out and consumed all other studios with rights to Marvel properties technically bringing them all under one banner again. Something that tickles me pink to know that Deadpool is an R-Rated film on Disney+.

This was a Sony/Xmen contracted MCU movie Sony/Xmen has now been bought out by Disney . Sony promised Ryan Renolds a Deadpool movie and he did test footage of the opening fight seen, Sony said nobody would watch this R-rated and to graphicly violent ( Some how the footage was leaked ( only 4 people supposedly had access to including Ryan ) to a comic con and the fans went nuts demanding the film get made ). Sony went really cheap for a MCU film on this movies budget , Ryan paid a lot out of pocket getting this made ( such as only 2 Xmen , no money for ending gun battle , hence the forgotten duffle bag ).

I can't believe you didn't know who Ryan Reynolds is. This movie is in the X-Menverse but it's more along the lines of a satire of X-Men as oppose to being part of the main story. I think you need to watch "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" before watching Deadpool 2. (maybe even "Green Lantern")

"I've only reacted to a couple MCU movies on the channel...they didn't do very well" Probably because of your editing. You censor too much and make the movies seem like it was made by a Christian ministry

A key feature to Deadpool's powers is he is self aware of being a super hero in our world. Thats is where there are so many references to pop culture elements. Also part of his ability to 4th wall break that he did all the times in the comcis.

30:05 In the Marvel Database, Deadpool's white eyes in his costume are said to only appear in his imagination in Deadpool Kill the Marvel Universe Vol 1 3. In the comics, Deadpool's mask can deform to match his facial expressions, so his eyes can widen when he's shocked or frown when he's angry. However, in the real world, it's more difficult to achieve this effect, as the mask worn by Ryan Reynolds in the movie is stiff and hard-shelled

Deadpool's ability to heal and regenerate makes him functionally immortal. I remember hearing about some characters in the comics who go to the future in an alternate timeline where Earth was destroyed, and the only things left floating in space were pieces of rubble and Deadpool 😂

This is a great example of a movie that we, the viewers, want you to watch. But only after seeing other movies ie. Ferris Buehler's Day Off. Before you watch Deadpool 2, I personally think you should watch a couple X-Men movies. Especially before you see Deadpool 3 that comes out next month.

I'm pretty sure they toned down his disfigurement for the movie so people would still watch it. In the comics, he's supposed to look so horrifying that people can hardly look at him.

The "Agent Smith" line when he is referring to Jared is a reference to the Matrix movies. He was making fun of Jared's appearance

Also, the character's name is never given (in the script he is "the recruiter"). Calling him Jared is a reference to the former pitchman for the Subway sandwich chain, which ties into the pedophile jokes.

- Deadpool is part of Marvel, but not really the MCU and due to the R-rating that is basically REQUIRED for his character. The MCU/M-She-U is PG. - X-Men is part of Marvel, but the "good movies" were made when the rights still belonged to 20th Century Fox ... - Disney RUINED Marvel (just like Star Wars and everything else they own) over the last 10+ years and they desperately need to revitalise the M-She-U ... which wont happen, because they are ACTIVISTS who dont care about good stories but rather about "the communist message".

33:35 - no, Deadpool is quite unique. X-Men movies are more like Marvel movies. Good looking heroes, lots of cgi, very little "blood and gore" or sex, basically PG-13. Deadpool is rated R.

I hate that your MCU views were low... at this point, there are so many cultural references and movie crossovers (Deadpool 3, July 2024), you almost have to watch the movies and Disney+ limited series. When are you going to watch 200 hours of MCU and X-Men movies? I'm still enjoying the reactions, though.

MCU / X-Men / Spiderman... it's a confusing watch order. Especially hen you add other references. I have an idea to make a big critical path diagram of how to watch so you catch everything.

Disney owns the Marvel universe characters (until recently Sony owned the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spiderman characters, but now Disney/Marvel has those too). Disney was unwilling to take any of the Marvel films beyond a PG-13 rating. Sony (who held the rights to Deadpool) was willing to make this (and its sequel) as an R rated film-which is the only way it can work properly. Disney/Marvel also aquired the rights to do Deadpool 3 (Deadpool & Wolverine) which is coming out this July and they are keeping it R rated. Deadpool 2 is also definitely worth a watch. Other superhero movies worth watching include the Marvel universe at least up to Avengers Endgame; Sony's X-Men films should be seen; and the 3 Christopher Nolan Batman movies (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises) are also definitely worth seeing.

@@AwesomeUSMovies Suggestion: start out with the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie... It's a classic, and very moody, both visually and music-wise (scored by Danny Elfman, of course! :)) It will help show how much superhero movies have evolved in the past 35-ish years. You should probably skip the two 1990s-era Joel Schumacher Batmen though, or maybe save them for later - these were marred by movie executive interference and other issues, and are mainly good for laughs - particularly the second one, "Batman & Robin." Schumacher isn't a bad director though; you may want to watch his masterpiece "Falling Down" if you haven't already done so, which leading actor Michael Douglas considers his finest work, allegedly. It's a movie which probably is even more poignant today than when it was released in 1993.

Fox owned the rights to the X-men properties and Disney acquired Fox. Sony still holds the rights to the Spiderman universe but they and Disney have been working together to have Tom Holland's Spiderman be within the current MCU.

"Is this an MCU Movie?" Well, yes, and no... It all has to do with character rights... Quite some time ago, Marvel sold the rights to several characters to various studios (Sony owns Spider-Man, and related characters, 20th Century Fox owned The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and related characters, I believe Universal owns The Hulk, and related characters, and Paramount owned at least the distribution rights for Iron Man, and related characters). Marvel studios eventually re-acquired the rights to all the other characters (Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, and so on), and was absorbed by Disney... Disney recently consumed 20th Century Fox, so now the X-Men, and Fantastic Four get to play in the same sandbox with everyone else... Sony continues to retain a stranglehold on Spider-Man, but will let him play with the others while they try and figure out how to make a decent film with the characters they have access to (holding one's breath is not advised...) Yes, there is a 'Deadpool 2', and yes, it's worth seeing... Seeing some of the other 'X-Men' movies is helpful for reference, but not required... 'Deadpool and Wolverine' (aka Deadpool 3') is due to be released to theaters soon, and will 'officially' bring Deadpool into the MCU... Simple, right?😛
