Regicide is incredible, it's everything you could ask for in a action track, reminds me a lot of Horner, I wish he were still around, that piece also has that jagged Goldsmith writing.

I love 6:56 It feels like you are surrounded by the horde on a space station falling apart. I like to think the snare drums represent the fireteam's competency and training (they are elite after all), but at some points you can barely hear it. They are nearly overwhelmed by the chaotic percussion and brass. It has a desperate feel to it and I love it

Finally taking the time to listen to this. You weren't kidding when you said to listen for the synth wall. And you didn't spare the stereo. I can see some people getting dizzy with those wild pannings. The metal hitting effect (was it a pipe, a can?) used for percussion actually made me turn my head to see if there was something weird happening outside. More than music, this is sound design in general at its finest. Congrats for another job exceptionally well done!

Thank you so much for posting this!! I am in LOVE with your music, and how you managed to combine the feelings and tone from the movie and the ambience overall. Because of you I am in love with the game. You knew what to go for, what to give. I have been looking for your soundtrack throughout the game for a long time, and when I saw this my eyes just widened! You made the game part of the Alien franchise, and gave it that added depth. And boy does the music work with the tension, especially when you're playing on harder difficulties! Anyways, thank you!

I feel like it's rare to get this kind of insight from the composer themselves on each individual track. I've always been one of those 'I wanna know how the hot dog is made' kind of guys, so thanks a lot for sharing this. It's a fucking marvellous score. It still somehow sounds like the movies but also like Austin Wintory.

when the movie Titanic came out, i was merely a teenager, but the OST of it was among my favourite CDs(among those tracks, "the sinking" was really good). years later, this Aliens Fireteam Elite OST brings me the similar feeling of magnificence and immensity. the game itself is good enough to be among my favourite games as it combines the ALIENS franchise and 3rd person shooter together(they are both my top interests). thank you for your outstanding music for this excellent game, Austin.

I'm pretty sure Left Up Well is a joke name, possibly derived from Right Down Sick, or a reference to the xenos gluing victims to the wall for the facehuggers.
@UNSCPILOTАй бұрын
@@GenericInternetter I might be too much of a scifi nerd but, I took it as a refrence to "Gravity Well" with being "Left Upwell" meaning you were stuck in space, maybe a station or ship with no way down. That's my interpretation anyway, cool to see how others precive it, always cool to hear digetic music that helps flesh out the world building

You really captured that classic feel of the older movies here, and It's nice to get a peek at the thought process behind the music. Every year I'm making my personal playlist "best of OSTs" (movies, TV series, games) on Spotify, limiting myself to 25 tracks and only one track per score. This obviously have to figure in my still "work in progress" 2022 edition. And gosh, what a tough choice! Only one track for this insanely fantastic soundtrack! How do I do that? Damn! Every track is worth its salt! Have to figure it out but it might take a few more listening sessions. Congrats on this one Mr Wintory, it goes right up there with Goldsmith, Horner and Goldenthal, while exploring the license your own way. Kudos!

@@awintory Well, first is that electronic sound going crescendo from 34:20 to 34:30 (similar to one heard during "Overture") ... then this pulsation (34:30 to 34:53) which reminds me of "Giant footprints in the sand". I very vividly remember there was like an electric guitar/electric bass that played this part, namely during 4-1 Breach's synth room part, 5-2 Approach's final battle, and Horde Mode Terminal Containment. The electric version of this part is by far my favorite part of the soundtrack, but I can't seem to locate it in this video.

This is... interesting. There's some stuff in this score I really love. And then there's this... weirdly "jazzy" and "film noir-like" stuff that I can't seem to quite get along with. It's like a weird tonal high-wire act. Sometimes the score gets to this "playful" state with the notation and harmonies and that feels strange. 😁 I've had this same issue with some Michael Kamen scores as well. I do admire bringing something quite new to the table, it's just not quite for me. My taste of horror/sci-fi scoring is way too stuck on more traditional Lydian and Dies irae patterns I guess...
