Steve Gadd i a drummer that always adds that sweet soul to the music he is on. with such a fantastic pocket and musical knowledge to boot its no wonder why he is one of the greatest drummers to ever live

Steve Gadd is one of the few drummers who are able to vividly demonstrate that drums are actually musical instruments.

Steve is a composer and a great creator of drum beats. He gets inside the music and draws out talent from a wellspring. He has marked a true epoch in drumming. Gaddyo

Drumming has been proven to release endorphins (aka, feel good brain chemicals) and induce Alpha waves in the brain. This simply means you can feel a greater sense of well-being and happiness after a drum session. 3:03 [Healing Sounds Music Therapy]

There's nothing wrong with loud and fast. There's a place and time for everything, ya don't have to beat on your wife, to prove to your girlfriend, that you love her, lettem both shine, just maybe not together. Remember, Buddy Rich was loud and fast !

Sometimes simplicity is good but Gadd sounds like a dude who has no creative edge. You can tell he dismissed working with Herbie Hancock. He knew Chick Corea was hot....no thought. Gadd taught us licks. Never taught us how to grow as a musician.

The essence of Gadd. Such a class act. Drummers will be learning from this 100 years from now.
@michaelhayes6904 жыл бұрын
Gadd's time is so good, and his articulation on all the grace notes. His subtlety is what kills it, and the dynamics and stops. He sets everything up to tell the story. Nice.

Steve takes the same exact nine or 10 licks and patterns, plays them like he means it with 100% heart and soul, and never gets tired or worn out-even after 40 years of that same stuff. He just keeps on truckin’-thank G-d for GADD

The drums have always been part of jazz, because the beat and sound of the drums is so integral to the cultural history of where jazz music originated and evolved from. The drum kit has always held a prominent role in the rhythm section of jazz bands, providing rhythmic drive as well as tonal colors. Extended periods of drumming release endorphins and enkephalins, neurotransmitters that act as natural painkillers and mood enhancers. 4:53 [Dawkes; Jazz Blog Org; Mic com]
