When swinging an axe or wielding a chainsaw; the #1 thing is your footing. If you have a secure foothold, you can safely deliver power. Without a secure, firm, foothold you'll be dividing half of your concentration to maintaining your balance. This doesn't apply to those axemen who are part time ballet dancers...or prize fighters: they know all about balance. Gota love the Red Warrior. I think the name originated with Welland-Vale, prior to being purchased by True Temper. I could be wrong.

Arvika’ 4 lb-is Too heavy of an Axe to swing at near chest height and awkward terrain! That’s where a 2 1/2lb axe shines in awkward steep mountainside situations . Good vid. Nice tools.
