I just want to thank you, because it is midnight and I was stuck trying to reamp some guitars for a record I'm mixing, and your tutorial saved my night. Would like to show it when it is finished. Greetings from Mexico!

Awesome tutorial! I never really understood what re-amping was. I've seen people in the Fractal forum talking about it, but didn't quite follow along. Thanks to this amazing lesson, I'm in the know. Thank you!

Hello Bernd. Great tutorial. Is it possible to listen to reamped guitar track and e.g. the drum track simultaneously without processing the drum track by Axe FX2? Thanks

Hey i ve got the same issue. The processed track level is fine but the dry track is too low even if i know it should be lower than the processed one. When i say its low, its thats i cant even see the waveforms on the track in order to edit them ( yes i would like to use the dry signal to help me editing as well)

Hi! I have just the same problem as Matthew M with Logic Pro. I found this statement from Axe Fx Wiki: "The dry signal level is fixed, and for good reason. When you send that signal back in, it is the same as the original signal sent to the grid. This means you don't have to adjust anything when reamping. You simply send the signal back.” However, you seem to get much higher input. I would be very grateful for any tips! Thank you for these great tutorials! :)

Im also a long time Cubase user that would love to figure out the advantages of using the fx sends over usb especially while im already using another interface. However I was curious, when you recorded your second track and it was out of sync, wasn't that because of the latency of the usb? so depending on how fast anyones system is there may be more or less latency and they will have to compinsate by manually moving the track right? Great Tutorial!

That is nice to hear. Also I like to add that your video editing and sound is good, nice and clean to watch. You also know how to use your guitars :-) I'm still wating for my Axe-fx II to be delivered but I still have my standard so I can test some of you tutorials, so once again thanks.

I am planning on buying an Axe FX II soon. In theory, would this work? Guitar to AXEFX guitar in. AXEFX out1 to 6i6 in3 which goes to main outs JUST to monitor processed tone for tracking. AXEFX usb to computer to DAW for only recording DI. Re-Amping: Set DAW DI track to send to spdif-out on 6i6... 6i6 spidif-out to AXEFX spdif-in... Apply tone. AXEFX spdif-out to 6i6 spdif-in. Set DAW to record 6i6 spdif-in which should be the processed AXEFX tone.

Hi. Great video. Where do you set the input volume when using a DAW. Sometimes it's rather low and I can't see how to raise the dry signal at all.

Hey, I noticed your ASIO buffer size is set to 512 samples. When I set the ASIO buffer size to 512 samples (on my PC running Windows7), it says "At 48000 Hz sampling rate, the selected ASIO buffer size is too small for current USB streaming mode. To avoid audio distortions, you should select a larger ASIO buffer size". Did you get the same warning?

@berndkiltz Thanks for your reply. I am trying reamping now and I'm using Logic 9. I am able to set the level now so I can record comfy to a song with distortion but my clean direct (channel 3) is really low. That's what I want to turn up. I believe my guitar in level is set correctly. Not hitting red but a lot of orange? :)

Hi thanks for the tutorial, I have my AXE FX connected via AES digital and USB. Are you doing all this just using the usb connection? My system doesnt seem to recognise the usb connection, how do you set up the axe with usb so that you can choose that for reamp?

Bernd - thanks for the informative video. I've been trying this simple method for a few days now without much success. I am able to record the track but as soon as I switch main input source from USB -> analog1 and listen to what I've recorded, all I hear is the "dry" signal again. I've confirmed that my recording track is configured for inputs 1+2 (also tried 1 and 2 individually). What am I doing wrong? I've tried this in GarageBand as well as Ableton Live with the same results. Please help!

Hello I have a question. I've had my axe 2 for a while now but I still can't figure out how to adjust the monitoring level mix when recording (sequencer vs guitar) in the axe without compromising the input recording signal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey im having some issues with the DI track. The set up works great and i can reamp my DI tracks but the wavelengths of the DI are so tiny.. its as if the input gain is way too low. Ive tried turning up the input gain 100 but theyre still extremely small. My pickups are not very hot so that could be it but is there a way around it?

Matthew M. I've recently discovered reaper and hardly know how to use it since I use studio one. But. Right click and see if you can find something that says, "Increase audio" or "Normalize Audio". That usually makes it louder without having to crank everything on the outside. The only way to avoid it is to make sure your signal is up through the DAW is to turn everything up, (not all the way) until you're clipping, then back off to where it's not clipping but not half way. Just under clipping level usually works out and then when you mix you just change things accordingly on the volume adjust mix. In the DAW, do not crank your input gain or channel gain etc. Keep it at 0db.
