Agreed! It’s crazy how much opinions can differ. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure I suppose. Some of the amps may take a different approach on Cygnus but the end result is so worth it. Truly inspiring sounds to be had! Thanks for the kind words!

I'm still not familiar with everything on my firmware, so I did not upgrade yet. I wonder if you lose any amps or settings or features with this from the previous firmware. Either way, Axe-FX III is an embarrassment of riches. Saludos

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! That said, you’ll likely have to adjust your presets because of the changes but I think it’s well worth it. Highly recommend upgrading, just don’t do it before a gig!

@@ColinGaileyGuitar Earned yourself a sub right there mate, great tones! Did you get around to uploading the preset to AxChange? :) I've been having the Cameron CCV as my go to for a good long while, but you really seemed to have dialed in the Friedman spot on!

Not a bad patch but simply not “tubey’ as is the problem with every modeler and I own several with Axe3mkii as the newest I love it for what it is and what it can do but amp modeling has a bit to go I can get these uneffected tones from any of my solid state amps, Galien Krueger 250rl, Roland cube, Sunn alphas and betas But I can’t get my Marshalls, boogies, fenders or vox out of the sim boxes I still have vintage “real tube” stomp pres for the 12ax7 front end which do add some life but the power amp valves make up a large part of the amps sound as do the speakers and I just can’t emulate them with these flat sounding units, I wish I could Thanks for the patch though it is a fun usable setup!

Thanks for taking the time to share your perspective! When you say it’s not “Tubey”, what do you think is missing? For you is it more a feel thing or tone thing or both? I’ve owned a lot of tube amps over the years, Fender, Marshall, Boogie, the list goes on…I’ve come to accept you cannot produce the “amp in the room” sound exactly as a real amp. That said, I’ve been thrilled with the tone and feel from the Axe Fx III, more so than any other modeler I’ve played. I’ve been able to emulate the tones of my previous rigs so closely that I’m not even sure I could tell the difference. Especially in a mix. For me the IR makes one of the biggest differences. And of course how you’re monitoring the sound makes a HUGE difference in tone and feel. At this point, I’m not missing my tube amps anymore. That said, it has taken a tremendous amount of time dialing in tones, getting levels right, testing IR’s, trying different speakers…Crazy how much us guitarists chase tone! Suffice to say, tone is a very personal journey. Would love to hear some examples of some of the real “tubey” tones you’ve been after. Drop a link if you get a chance!

No answer😂😂 With all due respect the only people who claim this cannot use a modeler and sniff corks. It simply isn't true. I own several real heads and compared to the Axe 3 it's 99% there if you use your ears. He has no answer because he is full of crap😂😂

@@jayjaymerritt2785 You can hardly say, “with all due respect” And then tell someone they’re full of crap It’s an obvious contradiction And how exactly am I full of crap? By having an opinion? I hope you don’t teach Brandon this manor of ignorance and poor logic As far as answering the videos posters response It’s something that I’ve answered so many times quite frankly, I’m fatigued He himself acknowledges you can’t get the in the room tube amp sound And since that was my point, responding seemed unnecessary But for you to imply 99% there?! Then I have to assume you’re the one who is full of crap or you have lack of experience playing with the real deal where you are playing Mono and your rig is quite dry, the bass knob is rolled off as is the drive for proper front of house mixing You gotta give your engineer something to work with Modelers in general are designed for one thing To make money with promises of having it all, a silly and impossible task You hear a fully stereo, overprocessed tone because it sounds like the album After Post and mastering So the common response is “oh my god that’s amazing “ The sound most tone heads are looking for is the sound in the live room before it even hits the mic After that, it’s all production Analog tube head say a Marshall plexi-SM57 or equivalent and a room placement mic, probably a DI for RE-amping That hits the pre and interface that these days likely digital (I use all Apollo X) The DAW of choice is digital During post although some of us still use analogue outboard there are very many that are using plugs Every mastering house I ever worked at use ProTools, so all digital I prefer mixing without the beyerdynamic DT 770 cans, so for me it’s Genelec 8331’ in the control room Once it gets to your digital media player of choice The guitar sound you hear is so over processed and digitized. It sounds nothing like the Marshall plexi in the live room where it was tracked But that Marshall is what that performer is probably is going to bring on the road So I submit everything you hear through your AxeFx is meant to sound polished and mixed. and your media player is zeros and ones But if I take you to a live show I defy you to show me the zeros and ones coming out of (for example Andy Timmons) Mesa lone star stage rig It sounds live, it has a heartbeat and soul It’s not a squashed overprocessed mess that I hear too often at local clubs and bars Where the signal can barely cut through the mix I could go on and on, but frankly, I feel like I would be wasting my time So back to the bedroom for you or Basement, or wherever you pretend to be Eddie Van Halen Because that’s where these modelers sound the best
