Axe Project Pt. 1 - Over Strike Guard Start

This is a unexpected project that fell into my lap that I did not plan on doing.....but here I am doing it anyway.....🤪

Hey Ray, the axe is looking good. I've seen a bunch of guys use linseed oil and it always looks good, I got to pick up a can. Ugh 80% humidity is crappy. Keep cool over there!

It's looking better all the time David, I've got the head painted now 👍 Progress is on going in spite of the weather 😉 There's a huge storm about to go over as I type 😲 I used to use Linseed Oil on wooden ladders before they came out with fiberglass ladders to protect them, it worked great 👍 Yeah 80% humidity is tough to deal with, especially when it's 80+ temps 😲 which happens around here during the summer a lot!

Hey there Terry, having 'puter issues down here 😆 This comment almost snuck by me 😲 Thanks for the kind comment about this 'Lil Gem' as you call it, but it isn't anywhere near finished yet 🤪 ROFL With the 'puter being mostly down I'm posting small photo snippets on my 'Community Tab' on my home page about the progress I'm making, plus I'm still recording video whenever the rain stops long enough 🤪 I'll post the full video later 👍 Lakes down here are anywhere from 8~15' over Flood stage with no end to the rain in sight 😲 Take Care up there My Friend 🙂

😲 Aaaaa.... no thanks! I would rather be a Raccoon 👍 They have the use of their thumbs & can climb trees 👍 They have been known to kill dogs 👍 They run in packs 👍 Show me a Fox that can do that and I might consider it 😉 And yes I know about both the 'Swamp Foxes' that you were referring to, but the most famous one you were thinking of was probably Francis Marion 👍 Mel Gibson did him justice in the movie 😉

Howdy Ray! Hope the edge guard was still on while it dropped in your lap. Not doing any damage to priced belongings! Drain the swamp! Nice new shirt, btw. Looks like some english gear? Getting ready to go on safari with your pride of pocket lions? I think we saw that hole punch when you made additional tie points in the tarp or tent? What kind of wood is the handle made off? I know my father prefers hickory for that. I don't know what the right kind of wood is ... the "correct" axes are forged. By Hand. And they are too expensive to use them ;-) They are even out of stock, German Brands would be Bison and Ochsenkopf. I am lusting for some, but can not justify buying any-no real use for them ;-) No Farm. Stay away from the window with your hatchet-there are lightnings supposed to strike. On the other hand, if the storm front comes by, a good axe can be useful to clear out the debris. Hope you have only swamp and no water spouts (?). Stay safe!
