Axe Restoration [Satin Axe Head With Walnut Handle]

Remove rust with cola? That's supposed to work? In this restoration of this extremely rusty old axe I will try... But of course I will also restore the complete axe, that means I will harden, quench in oil and water, file, grind, polish, cut with the band saw and saws and more. It will definitely be hot because it burns, but also very cold when you quench it.
▶ What did I do ?! ◀
I remove the coarse rust with a wire brush, then soak the extremely rusty axe head in cola and try to remove the remaining rust. I work on the contour with a belt grinder, an angle grinder and files. The axe head is then heated to 800°C/1472°F and quenched in 80°C/176°F oil. I then sanded the surface with sandpaper up to a grain size of 800. I made a new handle from walnut wood as the old one was no longer available. Now just rub the handle with linseed oil and hammer in the old wedges, and the new old axe is finished.

I used the following tools: Wire brush, cordless screwdriver, drill, Bunsen burner, pin punch, hammer, brush, file, angle grinder, cut-off wheel, belt sander, hardening oven, oil, immersion heater, forging pliers, thermometer, oven, water, spatula, orbital sander, sanding fleece, polishing block, polishing paste, adhesive tape, pencil, knife, tweezers, band saw, calipers, sandpaper, saw, whetstone, linseed oil varnish

Exceso de medios para un rescate fácil. Quedó bien para lucimiento y exposición pero no para trabajo. Para trabajar con el hacha y tener un buen control de la herramienta durante el corte necesitaba un mango un poco más largo para su peso y un mango recto y más plano para indexar mejor. Con un mango redondo es fácil perder la orientación en el corte o el labrado. Tampoco entiendo para que se templa otra vez si solo se le ha sacado el óxido mediante un lijado. Parafinalizar, no hemos visto que grado de afilado se le hizo y si corta. No quería ver la típica tontería de cortsr una hoja de papel si no como cortaba madera. Pero bueno, como vídeo de entretenimiento está muy bien grabado. La utilidad es más discutible.

Глубокие каверны от ржавчины удаляются следующим образом: 1) Производим нагрев и отпуск металла. 2) Завариваем каверны электродной сваркой 3) Снова закаляем металл. И всё)) разницу между сваркой и основным металлом невозможно разглядеть. P.S. Мистер Черепаха нормальный парень 😁

Как будто это топор достался от деда 🤔 У меня кстати имеется топор, что сделал на заводе мой дедушка ещё в старые добрые 90е. Он чисто из металла. Хорошего металла. 20 лет пролежал в сыром погребе. И за это время лишь немного поржавел. Сталь топора весьма качественная была 😊 Благодарю за работу, Мастер! 👏👏👏🙏

Hast du dich jetzt auf rostiges Altmetall spezialisiert ? Ich frage für meinen Schrotthändler. Es soll auch Leute geben, die Cola trinken ! Rostprobleme im Darm ? Ich habe immer gute Ergebnisse mit einem Anti-Rost-Tauchbad erzielt. Ist natürlich teurer, aber länger verwendbar. Ansonsten super Ergebnis, so was MUSS alt aussehen !

This type of handle is not so practical...it is more practical when handle of axe is round in shape and handle hole of axe also should be round in shape ...round shaped axe handle is also very easy to make ...there is no need of lock wood and glue to stick lock wood in round shaped handle...in round shaped handle we can also take out axe very easily whenever we need but we can't take out axe in flat shaped handle once it is locked...it is far more strong round shaped handle than flat shaped handle...I think western people don't know about round shaped handle...round shape handles are used from ancient times in Nepal and whole Asia which is more practical and scientific...
