How to reset the bevel on a scandi or flat grind axe by hand. It takes a bit of time, but it's not hard, and the result is awesome. Try it!

Dude! Been watching your vids for a while now - just love how OCD you are on axes. One had you chopping to at least six different versions of Big Iron. I knew it from Kingfish but was really glad to go through the whole montage. Between you and Skillcut and Ben Scott and some practice on my own - I may just be learning a thing or two about using and maintaining axes. Thank you!

Great video thanks. Just ordered my first flat grind axe, Council Tool Woodcraft Camp Carver, and now I know how to keep it sharp and true thanks to your video.

I may be messed up, or wrong but I prefer to use a belt sander with no backing and mild tension to give it that slight curved Scandinavian bevel. Then I go and barley sharpen the edge and it holds that edge for a while believe it or not . Every few weeks/months I may hit it with stone or a file. I re-grind anywhere from every 8 to 24 months. Depending on how I'm using it. That's how I've been doing it for 15 years though always open new suggestions.

Awesome. So was that 30 minutes per side. ? Second question - To maintain, is it Ok to just strop with the compound after every use ?

Yes stropping is great. Go crazy! It does take a lot more time than people generally expect to use hand stones to actually reprofile something, BUT when it's done, it's pretty easy to maintain that way, stropping or otherwise.

You probably did not mean it.......... but you are painful to follow. Just droning on and on and on and not getting to the point. Pity, useful topic.
