Hello Richard......hope all is well. Use delta everyday trading ES and NQ, however, on the RTY, we usually have a mixed bag as the RTY continues higher and the cum delta trades lower.....this can occur somedays for most of the cash session. I get that bidders (passive buyers) are at work and able to push prices higher so delta trades lower........can you comment on what you'd be looking for as far as set ups/trade opportunities are concerned in the RTY w/ the disconnect between price and delta......Thank you Omar

Have you seen the cumulative delta on the AMC runs?
@nickboretz17742 жыл бұрын
Here's the problem I have with cumulative delta. It doesn't show what is really happening moment to moment like time and sales.. Plus if you have a 5 minute chart you have to wait 5 minutes for cumulative delta to show a bar. Meanwhile I am already in a trade and can see if things are changing at the end of 5 minutes. So what you are getting is a delayed signal. On the other hand CD shows divergence which is a huge plus..but you can get that with any oscillator like the Stochastics or MFI.

Used to get royally burned on delta div run ups. Didnt understand what was happening when CL or ES would rise in price while CumDelta dropped super negative. I would expect the market to flip against buyers and only kept going up which eventually peaked when Delta flipped positive and value normalized once enough of the Sell side leveled off. So beware those situations, they can really burn a new trader. When price races one direction and cumdelta is divergent it just means there is a lot to sell to buyers for cheap (strong negative yet up in price) or a lot to sell to seller for cheap (strong positive yet down in price).
@AxiaFutures3 жыл бұрын
Great observation Jonathan. Thanks for the comment!
@adamstradinghub2 жыл бұрын
Surely that’s where it helps having a narrative to play. For example, market always runs to liquidity, so if you’re just trading this indicator alone you’ll get burned. By waiting for the liquidity and SMR to happen aligned with CUMDELTA, It’s then going to work
@jfilbert Жыл бұрын
I too have been burned by that situation because I use CDV, among other things, as a directional filter. On the positive side, I've seen negative divergence on a higher-grinding London session leading into the NY open, where the bottom falls out. Doesn't happen often but I've added that to my playbook.

Hello. Thanks for the question. 7-8AM London Time
@mariangulasa22573 жыл бұрын
Would you suggest using cumulative delta on 4h/daily timeframe? or does it work best only on lower timeframes such as 1m?
@AxiaFutures3 жыл бұрын
Hello Marian. Both timeframes can provide value, but CD on smaller timeframe gives you more of a tactical advantage with the actual and immediate flows. Hope this answer helps.
@tripptraders2 жыл бұрын
You're a really good teacher, very clear, very understandable. One question. You were talking about the initial balance being BEFORE the cash open on the DAX... I trade the American indicies, which, ET opens at 9:30AM. My understanding has always been, at least on this side of the pond, is that the initial balance is from when the cash market opens to one hour afterward (in this case 9:30AM to 10:30AM ET). Am I wrong or is the EU market considered differently. Thanks ever so much!

How to use CD in crypto market? Is it possible?
@AxiaFutures3 жыл бұрын
Since crypto is decentralised, the information you would be getting would be only limited to the information of one exchange. So the answer is, it is possible, but it would not have the same implication like in the futures markets.

Thank you, Richard. CVD has helped my trading enormously but I'm trying to fine-tune some aspects of my system. My platform offers three flavors of Delta: "Up/Down Tick Volume", plain "Volume", and "Trades". I have read the documentation but can't quite get my head around the differences. Each seems to have relative strengths when applied to different instruments but I'd love to find a "unified field theory" about _why_ so I can be more confident in choosing the proper one for the particular job. It is sub-optimal for a number of reasons to have them all on my charts at the same time.

Does the delta discern between passive and active buy entry and closing stops say at a v bottom shorts getting stop at delpletion ripped on the buying stepping in..? I'm still new to this so I don't know exactly how to frame the question..
@dutchy57522 жыл бұрын
thanks. I coded it myself and checked it with your charts and I get the same so that is good :) You also mentioned that sometimes you see the price moving up for a longer period of time and at the same time the cumulative delta is moving down (or the other way around). Like you explained the bid is put higher and then is taken out buy a seller hitting the bid and then a next bid comes in at an even higher price which again is sold in to at the bid. I think it is pretty strange. I compare the behavior of ES, NQ, YM and RTY. Intraday the price moves of those 4 are highly correlated. But often you see a difference in the cumulative delta volume. Often RTY is the most out of whack. Do you have an explanation for that?

Hello. Thanks for the question. Yes, cumulative delta works for NQ as well, but NQ is much more thinner in terms of the orderflow so it can be tricky at times.
