It looks like there’s a little bit of work involved in installing this but anything to help keep the motor from getting too hot is definitely helpful. Even though replacement motors are relatively inexpensive.

Theres actually an easier way to remove the motor. Two screws on the skid plate one by the transmission. You also have to remove the battery tray. I learned the hard way 👍 learn from my mistakes !

I was able to install my heatsink by removing the transmission and then removing the motor from the tranny to slide the heatsink on. I had to remove the battery tray but for the most part it was pretty straight forward

If wish this was live! You only need to take off 3 screws to pull the motor. The 2 screws underneath the skid and 1 on top of it.

It's a heatsink meant to transfer heat away from the motor. Made of aluminum since that's highly thermally conductive. Just taking the sticker off helps a lot, I think that's part of the issue with the stock motors. I bought a 60 pack of 8mmx8mmx5mm ones online that use thermal paste. I'm sure these work better since they wrap around more of the can.

Great alternative I’ll have to look into that !

Great video. Is it necessary to remove the skid plate screws? If so, both sides it just 1? And the transmission cover is two screws? And then the motor is one screw after that? Do the white gears stay in the vehicle? Just want to make sure I'm hearing it correctly. Thank you for the video.

You can definitely do it a lot simpler than I did, this was a while ago when I was a noob hahah 😅😂

You can buy 2 heat sinks if you have the larger high torque motors . You just have to trim the front one with a dremel tool on the part that raps around the motor, 1/16 " ... not removing any of the fins just the ring part so it will slide more towards the transmission. Then add the second one behind that one . It has to be trimmed at 45° in the bottom corner that will allow it to miss the frame . They look awesome together like one big heat sink ...and they do help the motor to stay cooler by transferring the heat away from the motor and into the heat sink and the air through the fins cools the heat sink . Just like air cooled motorcycle cylinder heads have fins for cooling . Even if you don't buy a heat sink you should remove the sticker off the motor . The sticker holds heat in the motor . It will run cooler without the sticker . I live in Vegas and it get 115 in the shade here so anything that cools the motor is a good thing . If you don't have a dremel tool, you could just use a file to make them both fit .

heat sinks disperse heat, but also need airflow to remove that heat, I think I'm going to try and cut an air hole in the side of mine...because uhhh, it makes a difference...maybe

You know I’m vary hesitant about getting that heat thingy lol just because idk if they work or not but why not I swapped out my motor and it gets pretty hot so I think ima try it out. How does yours work so far? Worth it?

It definitely absorbs heat I can tell you that. I used it on my stock motor so make sure it is compatible with your replacement!
