It’s not a meme. I currently have 7 Trophies with Leyline Axe (not playing a lot) and really good results in preliminary events. You can easily mull to 5 with this deck, but you don’t have to look for axe. The axe can be punishing but in my opinion worth it. You can kill a turn earlier vs Combo and have more tranple effect for creature mu like Cradle. I think the deck will get a bit more consistent with the new memory guardian

8 cast still my favorite Legacy archetype, and I guess my modern one too now. Im curious now if meta changes have opened up a slot to explore this again. Gotta agree with the horror motif vs horror as a genre.

33:20 I think there was a line here to leave up lotus petal or opal as your last mana to also play Emry as a way to guarantee an artifact for next turn (assuming they don't have daze for her). Seems worthwhile since otherwise fitting in a spot to play her before the game ends seems unlikely.

Concerning the eldrazi matchup.. Imagine telling a legacy player 10 years ago that having a 5/5 creature with diet hexproof on t1 isn't enough..the uproar would be something to witness.

14:04 there's a lot of jumpscare-less horror. Or ones where there ARE one or three but the main scare comes from the tragedy of the events or the raw Dread of the thing. Omori for instance has like 5 or 6 jumpscares over it's long runtime, and all but one are closeups after a long setup scene. In Stars and Time has one. Texas Chainsaw has two? Same with SOMA. Under the Skin has none, Sunless Sea has none (no idea if CSim counts as horror, probably not). There are different kinds of horror. The problem with some games is that the jumpscare is the failstate so while you can see them coming, they do happen. IMO, ISAT and Omori would be the best picks.

Imo jumpscares are an important part of horror, but they have to be used prudently. Eg, the classic chestburster scene from Alien is definitely a jumpscare, but it works because they built it up so well.

It's "playable in vintage" cause double wasting people is always gonna be powerful but if you wanna resolve a 6 drop you might as well resolve coveted jewel, and you can even cast jewel with two workshops, which you can't do with mycospawn con queso

Because you need metalcraft before redundant Opals become Lotus Petals and Lotus Petal gets you to metalcraft for the first Opal. You can plan for how they're functionally identical in the midgame or you can keep more hands because your early game works.

14:10 Jumpscares are to horror as FoW is to legacy. People don't want to get into legacy because forces are everywhere, but people who play regularly can tell you that yeah, theyre annoying and not uncommon. However, the most interesting decks work well without any forces. I certainly wouldnt blame anyone for staying away from the format anyways, even if they knew all the nuances of FoW's importance/permeation/uses.
