axiom looks packed with features but in the end, it's the same as copy pasting your regions from worldedit. you just have to move around less. worldedit also takes the cake for me for how many other features like /deform it has that axiom can't match

One idea for Axiom is a circle function. After you select the second point, you can open a function selection with a hotkey and automatically place the other four corners. With the selection, you can choose if you want an odd or even center and the rotation of the rotation.

In my opinion, Axiom is more user friendly, since you have a lot of overlays, infinte undos, etc and I don't know if you can do noise in worldedit for example.

For the centre panel in the iron farm walls, I think a giant iron golem statue would go well there. Kind of a basic idea, but I think it would work well in the iron farm. It could also have the portal entrance to the iron farm, since it is far enough away from the actual iron farm itself to not interfere with the portal linking.

This mod is absolutely lovely, however personally one of the issues i have with it is how version specific it is. I play with mods a lot, and tend to play on older versions (usually 1.16 and 1.18), and i really wish i could install axiom, but it's just inaccessible for me. As a building tool it could really use getting ported to forge or older versions, so more people can use it. You can probably picture my disappointment when i was about to start working on my modded map with axiom just to find out i can't use it.

its too much work to port it to forge for very little gain fabric is better than forge in terms of performance so it makes sense to develop it on fabric as for older versions i dont understand why you are complaining lol, newer versions give you more blocks to build with

For me the most important things Axiom does is that it shows me in real time what I'm about to do and doesn't require all the typing of WorldEdit. Being able to see what you've selected, where it's about to go, etc. saves SO MUCH TIME! The most frustrating thing about the world eddit is that moment when you look at a coppied structure and you notice there are blocks missing bc your selection box was one block short. Axiom showes you the box. Or when you paste something and it's rotated the wrong way. Axiom shows you where you're about to paste something and how it's gonna look so you can nail it the first tme and not have to waste time on correcting it after the fact.

This mod really does just seem like 3D modeling software but in minecraft, which i'm all for! One suggestion though would be moving a selection with the arrow keys as well as scrolling, just so you dont have to keep changing which direction you face.

6:05 OMG I was absolutely eating my head before this. i am making a build with 4 lines of symmetry (like a square does) and i had to flip and then rotate one half of a quarter to complete a quarter. I noticed the inconsistency of the rotate directions and i did not figure out why until i saw this.

Center of the farm wall could be fire, maybe add a cool 3d effect to add depth by digging into the wall, it would be a cool detail you don’t see in other perimeter walls, probably because the inefficiency of lag it could cause.

Something that'd be really nice to be able to do is live-mirror or live-rotate a build. So instead of copying it and rotating it and pasting once the quadrant is done for example you could set up a live rotation area and then whatever blocks you place in the first quadrant would be mirrored to the other 3 so you can see how it looks immediately. Could be really cool too for non-axial mirror lines

Im thinking the wierd compatability issues when it comes to selection reach on worldedit is because of how worldedit works as a serverside-only mod. One of worldedits biggest perks was the ability to use it on servers without requiring an extra mod that might break compatability and the need to wait for the most recent modpack(something thats been thouroughly fixed with both fabric and forge and the fact that 90% of people are already used to using older versions for a little while, which is why axiom is even possible nowadays). What this ends up causing however is that its also sort of beholden to serverside checks. If a mod extends your reach beyond what the server or mod knows is possible, it treats it like it does a player breaking a block its not supposed to, it rollbacks the client and just does only the neccesary changes that the server is told, given axiom breaks the block and worldedit doesnt know that it can reach that far, axioms the only part that works.

A very good synopsis! It's interesting because up until the far reach addition the two mods were fairly compatible, but if you accidentally not set one of your points correctly that increases the chances of causing irreparable damage when using WE. Kinda funny that such a small feature incentivizes me to pick between one or the other

This is definitely better than WorldEdit. The boisterous additions of... A GUI... might just make this the Apple Lisa to world edit's IBM PC. I won't say for certain that this mod will inevitably be the one to win out, but it definitely is a superior interface, and W/E needs to adapt quickly if it doesn't want to fall. PS: I'm not that old, I just know some computer history, and have Wikipedia.

@@mrmaxmondays Mod not enough wands adds one like it but it's quite limited and doesn't have adjustable distance Only mod that has adjustable blink is Psi but it's bit complicated mod but the spell for blink is really simple just a constant and the trick (i have addon for item that can adjust the spell on go because usually the spell table is needed) (the spell making is basically visual code) but it's a really useful mod in creative Though it doesn't replace mods that I use for building like building gadgets or effortless building I never used world edit but flying around (whether fast flight or slow) has usually the problem of going up and down When i played on Xbox the fast flight made you follow direction of look unfortunately not in java so going up/down is very slow.

@@Sollace its actually not, how world edit works is it calculates block placements on the server which takes up quite a lot of time because first it has to calculate all the blocks to be changed, and then it has to actually change those blocks how axiom works is all the calculation is done on the client, and the client sends one or more packets to the server so the server can instantly change those blocks

@@chickenfarmer321 in terms of safety, its almost guaranteed to never corrupt since calculations are done clientside even if the operation is cut off for some reason such as the server crashing, the fill operation will be halted and no world corruption will take place. you can easily undo the half completed operation as well

Axiom is something new and is getting better and better but I believe it's also being overestimated. For floor patterns, you can do //stack which is faster or the same speed as how u did it. Prob much faster on bigger areas. As to the rotation thing, I have macros that'll do //rotate 90 and //paste with one click so I never experienced difficulty with it and the way u did it in the video atleast, seemed just as much work as the usual //rotate 90 //paste

I think the appeal comes from how concise everything is. No need for autohotkey, no need to set up any macros, it's got it all in one place (I also have macros for //rotate 90/-90/180). Floor patterns using the stack feature are made much faster with Axiom, and get even easier the bigger you go since you only have to make one selection and scroll on any axis to increase the paste. If you don't believe me I strongly encourage you to try the mod out yourself, it really is more impressive firsthand!

I'm gonna at least have to be content watching content of this mod in use while I wait on any potential updates beyond 1.16 lol but that's fine because like I said before I waited HOW long for a new Metroid game? I can wait for a mod to update. Besides, just gives it time to get all that polishing done! Edit: Halfway through and I really gotta say I LOVE the visualizations. I remember when, I think it was SethBling maybe, made a datapack to go along with WorldEdit that visualized the editors selection box with particles via.....you guessed, Puffer Fish! (I'm kidding, it was obviously armor stands) PS: I liked the video thrice, I have two alt accounts, is that cheating? If not, can we count that towards a bonus goal of getting the bowling ally pattern? That one is my favorite (I really like wild colors, they make the happy chemical in my brain)

I remember that addition from Sethbling! (gosh I miss his content) there's a lot of other mods now that make WE more visual but not are as smooth as Axiom in my opinion--tho it is a shame it doesn't have pufferfish. And thank you for the additional support! Sadly (for some) the remaining two patterns are reserved for Patreons--however, even a subscription at the lowest tier will unlock dozens of other patterns in the discord!

how do I suggest a feature? I really want a scale tool, that maps each block into multiples of it, per axis for example, if i used /scale 3 3 2 then i'd get a copy of the build in which element is 3 times as wide and tall, but 2 times as deep
