Thank you. I saw your previous video when I was choosing….mine is still in the garage waiting to be unboxed since having just moved house. But looking forward to it. Thanks for your insights!

Nice to see you back, i cant disagree with what you said it is a good saw i own the ac216 its a good saw the main issue i have with it is when putting the lever down to hold the fence the fence flexs over to the right and very stiff on setting the angle of the blade to a 45d, as for dust collection i put 25mm strips of foam around 3 sides between the case and the table which helped out massively as only using a smaller lumberjack hoover.
@jamiesworkshopprojects16172 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud. I’ll have to try the foam trick because the dust extractor is great with the cnc in particular. I should have included the fence flexing in the vid actually but I forgot. Mine was the same but there’s enough play in the bolt slots to rectify this. I angled it slightly towards the blade so when I replaced the bolts and tightened the fence down it was parallel to the blade.

I have the AC216, also a great saw. A fly on the wall told me it’s perfectly possible to take an angle grinder to the riving knife. If it makes you feel better, you can tell yourself you’ll order a replacement so you can still use the crown guard…
@jamiesworkshopprojects16172 жыл бұрын
I did that with my Titan before this and it bent the riving knife slightly so I’ve learnt my lesson. Think I’ll order a spare to try on before doing it to my actual one next time lol

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking at buying my first saw. Maybe replace the fence screws with countersinked ones and recess them slightly?
@monkeysausageclub Жыл бұрын
The inserts is only aluminium. You can pop a hole in them easy. My main issue is the riving knife, such a faff removing it.

Where did you get the longer fence rail? Did that come with the saw or was it an upgrade you had to purchase?

Great review, thanks for sharing. Is the riving knife quick release or does it require tools to remove?
@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Жыл бұрын
Thank you fella. It requires a spanner to release the 2 bolts

Interesting review. Nice looking saw but there seems to be a few down sides to all the saws on the market these days. I love my Charnwood but there were lots of things I didn't think were planned well. I am surprised how much dust stayed on the top. Does it do the same if you just connect the extractor to the body? Great that you cover all the practical uses of the saw, might try doing the same for my own... Cheers.
@jamiesworkshopprojects16172 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ben. The dust port at the rear is 100mm and it has a feed coming in from the top hose so I can’t just have it body only unless I cap it off somehow. Shame there’s no Axminster shop near me so I could try before I buy lol. Still would have bought it. Do it, it’ll be interesting to find out about the Charnwood 🙂

@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 sounds like mine but I blocked the side inlet with a plastic bottle top. Can't use the riving knife much because I use different thickness blades and the wood traps on it. Made throat plates out of laminate flooring - they're solid. Will do a review soon. Cheers!

good timing, im thinking of getting this saw, do you find any deflection in the fence?
@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Жыл бұрын
I had an issue when locking down the fence it was pulling inwards towards the blade but after some adjustment it’s now parallel. I’ve also got to push with quite a bit of force at the far end to get any deflection. Hope this helps!

This is the saw I was planning to buy when they were on the Axminster clearance sale but as I live in the Isle of Man they wanted over £250 for shipping so that wiped out any saving from the sale, and when I'd arranged an alternative delivery to a UK address to collect at a later date they'd sold out. I've also checked the specifications for the AC254TS and the AW254TS and they are identical so apart from a new paint job what was the point of the rebranding and the price increase?
@jamiesworkshopprojects16172 жыл бұрын
Wow that’s expensive for shipping. Did you manage to get another saw or are you holding out for one of these?
@andyprice58822 жыл бұрын
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 I've not got one yet, I was only buying it because it was such a good deal at the time and with the discount code and claimed "Free Delivery" it was less than £600. I started to place the order online but when I tried to enter my delivery address it set alarm bells ringing and I was told to contact their sales dept to arrange shipping.

Hello, I was looking at buying this saw but haven't been certain because of only having a 430mm max wide cut, but are you saying that if you switch the fence to the left side and use the left side extension (when you need to make wider cuts) you can max that out to 560-575mm? You say there is a way to go even wide, would you mind explaining please? :) Cheers
@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Жыл бұрын
Morning, yes I have wider cuts with the fence on the left. You can make a wider cut by flipping your workpiece around but if you have a large workpiece the overhang can make handling a bit of a struggle. I’d also recommend looking at a video from matt at badger workshop (I should have included this in the video) as he has/had the 216mm saw and extended the right side to increase capacity 👍🏻
@BEBE-qm6rq Жыл бұрын
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Morning, thanks for the reply. So is the 560 cut on the left side pretty comfortable to do? Also, if you have a link to the badger workshop video that be great, can't seem to find it?
@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Жыл бұрын
@@BEBE-qm6rq I find the workpiece more supported at 560 than 575. I believe the video is called ‘badger workshop new wing and mitre slot’ definitely worth a watch to keep the fence on right side
