Axon to move headquarters away from planned Scottsdale location

Extremely POOR reporting! From my research, the actual story is that Axon Buys the land in 2019/2020 KNOWING it only allows industrial development there, and doesn't allow residential development. They indicate their plan is in compliance with existing zoning. Their development plan gets updated and suddenly there are 5 high density apartment buildings (1900 apartments) and a 500 room hotel. The community is outraged. Several organizations, which I believe includes the city council as well as the Scottsdale Airpark planning committee reject Axon's request for a zoning change to allow the residential. Axon gets mad and threatens to pull the plug on the entire project. I hope the city planners in Scottsdale stand their ground against the bullying tactics of this company.

The few city council members that wanted to grant the zoning change were all voted out in the November election. But they tried to grant the zoning before the election leading to the petition to override them.

The people have spoken. They want to decide this question in a democratic process. If they don’t want you, go somewhere else. If it’s as great as Axion says it is, they should have no problems finding another location.

I betcha axon is looking for some kind of tax brakes and relief to build that there you need to look into that happens all the time. The movie industry, and the sports team industry is notorious for getting the taxpayers to fit the bill for their stuff in the promise of lots of jobs that often never materialize.

They bought land that was only for commercial, promised a commercial property and last minute added a bunch of residential housing. They really tried to dupe the people who live in the area, and they got called out and now Axon is acting like a child. Let them leave, good riddance. It won't hurt the city that much, it's prime land and someone else will move it. Hopefully he'll take that goddamn annoying Harley dealership with him. Also he owns PXG that's based here. It's all a show. He owns so many businesses here it would HURT HIM.
