Nuno Bettencourt may possibly be the most talented guitarist of that generation. His complexity in extremes songs are pretty unprecedented. Brian May said that he could never play the guitar solo for get the funk out. Awesome interview.

I met Nuno and Gary in 1990 when they were performing in Joplin, MO during the Pornograffiti tour. Such humble and gracious guys. We spent a good 20 minutes just talking about music and bands we grew up with. Brought my Circus magazine that had the tablature for Mutha. Nuno read through it and said it was pretty accurate. Then both he and Gary signed it. That article and a pic of the three of us hangs in my home office to this very day. Can’t wait for the new album to drop!

😭u have made me SO happy! Backing up the people that I feel in my heart r good people. I used to get the new mags. Metal Edge was a fave. I was jealous that Gerry got to meet so many cool guys. I had all the KISS special editions. But outgrew that part. Now I would love to flip through all of the old ones. Even the teen ones. U can find some articles or pics online, but it's not that same.

Such a great band. You always hear great things about Nuno, which is well deserved, but not much about the band. I think they are extremely underrated for their body of work. Absolutely the best, best, very best episode of the series. I’m sure off camera, they warmed their chops up, but that does not guarantee by any means that it goes smoothly. I expected Nuno to be top notch, but vocals are tricky. I’ve heard many famous singers sound horrible when put on the spot, so give those dudes their credit. They were having a blast doing what they love doing, and they sounded great. Hey Sammy, what makes you happy? He answered his own question.

I am from Ashland Massachusetts and have always been a huge fan of Extreme. The first time I watched Extreme perform was in the 80's at THE CHANNEL in Boston Ma. They were EXTREMELY awesome live! Pun intended. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the new album. Thank you for the interview video, and jam Sammy. Also thank God for KZbin. As a kid in the 70's and 80's, one never really had the opportunity to get quality interviews and insights of our favorite bands. Love it!

Van Halen is my all time favorite band. I seen them live. Notice Sammy wiping a tear from is eye after he asked Gary his experience visiting 12:42 5150 studios. Sammy said in another interview, that when he was in Van Halen, it was the best music he ever made. Very special.

One of the things that I have always loved about Nuno (besides his sick tone, technique and writing skills) is that he is both comfortable and a master at playing both electric AND acoustic!! Most guitar virtuosos we know usually concentrate on their electric skills, which is badass of course, but tend to not have that much of acoustic recordings or offerings, which is not the case with Nuno!!! Definitely one of my all time heroes!

Extreme was one of my favorite bands way back when and Whole Hearted was a huge inspiration for me learning guitar. Honestly it's one of the two songs that convinced me to buy my 12 string acoustic. I figured if I could even come half way close to learning it I could prob play most anything. I'm very happy to hear they are recording together again.

I had Kid Ego on CD in '91? I have Nuno with other bands and charity events on a playlist. The audio ain't great, but he is. I think his daughter is an actress.
