Within Islam it's a war for their souls, for some, anyway. I don't think how they can evolve because the scriptures don't seem to allow. Compare their violence to the admonitions to love in the gospels. At least Christianity had a basis to go beyond it's violence (at least mostly). It also accepted other religions. The concept of humility keeps ideas of religious superiority mostly within reasonable bound, which doesn't seem the be case with Islam at all. What do they say if we convert? Don't forget history. However, what you mentioned is the reason I am a Buddhist, which should be known as a non-theistic religions. All theistic religions have the same problem of hate, but at least the main source for Christianity, the four gospels, talk about love, compassion, and forgiveness and the Jesus sacrifices himself instead of living a nice life with several wifes and killing whoever he wants, as Mohammed did. It seems you think that all religions are the same, and they are not. Christianity is closer to Buddhism than to Islam because of it's definite emphasis on love and kindness even if wasn't practice in that way. Ultimately these virtues have come up to the surface and Christianity changed based on these basic texts. WAke up!

Higher educations institutions are not there to be left wing or right wing but to impart knowledge and encourage critical thought. I think that all these issues have their coarse and subtle aspects, and Murray is trying to be thorough and not contribute to purely emotional reactions. If Western culture is threatened getting angry is important, but so is staying cool and thorough.

Thats because he is an intellectusl. He tends to analyze every issue,he doesnt have a black-and -white attitude. His writing is quite straightforward though,because he researchs his subject thoroughly. For instance before he wrote The Strange death of Europe-he travelled around Europe to all the countries he writes about,
