What I don't like about those consoles (with the exception of the Steam Deck) is that the controls are not symmetrical. Why can't they keep both joysticks at the top or in the middle, and both 4-buttons in the middle or on the top? The lack of touchpad also makes this less usable than the Steam Deck. I honestly wish we would see more handheld PCs, and I'm surprised that only Lenovo has announced a handheld PC so far, from the mainstream laptop manufacturers. The first versions are excused if they have mistakes, by the customers, if they are more affordable (with pre-orders being how they are) than the Steam Deck. And there could be thicker handheld PCs with more battery, more cooling, and more things in general, like, for example: a 3.5 inch SSD, a folding keyboard which stays in place like on a laptop, webcam + camera which can rotate on 2 or 3 axis (pitch, yaw, and optionally roll), maybe a second-screen addon which folds onto the main screen and keyboard, and maybe the option to use flat joysticks (with micrometer or touchpad mechanism, with two sliders (instead of analog triggers) moving the joystick without changing it's angle around a pivot, which is also lower profile, which would also allow for zero-ing the joysticks on the fly, for when you change the springs or for when you want the screen to keep rotating one way steadily, like to orbit around a place while you're AFK), and definitely a lot more ports (including a combo headset+microphone port and 2 separate ports for headphones and microphone, allowing 2 people to listen to the same or different things, especially with 2 screens, especially with a separate controller connected to the handheld PC). *Edit:* It must also have full Linux drivers, and optionally also Windows 10 drivers. And I'm fully expecting to see smartphones running Linux having joysticks (the flat version I mentioned or the conventional version pushed inwards to not be broken inside a pocket), 4-buttons, index-finger button and middle-finger spring-loaded slider instead of analog triggers, optionally also touchpads, added to each side of the screen, which to be marketed as Handheld Gaming PCs, even if they are only useful for emulating older games, because if it can run SteamOS or WineSapOS or a lighterweight distro with all the necessary software, then people would still be able to play lighterweight PC games on them, or even use them as laptop replacements, because you only need a charging brick o use them, no mouse needed, no desk or lap space needed, and which can be used while walking (unlike a laptop, for example). I expect the price for such Linux Handheld PC Smartphones to be starting from $100, maybe less, depending on the processing power it has and the drivers and customization options. I'm also expecting gamers to embrace 540p with integer-scaling to 1080p.

They really should've went with a lower resolution screen. This device really doesn't have a good enough GPU or battery life for 1080p gaming.
@adamcdx2 жыл бұрын
The AYANEO team were looking into that. The issue is that OLED panels that aren’t already mass produced cost a lot more to use or develop. Chances are the 5.5” 1080p display they’re using actually cost less than using a 5.5” 720p screen because 1080p being more prevalent due to smartphones.

@@adamcdx Wish they had an option for a 6 inch LCD. 5.5... it's just a tad too small for the games it'll be played on it. This is why I'm contemplating getting the Loki Mini Pro with the I3 processor and battery boost of 46wh. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipiciIynp7qrd5o

Doubt, small panel LED vs OLED power usage difference are negligible. Only if constantly displaying white screen LED would be OLED on power usage.

I'll definitely wait for the "next... next" iterations instead as I need the money for some important expenses and I just got the Odin Base a few months ago. The battery life is a buzzkill, but the prospect of more choices is better than just only a few.

As much as I used to like to tinker, I've scratched that itch on my recent few devices. Now we are talking tdp, resolution, for every game for every system. I know this will be the norm for all these reviews upcoming but man that's too much for me.

That battery alone was enough for me to jump ship to ayn loki mini pro i3 model. At $435, you can get both upgrade of 8505 to i3 and 40wh to 48wh battery. Sure it's not as powerful, but getting a battery from 28wh to 48wh is dramatic.

That's my exact thoughts, exactly! Larger screen, bigger battery, and a more power efficient chip that can still play ps3! Did you see ETA's video on that processor? kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipiciIynp7qrd5o My only gripe about the Loki is they're not that developed in the software department, still with the Odin and delivery.. I got an Odin, backer #833 and if I order a Loki now, I'm not sure when I'll get it. Have you ever tried FxSound on the Aya Neo models ? I have had a Pro and Now have a Next. FxSound made the speakers sound a significant amount better. I'm usually a skeptic but it is really remarkable on everything I've ever tried it on with bad speakers including a laptop.

PHEW there are two USB C ports, that was troubling or maybe I was thinking of the LOKI and AYN line up that may not have a top USB C port. YOU NEED AT LEAST TWO especially if you're not offering full USB A ports. I also make this argument with Android Tablets as well, they should offer two.

I back the IGG last week only because the AYN Loki launch is looking iffy. I do feel that I'm overpaying for what is likely to be a less capable device but it's very likely to ship a lot sooner. Besides having to plug in more often, this ticks most of my boxes. Thanks for the real world gaming tests. This does all I plan on using it for pretty well, which is indie to mid-tier graphic titles from the Game Pass PC library. You mentioned being able to add GOG and Epic Games to the front end launcher. I assume you can add Xbox app titles as well, right?

Yes, you can add Xbox games as well. A few that I tested in this video (like Peppa Pig and that racing car golf game) are from GamePass, but I forgot to mention that.
