A tip I'd give for Steam's Big Picture Mode is to try out a tool called "Steam ROM Manager". It will create individual non-Steam games for each ROM and add art for each game! This then allows you to launch straight from the Steam UI and create custom Steam Input controller configs for each game!

@@adjacentstalker9237 Here...I will walk you through the statement I was responding to... "It's a laptop that they somehow shrunk into an insanely tiny size" - applies to steamdeck when you consider the deck is just slightly bigger in size. Maybe that's not "insanely small" but it is definitely way smaller than a laptop. Moving on. "With amazing performance" -again, applies to steamdeck. "pretty good controller with decent ergonomics (hopefully)" -this seems to be where you take issue. But still, in the context of the comment I was responding to, I am correct. Reviews of the deck have highlighted that the controller is "pretty good with good ergonomics" I was not responding to a comment concerning analog drift. However, you are right that the Neo is probably going to be better in the analog department (as it should be, given the price). I'm absolutely stoked for the Steam Deck launching tomorrow! I haven't the faintest clue if I'm gonna use it nearly as much as I think I will because what I'm playing nearly everyday is my Funkey S and my switch lite and I find myself only sinking in either hours of game play or small chunks every here and there. I don't really play a lot of pc games as I just don't have a pc anymore but I use my Ipad Pro for steam link and that does the job albeit the lag leaves a lot to be desired in terms of wanting to play my game library but it's all I got. I'm getting in that Retroid Pocket 2+ and I'm positive I'm gonna use that a lot since it's a perfect blend of switch lite weight and more power than the Funkey S so I don't know if I'll use the Steam Deck. I'm disabled so a lot of my gaming comes from sitting in bed or laying down and I can't really do that with the Steam Deck but I'm sure gonna try lol so we will see. This device is just too expensive for me.

You can set the tdp up to 32W on AYASpace, don't necessarily need a third party software. You have to go into the settings and adjust your custom tdp setting to whatever you want up to 32W. Another question: I've been watching all of your reviews and videos, and in your last AYA NEO NEXT review you showed N64 emulation without any problems but I just can't get it to run, though! I tried Conker's Bad Fur Day and it was running ok but not really enjoyable in my opinion as it was a little slow and with a few sound stutters. Then I thought it's due to the game, let me try Goldeneye as it ran perfectly on your video as you mentioned, as well. It ran with a few hiccups and slowdowns, nothing too serious but everytime I was shooting my player looked up to the sky. Everytime I was pressing the shoot button my aim went up a lil bit. I think I could slightly see that in your video, too! Then I tried the standalone Project 64 emulator without Retroarch and the slowdowns and stutters were even worse but I didn't have the problem looking up to the sky while shooting. Another issue I had - Retrobat was showing me no intro at all while it was starting. In Your video the NEO-GEO intro comes up when you start Retrobat but I could only hear the sound, the intro video didn't show up. I totally love this device and play a lot of Steam games on it, they run surprisingly well on this unit. But for the emulation side I was not satisfied as I couldn't get anything to run properly. I tried only N64, though.

Just pre-ordered the Aya Neo Next (2TB). Thanks for the review by the way which helped me to decide and get excited for it! I had a reservation for the Deck which I cancelled after I saw the problems the Deck has with Windows, which is the first reason for me to choose the Aya Neo Next. I want the device to double as a PC if need be: Like checking Emails and surfing the net, watching KZbin, etc when I am not at home. A laptop is not an option for me anymore. Second reason is the limited space. I know you can increase the Deck's space with a SD card but first I could not find a SD card larger than 1TB (which would add another 200€ to the Deck's costs) and second I have doubts that a SD card is as fast as a M.2. Smaller games might be fine but playing something like AC or FF from a SD card does not seem right. Also when I saw the Aya Neo Next in "midnight blue" the sterile black of the Deck just wasn't nice to look at anymore... I know, very superficial reason. Still a reason for me. Additionally I have a hunch the Neo vs Deck will be something akin to Apple phone vs Android phone. Because it is so limited I think the Neo will retain more of its value. The Deck will probably be produced in higher quantities and the market will have plenty of these devices on the "used market" after a while (especially if we see a successor) which will drive the prices down. I could be wrong but a used Aya Neo still costs about 1000€ and they are hard to come by.
@o0mrrobot0o262 жыл бұрын
I can see where you're coming from but the Steam Deck is currently destroying the Neo Next in gaming benchmarks and KZbinrs like the Faux have successfully ported windows and have it working fine on the deck. As far as storage is concerned, you can use micro SD which has been tested and is just fine. I know you said a laptop isn't something you are interested in but for the same 1600 bucks you spent on the Neo Next you could've gotten one of the best 14" gaming laptops out now the Asus Zephyrus G14....
@Shroud832 жыл бұрын
@@o0mrrobot0o26 Please send me the benchmarks comparing both sytems directly. I can't find any by typing for example "Aya Neo Next vs Steam Deck." Maybe I need to search with a different phrasing. I didn't see huge differences when picking certain games and compared them across reviews for both systems. They both run very good with stuff like Doom and Forza Horizon 5 and both start to struggle with games like Red Dead and AC. I write "start to struggle"; both can run these games even in higher qualities but are of course nowhere near the performance of a desktop gaming rig. And I don't think we will see 60+fps with high quality in these games on handheld for at least the next two generations. Concerning making Windows run fine: I don't know "Faux". But I watched Linus and that did not look good at all, like controller issues, stuttering and massive performance issues when running games on the Deck on Windows compared to their Proton solution. Dual boot is also not officially supported. Also Sound doesn't work out of the box. I don't want to fix any of this myself. Sure Valve has time to fix all this and they are working on it. But why counting on them to make their system compatible with Windows when there are systems out there which are from the ground up designed to work with that OS to begin with. Just checked again concering SD... saying "is just fine" is subjective. Situations where you have to wait half a minute longer loading a game... no thank you. Again I would have to buy that SD card for at least 200€ extra and it would not have the same amount of drive space and not the same speed. If you already know I don't want a laptop, why even bother telling me I could buy a laptop with better specs? ...Sorry but that is weird... I want something I can slip into a bag that does not take up more space than needed but still can be used as a pc. Also I cannot take a laptop in to the sub or the bus an play for a couple of minutes and then just quickly put it away. I tried that before and I don't miss that experience. Lastly the Deck is virtually not available, my reservation was scheduled to be activated past Q3. That could mean Q4 or even further down the road. To compare the two systems from my point of view: Steam Deck: 679€ for the Deck + ca. 200€ for a 1TB SD. That is 879€. That would make the Deck a very good gaming system, but not a good general purpose pc. Also I would have to erase proton and install windows and make it run properly with the Deck. Aya Neo Next: 1250€ flat and I can use it out of box as a PC AND a gaming plattform. That is 400€ extra for the convenience of having both purposes combined into one device. Otherwise I would have to buy an extra laptop which would cost around that price and I would have another device taking up space when traveling.
@o0mrrobot0o262 жыл бұрын
@@Shroud83 honestly I get where you're coming from but the Aya neo next costs more than one of the best 14" gaming laptops you can get right now. That's a tough sell when you can get a deck and put windows on it for a third the price. Check out Phaux or do a quick search on Steam Deck performance then compare it to the same games quoted in the Aya neo website and you'll see a significant difference. Is the Aya CPU stronger than what the Steam Deck has? Yes 100% but these things aren't meant to be pocket PC's. They're marketed as gaming devices. If you really wanted multipurpose portable PC system that's super portable you'd consider the 14" laptop I recommended. Either way, it's your money. I'm not gonna ever assume to tell anyone what to do with their hard earned cash. I'm only saying look into it if you think I'm full of it. I own a Neo 4800u 2021 model and the Next is not an improvement aside from controls because they use the same GPU and every game I play benchmarks way better on the Steam Deck. That being said, do whatever makes you happy. That's all that matters.

@@o0mrrobot0o26 "That's a tough sell"... Am I selling it do you? "...third the price"... again I paid 1250€ flat for the Neo. The Deck costs 679€ plus an extra SD card 1TB for about 200€ which is half the storage capacity of the Neo ... how is this "third the price"? 1250€ vs 879€. Even leaving the SD card out it's still half the price. I weighed the pros and cons and undestand what I am getting myself into. Any laptop is still bigger than the Aya Neo Next. Even 14" and even the Deck is bigger than the Aya Neo Next. I really don't get why you are so hung up on making me consider buying a laptop? Again why? I know these devices are meant to be gaming consoles, and that's most probably how I will use the Next as well. But so I don't have to deal with a laptop ever again I want it to be decent pc as well. To be perfectly clear (if it wasn't already before) I am no fan of laptops. I find them too bulky and not at all practical. I had my fair share of laptops (four in total over course of about 20 years) and they never really worked out for me. And not because I wasn't willing to spend good money on them. Again try playing on a bus or the sub on a laptop (with a controller). That's the cool thing about he Switch. You can leave all the peripherals at home and just have a "barebone" device and play on the go. No keyboard, no mousepad, no unnecessarily big screen (14" vs 7"). And if I want to use the Next as a pc I can hook it up to a monitor, keyboard and mouse but without having to deal with all these devices in handheld mode. A laptop has all these things built-in and you always have to carry them around even if you don't actually need them which makes the device so much bulkier. At the end at least you say "whatever makes you happy". But why not just accept my reasoning and that I have thought this through in the first place... or at least after reading my reasoning? Just say "Oh, ok I get it." That's just weird, man... going on about laptops even after literarily reading that, for me at least, laptops are out of the picture.

I have used the emuelec for a while and dont want to lose save data or retroarch settings. I want but also dont want to change firmware beacuse i dont want to mess up anything. Sooo..... are there any ports available for emuelec on the internet???? and do i install them ?
@RetroGameCorps2 жыл бұрын
@@plazolaferreyro3416 if you look on the sidebar of this page it will show some instructions for installing ports. The issue is that the version of EmuELEC they used is not supported by the team and is very outdated, so there are no instructions available. github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/wiki/Supported-Platforms-And--Correct-Rom-Path Since the firmware resides on the card, you could buy a different card and try out 351ELEC without affecting your stock card, to see if you like it. The custom firmwares are quite a bit better than the stock experience and have ongoing support and documentation.

@@RetroGameCorps Thanks for replying. Sorry for asking a lot but. 1.-Does the Tf1 card stores any data that i should be keeping? 2.-Can i just delete all the Tf1 stuff and add the firware or do i need to keep somethings?? 3.- I've seen some of your firmware videos but havenst seen any where you talk about the rg351mp. I dont know what to do because that has two card slots with different info, and i dont know if the 351p/m guides are the same with the mp. Have you done a video? 4.- Just talking about this because i've hoping for this but. I would really like a collab with retro dodo and the retro futere, it would be amazing

Nooo why did I waste money on the Odin when this exists?!
@Splackavellie852 жыл бұрын
You didn’t waste your money on the Odin. This thing costs 5-6 times as much as the Odin and the Odin is already fantastic for emulation.

That is an expensive handheld to play emulators on. I love the idea of a portable Windows device and I was seriously considering one of these but decided to wait on a Steam Deck. More of a wait to get but saves a ton of money.

How do we get VALVE to send you a Steam Deck unit for review? Other KZbinrs with less subscriber numbers than you have been able to acquire units. Can we as viewers do anything? VALVE seems to be willing to listen to the internet crowd

Can the Ayaneo Next run SteamOS?
@Binkoro2 жыл бұрын
Certainly if one is only interested in gaming and nothing else, then it makes no sense to pay $1000 more for the AyaNeo Next over the SD. Having said that, I think it also doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to buy a high end gaming PC or gaming laptop instead of the SD either, unless you want to play VR games or something like that. Also, why are reviewers bashing AyaNeo for being pricy when all other handheld windows gaming pcs are just as expensive? The Onexplayer comes to mind. Any criticism about the price of the AyaNeo Next can be applied to all of its competitors as well, unless the price is below cost like the SD. Personally, I don’t like rewarding companies who engage in monopolistic behaviors to get rid of their completion.
@RetroGameCorps2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I wasn't necessarily bashing AYANEO for being expensive, but I was communicating the fact that I find this to be a hefty price for a handheld when compared to what I usually cover. It's a large investment. I haven't had the opportunity to review other handheld PCs but I would make the same comment for those as well. Not a dig on the company, but on the sheer price factor involved. The Steam Deck is of course less of an investment, but you do bring up a good point that they are pricing out their competition.
@Binkoro2 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGameCorps I truly appreciate your video. It's not just you who brings up the price of the NeoNext vs the Steam Deck. Every single KZbin video I have watched about the AYANEO NEXT talks about how the Steam Deck is a better deal. Yet, every other video of Ayaneo's competitors (Onexplayer, GPD Win 3, GPD Win Max, etc.) never seem to bring up the Steam Deck to highlight the price difference. Therefore, I just find it strange that only the AYANEO NEXT has been a target of this price difference issue. In fact, the AYANEO NEXT is cheaper than the 2TB Onexplayer Mini, and all the videos on the Onexplayer Mini just talks about how great the device is without comparing it to the Deck. It's just very strange.

The steam deck isn’t available in Australia and won’t be for at least two years. And by the time in comes out in Australia there will be way better things out so it’s a wast of time and money for people in Australia to wait for it.
