It may be the 80's when Simply Red record this but money is still too tight to mention. A theme that spans generations.

So this song is about during the eighties in United States reagan in his administration was called reaganomics. He caused us a great recession and at the end of the song he says I'm talking about Ronnie Ronnie and he said did the Earth move for you nancy referring to Nancy Reagan

Betcha you didn't know this was actually a remake of the 1982 original by an r&b duo called the Valentine Brothers, used to always hear it as a kid....and also this version is on the same album as "Holding Back The Years", this was the single released right after that one became a #1 smash...👍🏿😎🎶🎵

Simply Red is a group their lead singer as a symbol for the group. They had their fame back in the day and they faced away like so many did from back in the 80s When Regan- omics put the rich even farther ahead of the poor. Holding back the Years is their biggest and most recognizable song
@shawnlovejoy39454 жыл бұрын
They actually had a vibrant career in the 80s, 90s and 2000s throughout Europe. Holding back the years being their first US #1

Love your feedback India on these videos plus your picks. Simply Red is a genius.Listen to the words in this song, they really have a message and the beat isn't bad either. Al Wilsons song "Show and Tell" is also a winner along with soul singer Barry White doing " Never Never Gonna Give You Up", the long version. Keep bringing those videos.

My suggestions for reactions are Midnight OIl - Beds are Burning which is also political or Yothu Yindi - Treaty about Aboriginal land rights or The Specials - Nelson Mandela which was the first political song I heard as a kid where I realised there was meaning behind the music.

Mick Hucknell wrote this during the depression in the UK. We had the “winter of discontent” under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Rail, coal, garbage, fire department strikes. Riots in the major cities. Kids having to do homework by candlelight due to power cuts that happened daily. The pound devalued. Wars being fought in ally with America. Even milk being taken away from children in schools. It was the worst time in the UK. Piles and piles of uncollected garbage, rats everywhere. This created a wave of music known as the Red Wedge, which Hucknell was a part of that created very political music. Other artists with political leanings were UB40 (named for the unemployment form number...the band met each other in a job center), Style Council and so many others.

@stevious72784 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure Jesus is the right one to talk to about money because ALL the churches and ministers are constantly saying that he needs more of my money. So I would guess that Jesus isn't real good at handling his own money if he always has to ask me for some. Not the best to seek financial advice from. It would be like asking a carnivore what is a good vegan recipe.
